We deal with an optimal control problem in coefficients for a strongly degenerate diffusion equation with interior degeneracy, which is due to the nonnegative diffusion coefficient vanishing with some rate at an interior point of a multi-dimensional space domain. The optimal controller is searched in the class of functions having essentially bounded partial derivatives. The existence of the state system and of the optimal control are proved in a functional framework constructed on weighted spaces. By an approximating control process, explicit approximating optimality conditions are deduced, and a representation theorem allows one to express the approximating optimal control as the solution to the eikonal equation. Under certain hypotheses, further properties of the approximating optimal control are proved, including uniqueness in some situations. The uniform convergence of a sequence of approximating controllers to the solution of the exact control problem is provided. The optimal controller is numerically constructed in a square domain.  相似文献

The sensitivity of eigenvalues of structured matrices under general or structured perturbations of the matrix entries has been thoroughly studied in the literature. Error bounds are available, and the pseudospectrum can be computed to gain insight. Few investigations have focused on analyzing the sensitivity of eigenvectors under general or structured perturbations. This paper discusses this sensitivity for tridiagonal Toeplitz and Toeplitz‐type matrices.  相似文献

We study minimum degree conditions for which a graph with given odd girth has a simple structure. For example, the classical work of Andrásfai, Erd?s, and Sós implies that every n‐vertex graph with odd girth and minimum degree bigger than must be bipartite. We consider graphs with a weaker condition on the minimum degree. Generalizing results of Häggkvist and of Häggkvist and Jin for the cases and 3, we show that every n‐vertex graph with odd girth and minimum degree bigger than is homomorphic to the cycle of length . This is best possible in the sense that there are graphs with minimum degree and odd girth that are not homomorphic to the cycle of length . Similar results were obtained by Brandt and Ribe‐Baumann.  相似文献

The symmetric Lanczos method is commonly applied to reduce large‐scale symmetric linear discrete ill‐posed problems to small ones with a symmetric tridiagonal matrix. We investigate how quickly the nonnegative subdiagonal entries of this matrix decay to zero. Their fast decay to zero suggests that there is little benefit in expressing the solution of the discrete ill‐posed problems in terms of the eigenvectors of the matrix compared with using a basis of Lanczos vectors, which are cheaper to compute. Similarly, we show that the solution subspace determined by the LSQR method when applied to the solution of linear discrete ill‐posed problems with a nonsymmetric matrix often can be used instead of the solution subspace determined by the singular value decomposition without significant, if any, reduction of the quality of the computed solution. In this work, a qualitative analysis is carried out for reaction–advection–diffusion (RAD) systems modeling the interactions between two species with Allee effect. In particular, we study different scenarios: mutualism, competition, and a predator–prey relationship in order to investigate the survival or extinction of both populations. Global existence and uniqueness of positive solutions of the proposed RAD problems are demonstrated. Equilibrium states and asymptotic behavior of solutions are obtained using the monotone method and the upper and lower solutions technique. Numerical simulations by a Crank–Nicolson monotone iterative method of the different asymptotic solution dynamics are shown to illustrate our theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, the influence of four types of imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs) on the surface properties of common aspen (Populus tremula) veneers has been studied by using contact angle, electrical conductivity and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis. The measurements showed that wood wettabillity is increased by IL treatment. The electrical conductivities of treated wood were in the 0.5-1 mS/cm range, higher than the ones reported in the reference literature. It has been determined that the ILs decrease the crystallinity and improve the flexibility of the cellulose matrix. It has been determined by photographic image analysis that the surface roughness of the IL treated veneers decreases in comparison with the untreated samples.  相似文献
