Multiconfiguration (MC ) SCF calculations are reported for CO2 for bond angles between 60° and 180°. The ground state configuration is found to be …?5a4bba for small bending angles and …?6a3bba for large bending angles, the change in ground state character occurring at a bond angle of about 100°. The force constant for bending obtained from the MC –SCF function is about 8.0% lower than the corresponding SCF value, and in considerably better agreement with experiment.  相似文献

The contact physics of the wheel-rail contact of a railway vehicle under presence of water and ice at low temperatures is still not completely understood. For the investigation of the particular process in the contact zone a simulation is required, which is able to calculate the normal and tangential contact, the temperature field and the fluid-structural interaction between wheel and rail at low temperatures under presence of snow and ice. For that purpose the behaviour of ice under wheel-rail contact conditions is an important part. In this paper the thermal dynamic model of TSHIJOV [1], [3] for an adiabatic ice probe is updated by the new IAPWS equations of state for water [5] and ice phase Ih [4]. In a first approximation an ice specimen is loaded by specific wheel-rail contact pressure distributions calculated by the half-space formulation to clarify if phase transitions of ice can exist. The performance of a number of different local and nonlocal density functional theory (DFT) methods has been investigated for some small titanium—oxygen systems. Equilibrium geometries, ionization potentials, dipole moments, atomization energies, and harmonic vibrational frequencies have been calculated for the TiO, TiO2, and Ti2 molecules, and the results are compared with experimental data and ab initio calculations. It is shown that most DFT methods perform much better than the ab initio Hartree—Fock (HF), second-order perturbation theory (MP2), and configuration interaction including single and double excitations (CISD) treatments. For good agreement with experimental data, gradient corrections to the exchange part of the DFT functional are needed, as well as some type of correction for the errors in the calculated energy splittings between different atomic states of titanium. Hybrid methods including a mixture of HF exchange with DFT exchange correlation do not perform as well as “pure” DFT methods for the studied systems. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A spin-free method is presented for evaluating electronic matrix elements over a spin-independent many-electron Hamiltonian. The spin-adapted basis of configuration state functions is obtained using a nonorthogonal spin basis consisting of projected spin eigenfunctions. The general expressions for the matrix elements are given explicitly, and it is demonstrated how the matrix elements may be obtained simply from the knowledge of the irreducible characters of the permutation group ℒN. The presented formulas are very general and may be applied in connection with both spin-coupled valence bond studies and in conventional configuration interaction (CI) methods based on an orthonormal orbital basis. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

“Ab initio” RHF calculations are used to investigate the chemisorption of a H2 molecule on boron cluster surfaces. Potential energy surfaces and electron charge difference density plots are given. The results obtained indicate that the H2 molecule in certain cases is dissociated on the surface, and that the hydrogen atoms are individually bound to different boron atoms. It is also found that the chemisorbed hydrogen atoms can move almost freely in certain directions parallel to the boron surface.  相似文献

Biotin carboxylase catalyzes the ATP-dependent carboxylation of biotin and is one component of the multienzyme complex acetyl-CoA carboxylase that catalyzes the first committed step in fatty acid synthesis in all organisms. Biotin carboxylase from Escherichia coli, whose crystal structures with and without ATP bound have been determined, has served as a model system for this component of the acetyl-CoA carboxylase complex. The two crystal structures revealed a large conformational change of one domain relative to the other domains when ATP is bound. Unfortunately, the crystal structure with ATP bound was obtained with an inactive site-directed mutant of the enzyme. As a consequence the structure with ATP bound lacked key structural information such as for the Mg2+ ions and contained altered conformations of key active-site residues. Therefore, nanosecond molecular dynamics studies of the wild-type biotin carboxylase were undertaken to supplant and amend the results of the crystal structures. Specifically, the protein-metal interactions of the two catalytically critical Mg2+ ions bound in the active site are presented along with a reevaluation of the conformations of active-site residues bound to ATP. In addition, the regions of the polypeptide chain that serve as hinges for the large conformational change were identified. The results of the hinge analysis complemented a covariance analysis that identified the individual structural elements of biotin carboxylase that change their conformation in response to ATP binding.  相似文献
