Although recently a growing number of reports demonstrate that topography or geometry of the substrate also plays an important role in the fate of the stem cells, most of these studies are usually completed by a few distinct patterns such as simple lines, posts, etc. As a result, there is a lack of quantitative analysis of the relationship between topographical variation and the differentiation of stem cells. Here, the effectiveness of topography variation is studied systematically in several microengineered substrates on osteogenic differentiation. It is found that the effectiveness of the osteogenic differentiation has a peak around 3 μm in the interval length of micropatterns. 相似文献

Aeroelastic analyses are performed for a 2-D typical section model with multiple nonlinearities. The differences between a system with multiple nonlinearities in its pitch and plunge spring and a system with a single nonlinearity in its pitch are thoroughly investigated. The unsteady supersonic aerodynamic forces are calculated by the doublet point method (DPM). The iterative V-g method is used for a multiple-nonlinear aeroelastic analysis in the frequency domain and the freeplay nonlinearity is linearized using a describing function method. In the time domain, the DPM unsteady aerodynamic forces, which are based on a function of the reduced frequency, are approximated by the minimum state approximation method. Consequently, multiple structural nonlinearities in the 2-D typical wing section model are influenced by the pitch to plunge frequency ratio. This result is important in that it demonstrates that the flutter speed is closely connected with the frequency ratio, considering that both pitch and plunge nonlinearities result in a higher flutter speed boundary than a conventional aeroelastic system with only one pitch nonlinearity. Here we report an integrated microdevice consisting of an efficient passive mixer, a magnetic separation chamber, and a capillary electrophoretic microchannel in which DNA barcode assay, target pathogen separation, and barcode DNA capillary electrophoretic analysis were performed sequentially within 30 min for multiplex pathogen detection at the single-cell level. The intestine-shaped serpentine 3D micromixer provides a high mixing rate to generate magnetic particle-pathogenic bacteria-DNA barcode labelled AuNP complexes quantitatively. After magnetic separation and purification of those complexes, the barcode DNA strands were released and analyzed by the microfluidic capillary electrophoresis within 5 min. The size of the barcode DNA strand was controlled depending on the target bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli O157:H7, and Salmonella typhimurium), and the different elution time of the barcode DNA peak in the electropherogram allows us to recognize the target pathogen with ease in the monoplex as well as in the multiplex analysis. In addition, the quantity of the DNA barcode strand (~10(4)) per AuNP is enough to be observed in the laser-induced confocal fluorescence detector, thereby making single-cell analysis possible. This novel integrated microdevice enables us to perform rapid, sensitive, and multiplex pathogen detection with sample-in-answer-out capability to be applied for biosafety testing, environmental screening, and clinical trials. 相似文献

We report here on an efficient one-step-impregnation method to synthesize crystalline mesoporous bimetal oxides (e.g. NiFe(2)O(4), CuFe(2)O(4), Cu/CeO(2)) using mesoporous silicas as hard templates under optimized mixing conditions. The electrohydrodynamic (EHD) jet is becoming increasingly popular within industrial printing areas based on phenomena induced by electrical potentials. Regardless of the physical observations of unstable ejection phenomena in regions possessing high electric potential, quantitative visualization is still necessary; no report exists exemplifying quantitative visualization. Thus, the size, shape and position of EHD droplets were reconstructed in this study using developed three-dimensional tomography methods. Two computer-synthesized phantoms for the liquid meniscus containing small satellite droplets were generated according to actual images captured by two high-speed cameras. These droplets were made in order to numerically reconstruct droplet behavior. Four three-dimensional tomography methods, such as the algebraic reconstruction technique (ART), the adaptive algebraic reconstruction technique (AART), the simultaneous iterative reconstruction technique (SIRT) and the multiplicative algebraic reconstruction technique (MART), were developed to accurately mimic droplet movement using multiple image views. Four basis functions including the cubic B-spline, cosine, o-Moms and Keys basis functions were adopted in order to improve the performance of the tomographic reconstructions. After completing a comparison of the four tomography results, the MART method in association with the cubic cosine basis function was selected as the means to significantly improve reconstruction accuracy. Electrooxidation of glucose is investigated at nanoporous gold (NPG) with controlled surface structures by applying different deposition charges during the formation of Ag? Au layers. As the deposition charge increases, the NPG surfaces exhibit smaller ligament/pore structures and the electrocatalytic oxidation of glucose becomes more effective. Voltammetric responses of NPG suggest that the electrocatalytic oxidation arises from the enrichment of (110) or (100) surface orientation of gold with higher deposition charges. The electrooxidation of glucose is retained at NPG surfaces with higher deposition charges in the presence of Cl?, which suggests possible applications to the amperometric glucose detection in biological samples. 相似文献

Self‐assembly structure, stability, hydrogen‐bonding interaction, and optical properties of a new class of low molecular weight organogelators (LMOGs) formed by salicylanilides 3 and 4 have been investigated by field‐emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), UV/Vis absorption and photoluminescence, as well as theoretical studies by DFT and semiempirical calculations with CI (AM1/PECI=8) methods. It was found that salicylanilides form gels in nonpolar solvents due to π‐stacking interaction complemented by the presence of both inter‐ and intramolecular hydrogen bonding. The supramolecular arrangement in these organogels predicted by XRD shows lamellar and hexagonal columnar structures for gelators 3 and 4 , respectively. Of particular interest is the observation of significant fluorescence enhancement accompanying gelation, which was ascribed to the formation of J‐aggregates and inhibition of intramolecular rotation in the gel state. 相似文献
