Recently, we demonstrated the possibility to extend the range of capillary electrophoresis (CE) applications to the separation of non-water-soluble synthetic polymers. This work focuses on the control of the electro-osmotic flow (EOF) and on the limitation of the solute adsorption in nonaqueous electrolytes. For these purposes, different strategies were investigated. For the initial, a viscous additive (ethylene glycol or glycerol) was used in the electrolyte in order to decrease the EOF magnitude and, possibly, to compete with solute adsorption. A second strategy was to modify, before separation, the fused-silica capillary wall by the adsorption of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) via hydrogen bonding. The influence of the molecular mass of the adsorbed PEO on the EOF magnitude and direction was studied in electrolytes based on methanol/acetonitrile mixtures containing ammonium ions. For PEO molecular masses above 1000 g/mol, reversed (anodic) EOF were reported in accordance with previous results obtained with PEO covalently bonded capillaries. The influence of the nature and the concentration of the background electrolyte cation on the EOF magnitude and direction were also investigated. A third strategy consisted in modifying the capillary wall by the adsorption of a cationic polyelectrolyte layer. Advantageously, this polyelectrolyte layer suppressed the adsorption of the polymer solutes onto the capillary wall. The results obtained in this work confirm the high potential and the versatility of CE for the characterization of ionizable organic polymers in nonaqueous media. 相似文献

The Huisgen thermal reaction between an organic azide and an acetylene was employed for the selective monofunctionalization of a X6‐azacryptand ligand bearing a tren coordinating unit [X6 stands for calix[6]arene and tren for tris(2‐aminoethyl)amine]. Supramolecular assistance, originating from the formation of a host–guest inclusion complex between the reactants, greatly accelerates the reaction while self‐inhibition affords a remarkable selectivity. The new ligand possesses a single amino‐leg appended at the large rim of the calixarene core and the corresponding Zn2+ complex was characterized both in solution and in the solid state. The coordination of Zn2+ not only involves the tren cap but also the introverted amino‐leg, which locks the metal ion in the cavity. Compared with the parent ligand deprived of the amino‐leg, the affinity of the new monofunctionalized X6tren ligand 6 for Zn2+ is found to have a 10‐fold increase in DMSO, which is a very competitive solvent, and with an enhancement of at least three orders of magnitude in CDCl3/CD3OD (1:1, v/v). In strong contrast with the fast binding kinetics, decoordination of Zn2+ as well as transmetallation appeared to be very slow processes. The monofunctionalized X6tren ligand 6 fully protects the metal ion from the external medium thanks to the combination of a cavity and a closed coordination sphere, leading to greater thermodynamic and kinetic stabilities. 相似文献

Adhesion to host tissue represents a first crucial step in most bacterial infections. Both specific adhesion-ligand as well as hydrophobic interactions may be involved. The adhesion of Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida, Lactococcus garvieae, and Yersinia ruckeri strains to fish tissue cells was assessed. To determine whether the observed bacterial adhesion to fish tissue cells was caused by non-specific interactions, adhesion to bovine serum albumin (BSA) and polystyrene was also tested. Our results demonstrated that non-specific adhesion such as hydrophobic interactions are only partially involved in the binding process since adhesion to BSA was low, and there was no correlation between adhesion to polystyrene and adhesion to fish tissue cells. 相似文献
