高能强子–强子碰撞中喷注性质的蒙特卡洛研究

在喷注“圆锥判定法”的基础上,对高能强子–强子碰撞中产生的喷注(微喷注)的性质进行了蒙特卡洛研究.采用以喷注动量为z轴的“喷注坐标系”,给出了表征喷注性质的各物理量在新坐标系中的分布情况.结果表明,圆锥判定法能够作为一种有效手段来对高能强子–强子碰撞和相对论重离子碰撞中发生的硬和半硬过程开展实验研究.由有喷注事件和无喷注事件的多重数分布可以看到,E_t=2GeV是用圆锥法确定喷注的合理的横能截断值.     

Holomorphic K-Theory, Algebraic Co-cycles, and Loop Groups

In this paper we study the holomorphic K-theory of a projective variety. This K-theory is defined in terms of the homotopy type of spaces of holomorphic maps from the variety to Grassmannians and loop groups. This theory is built out of studying algebraic bundles over a variety up to algebraic equivalence. In this paper we will give calculations of this theory for flag like varieties which include projective spaces, Grassmannians, flag manifolds, and more general homogeneous spaces, and also give a complete calculation for symmetric products of projective spaces. Using the algebraic geometric definition of the Chern character studied by the authors we will show that there is a rational isomorphism of graded rings between holomorphic K-theory and the appropriate morphic cohomology groups, in terms of algebraic co-cycles in the variety. In so doing we describe a geometric model for rational morphic cohomology groups in terms of the homotopy type of the space of algebraic maps from the variety to the symmetrized loop group U(n)/ _n where the symmetric group _n acts on U(n) via conjugation. This is equivalent to studying algebraic maps to the quotient of the infinite Grassmannians BU(k) by a similar symmetric group action. We then use the Chern character isomorphism to prove a conjecture of Friedlander and Walker stating that if one localizes holomorphic K-theory by inverting the Bott class, then rationally this is isomorphic to topological K-theory. Finally this will allows us to produce explicit obstructions to periodicity in holomorphic K-theory, and show that these obstructions vanish for generalized flag mani-folds.     

Laser-hole boring into overdense plasmas measured with soft X-Ray laser probing

A laser self-focused channel formation into overdense plasmas was observed using a soft x-ray laser probe system with a grid image refractometry (GIR) technique. 1.053 &mgr;m laser light with a 100 ps pulse duration was focused onto a preformed plasma at an intensity of 2x10(17) W/cm (2). Cross sections of the channel were obtained which show a 30 &mgr;m diameter in overdense plasmas. The channel width in the overdense region was kept narrow as a result of self-focusing. Conically diverging density ridges were also observed along the channel, indicating a Mach cone created by a shock wave due to the supersonic propagation of the channel front.     

Expeditious preparation of isoxazoles from Δ-isoxazolines as advanced intermediates for functional materials

A collection of isoxazoles derivatives has been efficiently synthesized in three steps. The oximation reaction of aldehydes followed by nitrile oxide [3+2] 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition and MnO₂-oxidation reaction furnished the title compounds which were purified by simple filtration on celite®.

Thermal analysis of the combustion of charcoals from Eucalyptus dunnii obtained at different pyrolysis temperatures

DSC and TG/DTA were used to study charcoals obtained from eucalyptus wood at different pyrolysis temperatures, as well as the exchanged energy, and the transformations involved during the pyrolysis process. Charcoals DSC curves showed two exothermic peaks, at ~610 and ~750 K. The first peak was squashed for those charcoals obtained at higher final pyrolysis temperatures, and it disappeared in the charcoals obtained at 873 and 923 K. The second peak intensity increased and its location changed at the higher temperatures. Charcoal characterization showed a rise of heat values with the pyrolysis temperature.     

Quartz Crystal Microbalance monitoring the real-time binding of lectin with carbohydrate with high and low molecular mass

A Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) was used to monitor the mass changes on a quartz crystal surface containing immobilized lectins that interacted with carbohydrates. The strategy for lectin immobilization was developed on the basis of a multilayer system composed of Au–cystamine–glutaraldehyde–lectin. Each step of the immobilization procedure was confirmed by FTIR analysis. The system was used to study the interactions of Concanavalin A (ConA) with maltose and Jacalin with Fetuin. The real-time binding of different concentrations of carbohydrate to the immobilized lectin was monitored by means of QCM measurements and the data obtained allowed for the construction of Langmuir isotherm curves. The association constants determined for the specific interactions analyzed here were (6.4 ± 0.2) × 10⁴ M^− 1 for Jacalin–Fetuin and (4.5 ± 0.1) × 10² M^− 1 for ConA–maltose. These results indicate that the QCM constitutes a suitable method for the analysis of lectin–carbohydrate interactions, even when assaying low molecular mass ligands such as disaccharides.     

Inverse photoinduced electron transfer in large betaine molecules

We have used ab initio methods to confirm the existence of an inversion in the photoinduced intramolecular electron transfer in large conjugated pyridinium betaines, by examining compounds where an imidazole ring and a pyridinic group are connected by polyenic chains of increasing size. As these intermediary conjugated bridges get longer, an unusual net charge transfer is observed. The conjugated chain becomes a channel for the photoinduced electronic density flow, and the amount of charge at the donor and acceptor groups is reduced, while an inversion in the spatial localization of the frontier orbitals occurs. We discuss the corresponding implications on the nonlinear optical, photochemical and solvatochromic properties of these molecules.     

A contribution to the global formulation of the higher-order Poincaré-Cartan form
