Background  

Our group previously demonstrated that a DNA plasmid encoding the mycobacterial 65-kDa heat shock protein (DNA-HSP65) displayed prophylactic and therapeutic effect in a mice model for tuberculosis. This protection was attributed to induction of a strong cellular immunity against HSP65. As specific immunity to HSP60 family has been detected in arthritis, multiple sclerosis and diabetes, the vaccination procedure with DNA-HSP65 could induce a cross-reactive immune response that could trigger or worsen these autoimmune diseases.  相似文献

The new double-Schiff-base ligand H6ipa-bhea has been synthesized by condensation of a 4,6-diformylresorcinol derivative (ipa) with two equivalents of N,N-bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine (bhea). Reaction with copper(II) perchlorate leads to the formation of two different products depending on the reaction conditions. The directed synthesis of either a mononuclear or dinuclear copper(II) complex is reported. The reaction in methanol results in the formation of a dinuclear complex [Cu2(H4ipa-bhea)](ClO4)2 (1). Whereas in the presence of water as solvent for the reaction, one imine side chain of the ligand is hydrolyzed regenerating the formyl moiety with the mononuclear complex [Cu(H3hyforsa-bhea)]ClO4 · 2H2O (2) as final product. Subsequent reaction of complex 2 with N,N-bis-(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)ethylenediamine (unspenp) as additional amine component results in the formation of the mononuclear complex [Cu(Hhyforsa-unspenp)]ClO4 (3). All complexes are characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and X-ray crystallography. Temperature-dependent magnetic measurements on the dinuclear complex indicate weak antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between the copper(II) ions with a coupling constant of J = ?16.4 cm?1. Density functional calculations have been used to evaluate the magnetic properties. The exchange coupling constant can be nicely reproduced with the use of the broken symmetry approach. The exchange pathway through the meta-phenylene-linkage is discussed in terms of a competitive spin-polarization and superexchange mechanism as well as geometrical changes at the copper(II) ions.  相似文献

Cubic boron nitride thin films have been ion-beam-assisted deposited on silicon cantilever structures and subsequently back-etched in order to study the stress evolution and finally the growth mechanisms. After each sputtering step, the film stress, the remaining thickness, and the IR data were examined. In this way, the layered sequence of cBN on top of a hBN base layer, influencing the development of the intrinsic film stress, could be studied in detail. The observed stress distribution can be divided into three regions. First, a non-cubic base layer with a constant stress value is formed, followed by a linear increase in the stress after cBN nucleation as a result of the coalescence of cBN nanocrystals. Finally, the stress reaches a second plateau characteristic of the cBN top layer. In addition, the layered sequence was verified by the evolution of the FTIR spectra. Furthermore, the fraction of the sp2-bonded material of the cBN top layer was determined from the IR data. For various deposition conditions, a linear relationship between the stress of the nanocrystalline cBN top layer and the amount of sp3-bonded material was observed. From this, it can be concluded that stress relaxation occurs at the sp2-bonded grain boundary material. No evidence for stress relaxation after cBN nucleation was found. Inelastic scattering induces dephasing in mesoscopic systems. An analysis of previous models to simulate inelastic scattering in such systems is presented and a relatively new model based on wave attenuation is introduced. The problem of Aharonov-Bohm (AB) oscillations in conductance of a mesoscopic ring is studied. We show that the conductance is symmetric under flux reversal and the visibility of AB oscillations decays to zero as a function of the incoherence parameter, signaling dephasing. Further the wave attenuation model is applied to a fundamental problem in quantum mechanics, that of the conditional (reflection/transmission) times spent in a given region of space by a quantum particle before scattering off from that region.  相似文献

The exact solutions are obtained for a one-dimensional model of a scattering and absorbing medium. The results are given for both the reflected and transmitted radiance for any arbitrary surface albedo as well as for the interior radiance. These same quantities are calculated by the matrix operator method. The relative error of the solutions is obtained by comparison with the exact solutions as well as by an error analysis of the equations. The importance of an accurate starting value for the reflection and transmission operators is shown. A fourth-order Runge-Kutta method can be used to solve the differential equations satisfied by these operators in order to obtain such accurate starting values. Except for extremely large values of the optical thickness of a layer, the reflection and transmission operators calculated from accurate starting values obtained by the Runge-Kutta method are orders of magnitude (a factor of 1011 better in a typical case at unit optical depth) more accurate than those obtained by the use of the single scattering approximation for an optically thin layer. The relative error in the reflection and transmission operators is less than 10-12 and 10-8 respectively up to an optical thickness of 32,768 when calculated by this procedure, while the relative error in the interior radiance is less than 10-8 at all points within a layer of optical thickness 32,768. It is shown that flux conservation is a poor test of the accuracy of a numerical method, since flux is conserved to all orders for a conservative medium when the doubling method is used, no matter how inaccurate the starting values may be.  相似文献

