A Facile Synthesis of 7,8-DI Aryl Coumarino and Flavano Benzo-Thiophenes

The key step for the synthesis of 7-hydroxy 2,3-diarylsubstituted benzothiophenes 5a-f , by starting from substituted 2-aryl-2-((2-methoxy phenyl)thio)acetophenones 3a-f as an intermediate, consists of a Friedel-Crafts cyclization followed by demethylation by Lewis acids like BF 3 OEt 2 and AlCl 3 in DCM.     

Cyclohexanones--Source for Selena/Thiadiazoles and Diazaphospholes

Some new heterocyclic compounds containing selenadiazole, thiadiazole and diazaphosphole fused to cyclohexanones have been prepared and characterized by spectral data.     

SYNTHESIS AND SPECTRAL STUDIES OF SOME NEW [(ALKOXYCARBONYLVINYL)ARYL- AND BENZYLSULFONYLMETHYL] SULFONES

Abstract

Some new 1,1,2-trisubstituted ethylenic sulfones have been prepared by the condensation of aryl- and benzylsulfonylmethylsulfonylacetic acid esters with araldehydes.     

The efect of the couple stress parameter and Prandtl number on the transient natural convection flow over a vertical cylinder

An analysis is performed to study transient free convective boundary layer flow of a couple stress fluid over a vertical cylinder, in the absence of body couples. The solution of the time-dependent non-linear and coupled governing equations is carried out with the aid of an unconditionally stable Crank–Nicolson type of numerical scheme. Numerical results for the steady-state velocity, temperature as well as the time histories of the skin-friction coefcient and Nusselt number are presented graphically and discussed. It is seen that for all flow variables as the couple stress control parameter, Co, is amplified, the time required for reaching the temporal maximum increases but the steady-state decreases.     

Chemical synthesis and magnetic properties of HCP and FCC nickel nanoparticles

In this study, we successfully synthesized single-phase hexagonal closed packed (HCP) and face-centered cubic (FCC) nickel nanoparticles via reduction of nickel nitrate hexahydrate and nickel acetate tetrahydrate, respectively, in polyethylene glycol-200. Structural information of the as-synthesized nickel nanoparticles are studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) as a function of the molar concentration of the nickel precursor. XRD results reveal that low concentrations of nickel precursor (0.005?M and below) favor the HCP, while high concentrations favor the mixture of HCP and FCC crystal structures. Particle size of HCP structure is found in the range of ～15?nm via transmission electron microscope analysis. Vibratory sample magnetometer is employed to study its magnetic behavior and the results reveal that FCC crystalline phase shows ferromagnetic nature with high saturation magnetization (M _s?～?39.6?emu?gm^?1) as compared to metastable HCP crystalline structure (M _s?～?2?emu?gm^?1). The surfactants bonding on the surface of nickel nanoparticles are studied.     

Custom‐Fit Ruthenium(II) Metallopeptides: A New Twist to DNA Binding With Coordination Compounds

A new bipyridine building block has been used for the solid‐phase synthesis of dinuclear DNA‐binding ruthenium(II) metallopeptides. Detailed spectroscopic studies suggest that these compounds bind to the DNA by insertion into the DNA minor groove. Moreover, the potential of the solid‐phase peptide synthesis approach is demonstrated by the straightforward synthesis of an octaarginine derivative that shows effective cellular internalization and cytotoxicity linked with strong DNA interaction, as evidenced by steady‐state fluorescence spectroscopy and AFM studies.     

Total synthesis of the 2,6-disubstituted piperidine alkaloid (−)-andrachcinidine

The total synthesis of the 2,6-disubstituted piperidine alkaloid (?)-andrachcinidine is reported using Keck’s asymmetric allylation, Sharpless epoxidation, nucleophilic substitution, and intramolecular aza-Michael addition as the key steps.     

A convergent approach for the total synthesis of the α-glucosidase inhibitor (−)-panaxjapyne-C

The stereoselective total synthesis of (?)-panaxjapyne-C was accomplished in a convergent fashion. The synthesis utilizes the readily available enantiomers l-(+)-diethyltartrate and d-(?)-diethyltartrate and involves a Cadiot–Chodkiewicz coupling reaction, and an Ohira–Bestmann reaction as the key steps.     

Microwave synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of manganese oxalate nanocrystals

The microwave synthesis of MnC₂O₄·2H₂O nanoparticles was performed through the thermal double decomposition of oxalic acid dihydrate (C₂H₂O₄·2H₂O) and Mn(OAc)₂·4H2O solutions using a CATA-2R microwave reactor. Structural characterization was performed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), particle size and shape were analyzed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The chemical in the structures was investigated using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) as well as optical absorption spectra and near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopies. The nanocrystals produced with this method were pure and had a distorted rhombic octahedral structure.
