We observed an inhomogeneous fluctuation along one-dimensional atomic wires self-assembled on a Si(111) surface using scanning tunneling microscopy. The fluctuation exhibits dynamic behavior at room temperature and is observed only in a specific geometric condition; the spacing between two neighboring adatom defects is discommensurate with the wire lattice. Upon cooling, the dynamic fluctuation freezes to show the existence of an atomic-scale dislocation or domain wall induced by such "unfavorably" paired adatoms. The microscopic characteristics of the dynamic fluctuation are explained in terms of a hopping solitonic domain wall, and a local potential for this motion imposed by the adatoms is quantified. 相似文献

This study investigated the biological conversion of crude glycerol generated from a commercial biodiesel production plant as a by-product to 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PD). Statistical analysis was employed to derive a statistical model for the individual and interactive effects of glycerol, (NH4)2SO4, trace elements, pH, and cultivation time on the four objectives: 1,3-PD concentration, yield, selectivity, and productivity. Optimum conditions for each objective with its maximum value were predicted by statistical optimization, and experiments under the optimum conditions verified the predictions. In addition, by systematic analysis of the values of four objectives, optimum conditions for 1,3-PD concentration (49.8 g/L initial glycerol, 4.0 g/L of (NH4)2SO4, 2.0 mL/L of trace element, pH 7.5, and 11.2 h of cultivation time) were determined to be the global optimum culture conditions for 1,3-PD production. Under these conditions, we could achieve high 1,3-PD yield (47.4%), 1,3-PD selectivity (88.8%), and 1,3-PD productivity (2.1/g/L/h) as well as high 1,3-PD concentration (23.6 g/L). 相似文献

We demonstrate the facile microwave‐assisted synthesis of a porous organic framework 1 and the sulfonated solid ( 1S ) through postsubstitution. Remarkably, the conductivity of 1S showed an approximately 300‐fold enhancement at 30 °C as compared to that of 1 , and reached 7.72×10−2 S cm−1 at 80 °C and 90 % relative humidity. The superprotonic conductivity exceeds that observed for any conductive porous organic polymer reported to date. This material, which is cost‐effective and scalable for mass production, also revealed long‐term performance over more than 3 months without conductivity decay. 相似文献

Reversible diffusion limited cluster aggregation of hard spheres with rigid bonds was simulated and the self-diffusion coefficient was determined for equilibrated systems. The effect of increasing attraction strength was determined for systems at different volume fractions and different interaction ranges. It was found that the slowing down of the diffusion coefficient due to crowding is decoupled from that due to cluster formation. The diffusion coefficient could be calculated from the cluster size distribution and became zero only at infinite attraction strength when permanent gels are formed. It is concluded that so-called attractive glasses are not formed at finite interaction strength. 相似文献

Atomically resolved imaging and spectroscopic characteristics of graphene grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on copper are investigated by means of scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS). For CVD-grown graphene remaining on the copper substrate, the monolayer carbon structures exhibit ripples and appear strongly strained, with different regions exhibiting different lattice structures and electronic density of states (DOS). In particular, ridges appear along the boundaries of different lattice structures, which exhibit excess charging effects. Additionally, the large and non-uniform strain induces pseudo-magnetic field up to ~ 50 T, as manifested by the DOS peaks at quantized energies that correspond to pseudo-magnetic field-induced integer and fractional Landau levels. In contrast, for graphene transferred from copper to SiO2 substrates after the CVD growth, the average strain on the whole diminishes, so do the corresponding charging effects and pseudo-magnetic fields except for sample areas near topological defects. These findings suggest feasible nano-scale “strain engineering” of the electronic states of graphene by proper design of the substrates and growth conditions. 相似文献

