Temperature dependence of the refractive indices in semiconductors

Hilic MS/MS determination of amino acids in herbs of Fumaria schleicheri L., Ocimum basilicum L., and leaves of Corylus avellana L.

The aim of research was to study the content of amino acids using in extracts of Fumaria schleicheri L., Ocimum basilicum L., and Corylus avellana L. by HILIC MS/MS method. Separation of amino acids in the samples was carried out with Acquity H-class UPLC system (Waters, Milford, USA) equipped with SeQuant ZIC-Hilic collumn (2.1 × 150 mm, 3.5 μm) (Merck Millipore, Darmstadt, Germany). The MS/MS fragment ion chromatograms of the test solutions established the presence of 19 amino acids. The obtained results have shown that O. basilicum L. characterized the highest concentrations of different neurogenic amino acids (128.1 mg/kg), comparing with F. schleicheri L. and C. avellana L. (57.72 and 52.91 mg/kg, respectively).     

Stereocontrolled synthesis of low-molecular-weight β-O-glycosides from products of decyclization of acylated oligosaccharide glycals

Investigation of azomethine group vibrations in aromatic schiff bases and their N-oxides by vibrational spectroscopy methods

The effects of fluorine substitution in benzene rings and quaternization of the nitrogen atom in Schiff bases of the general formula R−CH=N−R′ on the vibration characteristics of the azomethine group are analyzed. Normal vibrations and intensities of IR bands are calculated. It is shown that the spectroscopic behavior of the C=N bond is almost independent of the electronic effects of substituents in the benzene rings of the molecules studied, and the changes in the intensities of ν_C=N bands are caused by interactions between vibrations. This points to the stability of this bond in the series of molecules under consideration. For diphenylnitrones, N→O vibrations are identified. L. M. Influence of reinforcement and elastic foundation on the vibrations of shallow shells with rectangular planform

A method for determining the natural frequencies and modes of ribbed shallow shells with rectangular planform on an elastic foundation is developed. The method takes into account the discrete arrangement of the ribs. A shallow spherical shell with square planform is considered as example to analyze the effect of the number of ribs and the Winkler and Pasternak coefficients of subgrade reaction on the natural frequencies and modes. It is recommended to take into account the discrete arrangement of ribs when they are few     

Electroluminescence of ion-exchange polymeric membranes in the swollen state

The first results on the electroluminescence of the MK-40L, MK-40K, MF-4SK, MA-40L, MA-41L, MA-40K, and MA-41K ion-exchange polymeric membranes in the swollen state are reported. It was found that electroluminescence had the character of flashes. Intensity and time characteristics of electroluminescence were determined over the range of NaCl solution concentrations from 0 to 0.1 M. The special features of electroluminescence from the ion-exchange membranes were determined from their photographs. It was found that the membranes in the air-dry state did not exhibit electroluminescence.

An optical cuvette for orientation of gelatinous media and measurements of their spectral-polarization characteristics

The design characteristics of the optical cuvette suggested here provide the possibility of accomplishing the uniaxial orientation of gels with retention of the constancy of their volume, which makes it possible to carry out highly accurate polarization measurements with commercial spectropolarimeters in directions parallel and perpendicular to the axis of orientation. Using as examples polyacrylamide gels containing biologically important molecules and membranes, the possibility of measuring absorption spectra, the linear dichroism, and the dispersion of optical rotation is demonstrated.
