We measure the top quark mass (m(t)) in p ?p collisions at a center of mass energy √s = 1.96 TeV using dilepton t ?t→W(+)bW(-) ?b→?(+)ν(?)b?(-) ?ν(?) ?b events, where ? denotes an electron, a muon, or a tau that decays leptonically. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb(-1) collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We obtain m(t)=174.0±1.8(stat)±2.4(syst) GeV, which is in agreement with the current world average m(t)=173.3±1.1 GeV. This is currently the most precise measurement of m(t) in the dilepton channel.  相似文献

The stability and reactivity of ?, χ, and θ iron carbide phases in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) catalysts as a function of relevant reaction conditions was investigated by a synergistic combination of experimental and theoretical methods. Combined in situ X-ray Absorption Fine Structure Spectroscopy/X-ray Diffraction/Raman Spectroscopy was applied to study Fe-based catalysts during pretreatment and, for the first time, at relevant high pressure Fischer-Tropsch synthesis conditions, while Density Functional Theory calculations formed a fundamental basis for understanding the influence of pretreatment and FTS conditions on the formation of bulk iron carbide phases. By combining theory and experiment, it was found that the formation of θ-Fe(3)C, χ-Fe(5)C(2), and ?-carbides can be explained by their relative thermodynamic stability as imposed by gas phase composition and temperature. Furthermore, it was shown that a significant part of the Fe phases was present as amorphous carbide phases during high pressure FTS, sometimes in an equivalent amount to the crystalline iron carbide fraction. A catalyst containing mainly crystalline χ-Fe(5)C(2) was highly susceptible to oxidation during FTS conditions, while a catalyst containing θ-Fe(3)C and amorphous carbide phases showed a lower activity and selectivity, mainly due to the buildup of carbonaceous deposits on the catalyst surface, suggesting that amorphous phases and the resulting textural properties play an important role in determining final catalyst performance. The findings further uncovered the thermodynamic and kinetic factors inducing the ?-χ-θ carbide transformation as a function of the carbon chemical potential μ(C).  相似文献

In a previous publication by Lusk and Beale [Phys. Rev. E 69, 026117 (2004)], fluctuating cell (FC) theory was used to estimate the free energy of symmetric tilt grain boundaries in an assembly of nearly hard disks. The FC method is much faster than the more traditional thermodynamic integration, but the accuracy of the algorithm has not been assessed in association with persistent defect structures. This motivated the present work wherein the FC free energies are compared directly with the data obtained via thermodynamic integration from an Einstein crystal to an assembly of hard disks. This comparison is made over the range of possible misorientations for symmetric tilt boundaries and indicates that the FC method gives quantitatively accurate estimates for grain-boundary free energy. We also demsonstrate that the FC approximation is quantitatively accurate at determining the free-energy contribution of each particle whether in the bulk or the grain boundary. The FC calculation is about two orders of magnitude faster than a full thermodynamic integration. This approach may offer a numerically efficient means of estimating the free energy of persistent defect structures to greater accuracy than is afforded by the quasiharmonic and local harmonic approximations.  相似文献

We report on a search for large extra dimensions in a data sample of approximately 1 fb(-1) of pp[over] collisions at sqrt s=1.96 TeV. We investigate Kaluza-Klein graviton production with a photon and missing transverse energy in the final state. At the 95% C.L. we set limits on the fundamental mass scale M(D) from 884 to 778 GeV for two to eight extra dimensions.  相似文献

This Letter describes the search for a new heavy charged gauge boson W' decaying into an electron and a neutrino. The data were collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp[over] Collider at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of about 1 fb(-1). Lacking any significant excess in the data in comparison with known processes, an upper limit is set on sigma_(W') x B(W')-->e nu), and a W' boson with mass below 1.00 TeV can be excluded at the 95% C.L., assuming standard-model-like couplings to fermions. This result significantly improves upon previous limits and is the most stringent to date.  相似文献

We study the behavior of solutions of the one-dimensional Broadwell model of a discrete velocity gas. The particles have velocity ±1 or 0; the total mass is assumed finite. We show that at large time the interaction is negligible and the solution tends to a free state in which all the mass travels outward at speed 1.