Ultrasound-based techniques have been developed and widely used in noninvasive measurement of blood velocity. Speckle image velocimetry (SIV), which applies a cross-correlation algorithm to consecutive B-mode images of blood flow has often been employed owing to its better spatial resolution compared with conventional Doppler-based measurement techniques. The SIV technique utilizes speckles backscattered from red blood cell (RBC) aggregates as flow tracers. Hence, the intensity and size of such speckles are highly dependent on hemodynamic conditions. The grayscale intensity of speckle images varies along the radial direction of blood vessels because of the shear rate dependence of RBC aggregation. This inhomogeneous distribution of echo speckles decreases the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of a cross-correlation analysis and produces spurious results. In the present study, image-enhancement techniques such as contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE), min/max technique, and subtraction of background image (SB) method were applied to speckle images to achieve a more accurate SIV measurement. A mechanical sector ultrasound scanner was used to obtain ultrasound speckle images from rat blood under steady and pulsatile flows. The effects of the image-enhancement techniques on SIV analysis were evaluated by comparing image intensities, velocities, and cross-correlation maps. The velocity profiles and wall shear rate (WSR) obtained from RBC suspension images were compared with the analytical solution for validation. In addition, the image-enhancement techniques were applied to in vivo measurement of blood flow in human vein. The experimental results of both in vitro and in vivo SIV measurements show that the intensity gradient in heterogeneous speckles has substantial influence on the cross-correlation analysis. The image-enhancement techniques used in this study can minimize errors encountered in ultrasound SIV measurement in which RBCs are used as flow tracers instead of exogenous contrast agents. 相似文献

Point defects on the metallic atomic wires induced by Au adsorbates on vicinal Si surfaces were investigated using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM and STS). High-resolution STM images revealed that there exist several different types of defects on the Si(5 5 7)–Au surface, which are categorized by their apparent bias-dependent images and compared to the previous report on Si(5 5 3)–Au [Phys. Rev. B (2007) 205325]. The chemical characteristics of these defects were investigated by monitoring them upon the variation of the Au coverage and the adsorption of water molecules. The chemical origins and the tentative atomic structures of the defects are suggested as Si adatoms (and dimers) in different registries, the Au deficiency on terraces, and water molecules adsorbed dissociatively on step edges, respectively. STS measurements disclosed the electronic property of the majority kinds of defects on both Si(5 5 7)–Au and Si(5 5 3)–Au surfaces. In particular, the dominating water-induced defects on both surfaces induce a substantial band gap of about 0.5 eV in clear contrast to Si adatom-type defects. The conduction channels along the metallic step-edge chains thus must be very susceptible to the contamination through the electronic termination by the water adsorption. 相似文献

Purpose
To describe the patterns of bile distribution in the biliary tree, duodenum, jejunum, and stomach, and to determine the gallbladder ejection fraction (GBEF) by using functional magnetic resonance cholangiography (MRC) with gadolinium-ethoxybenzyl-diethylenetriamine penta-acetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA) in healthy volunteers.Materials and Methods
Forty subjects were included in this study. After conventional MRC, pre-fatty meal MRC (PRFM) was obtained at 30, 40, 50, and 60 min after contrast agent injection. Then, post-fatty meal MRC (POFM) was obtained every 10 min for 1 h. We assessed the PRFM and POFM for opacification of contrast agent in the first- and second-order intrahepatic ducts (IHDs) and the common bile duct (CBD). Contrast agent opacification in the cystic duct was assessed, and the percentage volume of contrast agent filling in the gallbladder (GB) was calculated on PRFM. We calculated the GBEF and assessed the presence of contrast agent in the GB, duodenum, jejunum, and stomach.Results
Thirty-six (90%) subjects showed grade 3 CBD opacification (visible contrast and well-defined bile duct border) on 60-min PRFM. Thirty-four (85%) subjects showed grade 3 first-order IHD opacification on 60-min PRFM. All (100%) subjects showed cystic duct opacification of contrast agent, and the average percentage volume of contrast agent filling in the GB was 68.81% ± 16.84% on 60-min PRFM. The GBEF at 30-min POFM was 35.00% ± 18.26%. Ten (25%) subjects had no contrast agent in the stomach and small bowel on all PRFMs. Twelve (30%) subjects had contrast medium in the stomach on PRFM and/or POFM.Conclusions
Functional MRC with Gd-EOB-DTPA can allow determining the distribution of bile in the biliary tree and small intestine, as well as the GBEF. 相似文献40.

The Fourier transform Raman and infrared spectra of carbamoylazide and its deuterated derivative were recorded and the observed frequencies were assigned to various modes of vibration in terms of fundamentals and combinations by assuming C(s) point group symmetry.
