The subband structure and effective masses values in quantum-sized film of gapless semiconductors are calculated. Isoenergy surfaces corrugation is taken into account. The results are shown to differ strongly from those got in spherical approximation. The complex subband structure results in a number of peculiarities of kinetic characteristics. Formally one-valley monopolar semiconductor film may behave either like a many-valley on like a bipolar semiconductor.  相似文献

We analyze trapping of diffusing particles by nonoverlapping partially absorbing disks randomly located on a reflecting surface, the problem that arises in many branches of chemical and biological physics. We approach the problem by replacing the heterogeneous boundary condition on the patchy surface by the homogenized partially absorbing boundary condition, which is uniform over the surface. The latter can be used to analyze any problem (internal and external, steady state, and time dependent) in which diffusing particles are trapped by the surface. Our main result is an expression for the effective trapping rate of the homogenized boundary as a function of the fraction of the surface covered by the disks, the disk radius and trapping efficiency, and the particle diffusion constant. We demonstrate excellent accuracy of this expression by testing it against the results of Brownian dynamics simulations. (c) 2004 American Institute of Physics.  相似文献

The static analysis of the flexible non-uniform cantilever beams under a tip-concentrated and intermediate follower forces is considered. The angles of inclination of the concentrated forces with respect to the deformed axis of the beam remain unchanged during deformation. The governing non-linear boundary-value problem is reduced to an initial-value problem by change of variables. The resulting problem can be solved without iterations. It is shown that there are no critical loads in the Euler sense (divergence) for any flexural-stiffness distribution and angles of inclination of the follower forces. In particular, if the follower forces are tangential, the rectilinear shape of the non-uniform cantilever beam is the only possible equilibrium configuration. In this paper some equilibrium configurations of the uniform cantilever under normal or tangential follower forces are presented using direct method.  相似文献

We prove a Helly-type theorem for the family of all m-dimensional convex compact subsets of a Banach space X. The result is formulated in terms of Lipschitz selections of set-valued mappings from a metric space (M, ρ) into this family. Let M be finite and let F be such a mapping satisfying the following condition: for every subset M′ ⊂ M consisting of at most 2m+1 points, the restriction F|M′ of F to M′ has a selection fM′ (i. e., fM′(x) ∈ F(x) for all x ∈ M′) satisfying the Lipschitz condition ‖ƒM′(x) − ƒM′(y)‖X ≤ ρ(x, y), x, y ∈ M′. Then F has a Lipschitz selection ƒ: M → X such that ‖ƒ(x) − ƒ(y)‖X ≤ γρ(x,y), x, y ∈ M where γ is a constant depending only on m and the cardinality of M. We prove that in general, the upper bound of the number of points in M′, 2m+1, is sharp. If dim X = 2, then the result is true for arbitrary (not necessarily finite) metric space. We apply this result to Whitney’s extension problem for spaces of smooth functions. In particular, we obtain a constructive necessary and sufficient condition for a function defined on a closed subset of R 2 to be the restriction of a function from the Sobolev space W 2 (R 2).A similar result is proved for the space of functions on R 2 satisfying the Zygmund condition.  相似文献

In this paper we report new results on the regularity of optimal controls for dynamic optimization problems with functional inequality state constraints, a convex time-dependent control constraint and a coercive cost function. Recently, it has been shown that the linear independence condition on active state constraints, present in the earlier literature, can be replaced by a less restrictive, positive linear independence condition, that requires linear independence merely with respect to non-negative weighting parameters, provided the control constraint set is independent of the time variable. We show that, if the control constraint set, regarded as a time-dependent multifunction, is merely Lipschitz continuous with respect to the time variable, then optimal controls can fail to be Lipschitz continuous. In these circumstances, however, a weaker Hölder continuity-like regularity property can be established. On the other hand, Lipschitz continuity of optimal controls is guaranteed for time-varying control sets under a positive linear independence hypothesis, when the control constraint sets are described, at each time, by a finite collection of functional inequalities.  相似文献

We consider the problem of evaluating the fermion Green's functions in an exterior Abelian-like gauge field. It is shown that in the field considered, the fermion Green's functions are expressed in terms of spinor particle Green's functions in some exterior electromagnetic field.
