Level crossing resonance in ice: Identification of two diamagnetic muon states

Level crossing resonance studies of ice, doped with HF and NH₃ to enhance and suppress the concentration of orientational defects, support the hypothesis that muons can trap at such defects to form complexes of the type H₂O-Mu⁺-OH₂. The doping alters the partition of the total diamagnetic fraction between this state, which is stable against charge migrationvia proton rearrangement at low temperature, and the neutral HMuO state, the isotopically substituted water molecule.     

Modelling high speed flow of a compressible fluid in a saturated porous medium

A modification to the Forchheimer-Brinkman equation, for the modelling of high speed flow of a compressible fluid in a dense saturated porous medium, is proposed. The modified equation is applied to a flow in which choking can occur.     

Reaction between polyesters and phosphorus compounds in the molten state

The reactions occurring between polyesters and phosphorus compounds in the molten state are investigated. A large molecular weight increase is observed in blends of Poly(ethylene terephtalate) and Poly(butylene terephtalate) after triphenyl phosphite addition. The formation of links containing phosphorus atoms between the polyester chain ends has been established. The weakness of this bond makes the observations difficult. An effect of phosphite on promoting the direct esterification between chain ends is suggested but not definitely proved yet.
