A chemo-electro-mechanical formulation, referred to as the multi-effect-coupling pH-stimulus (MECpH) model, is presented in this paper for the analysis of the effects of the initial geometrical size on the responsive behavior of pH-sensitive hydrogels subject to the coupled stimuli of environmental solution pH and externally applied electric voltage. The model is composed of coupled nonlinear partial differential equations, and it accounts for the diffusion of ionic species, distributive electric potential and large mechanical deformation. In addition, the correlation between the diffusive hydrogen ion within the hydrogel and charge groups fixed to the polymeric network chains is incorporated quantitatively into this MECpH model. For the simulation of the response characteristics of the smart hydrogel, we solve the one-dimensional steady-state problem using the Hermite–Cloud meshless technique. For the MECpH model, the present numerical simulations were compared with experimental data available from literature to validate the accuracy and robustness of the model, and good agreement was observed. Several parameter studies were then carried out in the analysis of the hydrogel swelling when immersed in solution, and it was observed that the initial geometrical size has significant influence on the volume variations of these pH-responsive hydrogels.  相似文献

In this article, we share our learning experience as a Lesson Study team. The Research Lesson was on Figural Patterns taught in Year 7. In addition to helping students learn the skills of the topic, we wanted them to develop a problem-solving disposition. The management of these two objectives was a challenge to us. The enantiomers of (11Z,19Z)-3-acetoxy-11,19-octacosadien-1-ol were synthesized from the enantiomers of 3,4-epoxy-1-butanol PMB ether. Its racemate was also synthesized. Its (S)-isomer and racemate were shown to possess the same pheromone activity as CH503, a long-lived inhibitor of male courtship in Drosophila melanogaster, although the racemate was less active.  相似文献

One of the acceptable theories in describing the wave motions in fluid saturated porous rocks is Biot's theory2 In this paper, we present the procedures in the determination of the parameters in Biot's theory. One artificial rock “Alundum’ and three types of natural sandstones were tested. The calculated wave speeds in the rock specimens, based on the experimentally determined Biot's parameters, were found in good agreement with the measured dilatational wave speeds using the ultrasonic pulse method  相似文献

A mathematical model is introduced and used to obtain a correction factor of the reinforcing effect of birefringent coatings on structures. The bending effect introduced to the coated structure due to the shifting of neutral surface is considered in the derivation of the correction factor. The photoelastic data corrected by this correction factor are found to be in good agreement with the theoretical calculations.  相似文献

Antimony trioxide (Sb2O3) nanoparticles with particle size range from 2 to 12 nm were successfully synthesized by chemical reducing method. Antimony trichloride was reduced by hydrazine with the presence of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) as catalyst in ethylene glycol at 120 °C for 1 h. Effects of hydrazine concentration ([N2H5OH]/[Sb3+] = 0.75, 5, 10, 20, and 30, when concentration of NaOH was fixed [NaOH]/[Sb3+] = 3) and NaOH concentration ([NaOH]/[Sb3+] = 0, 1, 3, and 5, when concentration of hydrazine was fixed [N2H5OH]/[Sb3+] = 10) on the particle size and shape of the Sb2O3 nanoparticles were investigated. Transmission electron microscope, selected area electron diffraction pattern, and high resolution electron microscope were employed to study the morphology and crystallinity of the nanoparticles. It was observed that the particle size decreased and remained constant when [N2H5OH]/[Sb3+]) ≥ 10 and [NaOH]/[Sb3+] = 3. Further study on the crystallinity and phase of the nanoparticles was assisted by X-ray diffractometer (XRD). XRD revealed a cubic phase of Sb2O3 (ICDD file no. 00-043-1071) with preferred plane of (622) and lattice spacing of 1.68 Å. Correlation between UV–visible absorption wavelengths of the nanoparticles and their sizes was established.  相似文献

We introduce a simple approach for modeling and analyzing asymmetric random polling systems with single buffers and correlated input process. We consider two variations of single buffers system: the conventional system and the buffer relaxation system. In the conventional system, at most one customer may be resided in any queue at any time. In the buffer relaxation system, a buffer becomes available to new customers as soon as the current customer is being served. Previous studies concentrate on conventional single buffer system with independent Poisson process input process. It has been shown that the asymmetric system requires the solution ofm 2 m –1) linear equations; and the symmetric system requires the solution of 2 m–1–1 linear equations, wherem is the number of stations in the system. For both the conventional system and the buffer relaxation system, we give the exact solution to the more general case and show that our analysis requires the solution of 2 m –1 linear equations. For the symmetric case, we obtain explicit expressions for several performance measures of the system. These performance measures include the mean and second moment of the cycle time, loss probability, throughput, and the expected delay observed by a customer.  相似文献

Gynura bicolor (Compositae) is a popular vegetable in Asia and believed to confer a wide range of benefits including anti-cancer. Our previous findings showed that the ethyl acetate extract of G. bicolor possessed cytotoxicity and induced apoptotic and necrotic cell death in human colon carcinoma cells (HCT 116). A combination of column chromatography had been used to purify chemical constituents from the ethyl acetate and water extract of G. bicolor leaves. Eight chemical constituents 5-p-trans-coumaroylquinic acid (I), 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (II), rutin (III), kampferol-3-O-rutinoside (IV), 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid (V), kampferol-3-O-glucoside (VI), guanosine (VII) and chlorogenic acid (VIII) were isolated from G. bicolor grown in Malaysia. To our best knowledge, all chemical constituents were isolated for the first time from G. bicolor leaves except rutin (III). 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid (V), guanosine (VII) and chlorogenic acid (VIII) demonstrated selective cytotoxicity (selective index>3) against HCT 116 cancer cells compared to CCD-18Co human normal colon cells.  相似文献
