New stimuli‐responsive nanomaterials, made up of host–guest lipidic cubic phases (LCPs) are presented. These biocompatible, stable, transparent and water‐insoluble LCPs are composed of monoolein (MO) as a neutral host, and small amounts of one of three judiciously designed and synthesized designer lipids as guest that preserve the structure and stability of LCPs, but render them specific functionalities. Efficient pH‐ and light‐induced binding, release and sequestration of hydrophilic dyes are demonstrated. Significantly, these processes can be performed sequentially, thereby achieving both temporal and dosage control, opening up the possibility of using such LCPs as effective carriers to be used in drug delivery applications. Specifically, because of the inherent optical transparency and molecular isotropy of LCPs they can be envisaged as light‐induced drug carriers in ophthalmology. The results presented here demonstrate the potential of molecular design in creating new functional materials with predicted operating mode.  相似文献

Phospholipids are ubiquitous cell membrane components and relatively well-accepted ingredients due to their natural origin. Phosphatidylcholine (PC) in particular offers a promising alternative to monoglycerides for lyotropic liquid crystalline (LLC) delivery system applications in the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries, provided its strong tendency to form zero-mean curvature lamellar mesophases in water can be overcome. Summary: Two different approaches to obtain electron donor-acceptor interfaces via self-assembly of block copolymer systems are discussed, where the donor domains are formed by a π-conjugated rod-like polymer and the acceptor domains result from a coiled polymer modified by C60 fullerenes. In the first strategy, C60 is chemically grafted onto the coil polymer, typically a statistical copolymer of styrene and chloromethyl styrene. This has as major effect the increase in molecular weight and volume fraction of the coil block, which can markedly perturb the self-assembled block copolymer final morphologies and eventually suppress any microseparated nanostructure in favour of fully isotropic homogeneous phases. We discuss how the presence of free homopolymer rods in the system can help recovering a microphase separated morphology suitable for photovoltaic applications. In the second approach we discuss the poly(diethylhexyl-p-phenylenevinylene-b-4-vinylpyridine) (PPV-P4VP) rod-coil block copolymer system and we argue how supramolecular interactions among P4VP and free C60 can be exploited to blend rod-coil block copolymers and C60 preserving the original lamellar phase.  相似文献

We describe how cationic dendronized polymers of generations 1, and 2 and anionic monoalkyl tails can be combined by supramolecular ionic complexation into comb-like liquid crystalline polymers. The final structures in bulk of these supramolecular complexes were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), cross-polarized optical microscopy (CPOM), small angle x-rays scattering (SAXS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The combination of these techniques allowed elucidating (i) that these complexes exhibit thermotropic behaviour, (ii) that various liquid crystalline structures in the 3–5 nm length scale can be obtained such as columnar rectangular, columnar tetragonal, columnar hexagonal and lamellar, depending both on alkyl tail length and polymer generation, (iii) that although the alkyl tails represent the majority phase in the columnar phases, they form the cylindric domains, and the dendronized polymers occupy the continuous domains. Therefore, upon selective cleavage of the alkyl tails in the columnar phases, the present self-assembly approach may constitute an efficient strategy towards the formation of porous organic matrices with ultra-dense pore size in the range of 2 to 4 nm.  相似文献

When irradiated with visible light (λ > 400 nm) 1 wt % gold-supported ceria nanoparticles generate oxygen from water (10.5 μmol·h(-1)) more efficiently than the standard WO(3) (1.7 μmol·h(-1)) even under UV irradiation (9.5 μmol·h(-1)). This remarkable photocatalytic activity arises from a novel preparation method to reduce the particle size of ceria (5 nm) by means of electrostatic binding of Ce(4+) to alginate gel, subsequent supercritical CO(2) drying, and calcination. The low loading of Au is crucial for the observed high catalytic activity.  相似文献

Heat treatments can cause degradation in tomatoes of lycopene which has important antioxidant effects. No information about decimal reduction time (D100) of lycopene is available. D-value is the time required at a given temperature to reduce 90% of the molecule. This study for the first time determine the kinetic of lycopene thermal degradation. The content was measured at regular intervals of pasteurization using canned tomato paste to determinate D value. Microbiological analysis was carried out to verify product stability after packaging. Yeasts, molds and lactic acid bacteria were determined. The pasteurization time allowed to observe a loss of the red color. Lycopene content, after an increase at 8 min, decreased at 32 min of pasteurization. D100 value was calculated at 75 min; a diminution of 90% in lycopene content in the concentrated tomato paste was observed. Microbiological analysis confirmed the stability of products after 8 min of pasteurization.  相似文献

A new route to synthesize cyclophellitol and epi-cyclophellitol from racemic starting materials in enantiopure forms has been developed. The synthesis involves a multi-enzymatic biotransformation pathway of the novel cyano-cyclitol (1R,4S,5R,6R)/(1S,4R,5S,6S)-4,5,6-trihydroxycyclohex-2-enecarbonitrile by a cooperative use of lipase, nitrile hydratase, and amidase.  相似文献

The solvation free energy ΔGsol of molecules exhibiting the anomeric effect is computed in an approach that considers a continuous distribution for the solvent. A partition of ΔGsol into separately evaluated contributions confirms that changes in the energy of the systems due to changes in conformation of the solute are ruled by the electrostatic contribution. A comparison with the “exact” values indicates that the approximate expression for the electrostatic contribution to ΔGsol are not accurate enough to permit a proper modeling of the solvent influence on the anomeric effect. The systems are composed of methanediol, methoxymethanol, dimethoxymethane, and 2-methoxytetrahydropyran in carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, acetone, and water. The calculations have been performed at the SCF level with the STO -3G and 4–31G basis sets.  相似文献

A new water soluble receptor 5,11,17,23-tetrasulphonato-25,27-di(hydroxycarbonylmethoxy)-26,28-dihydroxycalix[4]arene was synthesized andcharacterized and its proton and copper(II) complexes were studied andcompared with the analogous species of the fully carboxylated ligand5,11,17,23-tetrasulphonato-25,26,27,28-tetrakis(hydroxycarbonylmethoxy)calix[4]arene. H° and S° values are crucial for understanding thepeculiar acid-base properties of the ligand. Dysphania ambrosioides (L.) Mosyakin and Clemants is an annual or ephemeral perennial herb used traditionally in the Mediterranean region in folk medicine to treat various illnesses, including those related to the digestive system. This study aims to assess the antispasmodic, myorelaxant, and antioxidant effects of D. ambrosioides flower hydroethanolic extract and its chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions in a comparative study to evaluate the result of the extraction type on the potential activity of the extract. Both rat and rabbit jejunum were used to evaluate the antispasmodic and myorelaxant effect, while the antioxidant effect was evaluated using DPPH, a ferric reducing power assay, and a beta-carotene bleaching test. LC/MS-MS analysis was carried out to reveal the composition of the different types of extract. Following the results, the hydroethanolic extract showed a significant myorelaxant effect (IC50 = 0.39 ± 0.01 mg/mL). Moreover, it was shown that the hydroethanolic extract demonstrated the best antispasmodic activity (IC50 = 0.51 ± 0.05 mg/mL), followed by the ethyl acetate (IC50 = 4.05 ± 0.32 mg/mL) and chloroform (IC50 = 4.34 ± 0.45 mg/mL) fractions. The antioxidant tests showed that the hydroethanolic extract demonstrated high antioxidant activity, followed by the ethyl acetate and chloroform fractions. The LC/MS-MS analysis indicates that the plant extract was rich in flavonoids, to which the extract activity has been attributed. This study supports the traditional use of this plant to treat digestive problems, especially those with spasms.  相似文献