The reaction of benzyl 2-amino-4,6-O-benzylidene-2-deoxy-α-D -glucopyranoside (HL) with the metal salts Cu(ClO4)2 ⋅ 6 H2O and Ni(NO3)2 ⋅ 6 H2O affords via self-assembly a tetranuclear μ4-hydroxido bridged copper(II) complex [(μ4-OH)Cu4(L)4(MeOH)3(H2O)](ClO4)3 ( 1 ) and a trinuclear alcoholate bridged nickel(II) complex [Ni3(L)5(HL)]NO3 ( 2 ), respectively. Both complexes crystallize in the acentric space group P21. The X-ray crystal structure reveals the rare (μ4-OH)Cu4O4 core for complex 1 which is μ2-alcoholate bridged. The copper(II) ions possess a distorted square-pyramidal geometry with an [NO4] donor set. The core is stabilized by hydrogen bonding between the coordinating amino group of the glucose backbone and the benzylidene protected oxygen atom O4 of a neighboring {Cu(L)} fragment as hydrogen-bond acceptor. For complex 2 an [N4O2] donor set is observed at the nickel(II) ions with a distorted octahedral geometry. The trinuclear isosceles Ni3 core is bridged by μ3-alcoholate O3 oxygen atoms of two glucose ligands. The two short edges are capped by μ2-alcoholate O3 oxygen atoms of the two ligands coordinated at the nickel(II) ion at the vertex of these two edges. Along the elongated edge of the triangle a strong hydrogen bond (244 pm) between the O3 oxygen atoms of ligands coordinating at the two relevant nickel(II) ions is observed. The coordinating amino groups of the these two glucose ligands are involved in additional hydrogen bonds with O4 oxygen atoms of adjacent ligands further stabilizing the trinuclear core. The carbohydrate backbones in all cases adopt the stable 4C1 chair conformation and exhibit the rare chitosan-like trans-2,3-chelation. Temperature dependent magnetic measurements indicate an overall antiferromagnetic behavior for complex 1 with J1=−260 and J2=−205 cm−1 (g=2.122). Compound 2 is the first ferromagnetically coupled trinuclear nickel(II) complex with JA=16.4 and JB=11.0 cm−1 (g1,2=2.183, g3=2.247). For the high-spin nickel(II) centers a zero-field splitting of D1,2=3.7 cm−1 and D3=1.8 cm−1 is observed. The S=3 ground state of complex 2 is consistent with magnetization measurements at low temperatures.  相似文献

Low energy electron microscope measurements of the thermal motion of 50-200 nm diameter Pb islands on Cu(111) are used to establish the nature and determine the strength of interactions that give rise to self-assembly in this two-dimensional, two-phase system. The results show that self-assembled patterns arise from a temperature-independent surface stress difference of approximately 1.2 N/m between the two phases. With increasing Pb coverage, the domain patterns evolve in a manner consistent with models based on dipolar repulsions caused by elastic interactions due to a surface stress difference.  相似文献

The interior radiances are calculated within an optically deep absorbing medium scattering according to the Haze L phase function. The dependence on the solar zenith angle, the single scattering albedo, and the optical depth within the medium is calculated by the matrix operator method. The development of the asymptotic angular distribution of the radiance in the diffusion region is illustrated through a number of examples; it depends only on the single scattering albedo and on the phase function for single scattering. The exact values of the radiance in the diffusion region are compared with values calculated from the approximate equations proposed by Van de Hulst. The variation of the radiance near the lower boundary of an optically thick medium is illustrated with examples. The attenuation length is calculated for various single scattering albedos and compared with the corresponding values for Rayleigh scattering. The ratio of the upward to the downward flux is found to be remarkably constant within the medium. The heating rate is calculated and found to have a maximum value at an optical depth of two within a Haze L layer when the sun is at the zenith. The location of this maximum moves toward the top of the haze layer as the solar zenith angle increases and also as the single scattering albedo decreases. When the single scattering albedo is less than 0·8, the downward flux is so small within the diffusion region that experimental measurements are probably not possible.  相似文献
