Experimental measurements of power spectra of a single longitudinal and transverse mode ring dye laser are presented that reveal the critical slowing down of the laser near threshold. External pump noise serves as a probe of the frequency response of the dye laser. Detailed comparisons of the spectral characteristics with computer simulations and an approximate analytic theory are given. The dynamics of spatial pattern formation in a multimode dye laser is examined through measurements of first-passage-time distributions. A comparison of the experiments with computer simulations based on a simple theoretical model of the two-mode laser shows qualitative agreement. These measurements indicate that there are a variety of complex phenomena associated with the transverse mode pattern formation dynamics that need to be addressed theoretically and studied further experimentally.  相似文献

The complexes of adriamycin–d‐(TGATCA)2 and 4′‐epiadriamycin–d‐(CGATCG)2 are studied by one‐ and two‐dimensional 31P nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) at 500 MHz in the temperature range 275–328 K and as a function of drug to DNA ratio (0.0–2.0). The binding of drug to DNA is clearly evident in 31P? 31P exchange NOESY spectra that shows two sets of resonances in slow chemical exchange. The phosphate resonances at the intercalating steps, T1pG2/C1pG2 and C5pA6/C5pG6, shift downfield up to 1.7 ppm and that at the adjacent step shift downfield up to 0.7 ppm, whereas the central phosphate A3pT4 is relatively unaffected. The variations of chemical shift with drug to DNA ratio and temperature as well as linewidths are different in each of the two complexes. These observations reflect change in population of BI/BII conformation, stretching of backbone torsional angle ζ, and distortions in O? P? O bond angles that occur on binding of drug to DNA. To the best of our knowledge, there are no solution studies on 4′‐epiadriamycin, a better tolerated drug, and binding of daunomycin or its analogue to d‐(TGATCA)2 hexamer sequence. The studies report the use of 31P NMR as a tool to differentiate various complexes. The specific differences may well be the reasons that are responsible for different antitumor action of these drugs due to different binding ability and distortions in DNA. Instantaneous, two-dimensional velocity measurements were conducted in the axial plane of a self-similar turbulent axisymmetric jet. The velocity fields were high-pass filtered to expose the vortical structures. An automated method was used to identify the radial and axial coordinates of the vortex centers and rotational sense, and to measure their size, circulation, vorticity, and energy. New insights into turbulent jets are obtained by plotting statistical distributions for vortex properties as functions of Reynolds number and radial position. While the probability of finding a vortex is uniform up to the edge of the jet, the strongest eddies in the high-pass filtered field occur near the jet axis. The average circulation is directly proportional to the vortex size. The Reynolds number strongly affects the average vorticity, circulation, and energy of the eddies. However, the normalized curves show a good collapse implying that the jet is indeed self-similar. Results for the left and right half-planes of the jet are also presented. Interestingly, we find that contrary to customary drawings of jet flows, a substantial number of both clockwise and counter-clockwise rotating eddies exist on both sides of the jet axis, with almost equal numbers of oppositely rotating vortices close to the jet axis. Further, the disparity in the number of oppositely rotating eddies in each half-plane increases with the eddy size. Nevertheless, these results are consistent with the well-known radial vorticity distribution of axisymmetric jets.  相似文献

The flux-form incremental remapping transport scheme introduced by Dukowicz and Baumgardner [1] converts the transport problem into a remapping problem. This involves identifying overlap areas between quadrilateral flux-areas and regular square grid cells which is non-trivial and leads to some algorithm complexity. In the simpler swept area approach (originally introduced by Hirt et al. [2]) the search for overlap areas is eliminated even if the flux-areas overlap several regular grid cells. The resulting simplified scheme leads to a much simpler and robust algorithm.  相似文献

Nanosize zinc ferrite particles, prepared by nitrate method, were investigated by XRD, TEM, 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy and VSM. The average particle size in this system varies from 10 to 62 nm as the sintering temperature increases from 300°C to 1,000°C. The lattice parameters in this system are almost constant at a value of ~8.41 Å. The Mössbauer spectra of all the sintered samples show a single doublet. The Mössbauer hyperfine parameters show little change with the change of sintering temperature. The doublets are ascribed to the presence of superparamagnetism in this system, which is also corroborated by the VSM measurements.  相似文献

A literal model using geometric examination was formulated to calculate the optimum width and length of multimode interference structure used in the 1 × 2 power splitter and plot electric field intensity for input and each output signal. Designing and simulation of the wavelength response of 1 × 2 splitter using Tapered and MMI assisted structure. Mechanism on the critical geographical parameters like length and width of MMI structure, separation distance between output ports ‘S’, arm angle ‘α’ which give the optimum power and electric field intensity for the considered necessary wavelength.
