Robust adaptive synchronization of uncertain complex networks with multiple time‐varying coupled delays

In this article, the synchronization problem of uncertain complex networks with multiple coupled time‐varying delays is studied. The synchronization criterion is deduced for complex dynamical networks with multiple different time‐varying coupling delays and uncertainties, based on Lyapunov stability theory and robust adaptive principle. By designing suitable robust adaptive synchronization controllers that have strong robustness against the uncertainties in coupling matrices, the all nodes states of complex networks globally asymptotically synchronize to a desired synchronization state. GaP:Mg layers grown on GaN by MOCVD

We have investigated the growth of magnesium-doped GaP (GaP:Mg) layers on GaN by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. The hole carrier concentration increased linearly from 0.8×10¹⁸ to 4.2×10¹⁸ cm⁻³ as the Bis(cyclopentadienyl) magnesium (Cp₂Mg) mole flow rate increased from 1.2×10⁻⁷ to 3.6×10⁻⁷ mol/min. However, the hole carrier concentration decreased when the CP₂Mg mole flow rate was further increased. The double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXRD) rocking curves showed that the GaP:Mg layers were single crystalline at low CP₂Mg molar flow. However, the GaP:Mg layers became polycrystalline if the CP₂Mg molar flow was too high. The decrease in hole carrier concentration at high CP₂Mg molar flow was due to crystal quality deterioration of the GaP layer, which also resulted in the low hole mobility of the GaP:Mg layer.     

Global weak solutions for a periodic two-component?μ-Hunter–Saxton system

This paper is concerned with global existence of weak solutions for a periodic two-component?μ-Hunter–Saxton system. We first derive global existence for strong solutions to the system with smooth approximate initial data. Then, we show that the limit of approximate solutions is a global weak solution of the two-component?μ-Hunter–Saxton system.     

A novel fluorescent molecule based on 1,8-naphthalimide: synthesis,spectral properties,and application in cell imaging

A novel naphthalimide molecule, 4-(2-methoxyethoxy)-N-butyl-1,8-naphthalimide (MEBN), has been synthesized and characterized. The UV–visible absorption and fluorescence emission spectral properties in n-hexane, toluene, CHCl₃, and CH₃OH were studied. Its optical properties depend on solvent polarity. The application of MEBN in cell imaging was investigated.     

Experimental studies on affinity chromatography in an electric field.

A multicompartment electrolyzer, which has been used for preparative electrophoresis [Z. Liu, Z. Huang, J.-Y. Cong, et al., Sep. Sci. Technol. 31 (1996) 427], is applied for carrying out affinity chromatography in an alternating electric field. The effect of electric field strength on the adsorption and desorption characteristics is experimentally examined with human serum albumin and Blue Sepharose Fast Flow as a model system. It is shown that the existence of an electric field leads to a significant change in the adsorption capacity of the blue dye, which may be used for establishing a preferential adsorption to achieve a high resolution. The adsorption speed increases slightly with respect to the increase of electric field strength, while adsorption capacity in the presence of an electric field is independent of the electric field strength. Different elution behavior is observed as function of adsorption condition and a high recovery of the adsorbed protein is obtained when the adsorption is carried out in the presence of an electric field.     

Multistimuli‐responsive hyperbranched poly(ether amine)s

Multistimuli‐responsive hyperbranched poly(ether amine)s (hPEAs) were successfully synthesized through nucleophilic addition/ring‐opening reaction of commercial diglycidyl ether and amine via one‐pot synthesis. In aqueous solution, these hPEAs exhibited very sharp response to temperature, pH, and ionic strength, with well‐tunable cloud point (CP). Through changing the poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) chain content of hPEAs, pH, and ionic strength, the CP could be adjustable from 35 to 100 °C, and increased with the increasing of PEO content, the decreasing of pH and ionic strength. The CP of hPEAs aqueous solution presents a linear relationship to the PEO content in pH range from 6.6 to 8.0. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) investigation indicated that these hPEAs dispersed in aqueous solution to form the stable nanomicelles, whose aggregation can be controlled by temperature, pH, and ionic strength. Moreover, the obtained hPEAs contain reactive amino groups in periphery and hydroxyl groups inside, which can be further functionalized. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Singularly Perturbed Switching Diffusions: Rapid Switchings and Fast Diffusions

Motivated by many problems in optimization and control, this paper is concerned with singularly perturbed systems involving both diffusions and pure jump processes. Two models are treated. In the first model, the jump process changes very rapidly by comparison with the diffusion processes. In the second model, the diffusions change rapidly in comparison with the jump process. Asymptotic expansions are developed for the transition density vectors via a constructive method; justification of the asymptotic expansions and analysis of the remainders are provided.
