A novel compact supercontinuum (SC) source using the single mode photonic crystal fibers (PCF) pumped with an all fiber MOPA
fiber laser is demonstrated experimentally. A bandwidth of 700 nm is achieved by operating the pumping fiber laser at a wavelength
of 1064 nm, pulse duration of 10 ns, repetition rate of 50 kHz and peak power of 1 kW. The SC generation is initiated through

Previous work have shown that the combined effects of negative third-order dispersion (TOD) and Raman self-scattering (RSS) can significantly enhance soliton compression in dispersion decreasing fibers (DDFs). In this paper, the effects of the negative TOD coefficient and the effective amplification of DDF′s on the performance of soliton compression are investigated. It is shown that for a given initial soliton width and a given effective amplification, there exists an optimum value of the negative TOD coefficient of the DDF at which the enhancement in soliton compression is maximum. It is also shown that the compression enhancement saturates when the effective amplification exceeds a certain value, which has been explained as a compromise between the higher-order effects induced increase of the ratio of input to output group-velocity dispersion coefficients of the DDF and the TOD induced non-adiabatic compression characteristics. The dependence of the compression enhancement on the initial soliton width have also be studied and the scheme is found works well for solitons with initial widths less than 3 ps. 相似文献

The output properties of electrons accelerated by the vacuum laser acceleration scheme CAS (capture and acceleration scenario) are addressed. The transport process of the electron bunch, the fraction of the CAS electrons of the incident electrons, the correlation of electron energy with position and scattering angle, the energy spectrum and angular distributions as well as the emittance of the outgoing electrons are studied at a laser intensity of a0=10. In addition, the effects of the laser intensity, beam width, and pulse duration on the properties of the output electrons are also examined. Physical explanations of those output characteristics are presented based on the mechanism behind the CAS scheme. The feasibility of CAS to become a realistic laser accelerator scheme is explored. A sensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of plasmonic crystals fabricated via a colloidal-crystal-assisted templating
method is studied. Plasmonic crystals are prepared by depositing a thin gold (Au) layer onto a two-dimensional array of polystyrene
spheres self-assembled on a quartz substrate. The enhanced transmission as a result of the SPR of Au plasmonic crystals, which
are immersed in different ambient liquids, are measured and compared with that of polystyrene (PS) microsphere templates of
different sizes, both before and after removal of Au nanoprisms formed on the quartz substrate through pores among the spheres.
It is found that the measured sensitivities exhibit a linear dependence on the refractive index of the surrounding medium
and are linked to coupling effects between SPRs on the corrugated Au film and nanoislands. The feasibility of the SPR system
in molecular monolayer detection is further demonstrated through a formation of alkanethiolate self-assembled monolayers on
the Au film surface, which causes a 4 nm red-shift of the main SPR.
