Suppose G is a graph and λ1,λ2,…,λn are the eigenvalues of G. The Estrada index EE(G) of G is defined as the sum of eλi, 1in. In this paper some new upper bounds for the Estrada index of bipartite graphs are presented. We apply our result on a (4,6)-fullerene to improve our bound given in an earlier paper.  相似文献

The atom-bond connectivity index is a useful topological index in studying the stability of alkanes and the strain energy of cycloalkanes. In this paper some inequalities for the atom-bond connectivity index of a series of graph operations are presented. We also prove our bounds are tight. The edge Szeged and edge Wiener indices of graphs are new topological indices presented very recently. It is not difficult to apply a modification of the well-known cut method to compute the edge Szeged and edge Wiener indices of hexagonal systems. The unit graph of R, denoted by G(R), has its set of vertices equal to the set of all elements of R; distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if x + y is a unit of R. In this article, the basic properties of G(R) are investigated and some characterization results regarding connectedness, chromatic index, diameter, girth, and planarity of G(R) are given. The effect of an axial flow on the stability of the Taylor–Couette flow is explored for pseudoplastic fluids. The fluid is assumed to follow the Carreau–Bird model and mixed boundary conditions are imposed while the axial flow can be independent of rotational flow. The four-dimensional low-order dynamical system, resulted from Galerkin projection of the conservation of mass and momentum equations, includes additional non-linear terms in the velocity components originated from the shear-dependent viscosity. In absence of axial flow the base flow loses its radial flow stability to the vortex structure at a lower critical Taylor number, as the pseudoplasticity effects increases. The emergence of the vortices corresponds to the onset of a supercritical bifurcation which is also seen in the flow of a linear fluid. However, unlike the Newtonian case, pseudoplastic Taylor vortices lose their stability as the Taylor number reaches a second critical number corresponding to the onset of a Hopf bifurcation. Existence of an axial flow, induced by a pressure gradient appears to further advance each critical point on the bifurcation diagram. Complete flow field together with viscosity maps are given for stability regions in the bifurcation diagram.  相似文献

The diastereoselectivity in the cycloaddition reactions of several mono‐ and disubstituted alkenes with a (‐)norephedrine‐derived methylenenitrone has been investigated. The stereochemical analysis of the addition products (i.e., isoxazolidines) has been carried out by X‐ray, NMR, and chemical conversions. The NMR spectra of the isoxazolidines at low temperatures indicated the presence of either a single or a predominant invertomer. The stereochemistry of the invertomers and nitrogen inversion barriers are determined using complete line‐shape analysis and their dependence on solvent is discussed. The Fibonacci cube \({\Gamma_{n}}\) is obtained from the n-cube Q n by removing all the vertices that contain two consecutive 1s. If, in addition, the vertices that start and end with 1 are removed, the Lucas cube \({\Lambda_{n}}\) is obtained. The number of vertex and edge orbits, the sets of the sizes of the orbits, and the number of orbits of each size, are determined for the Fibonacci cubes and the Lucas cubes under the action of the automorphism group. In particular, the set of vertex orbit sizes of \({\Lambda_{n}}\) is \({\{k \geq 1; k |n\} \cup \{k \geq 18; k |2n\}}\), the number of vertex orbits of \({\Lambda_{n}}\) of size k, where k is odd and divides n, is equal to \({\sum_{d | k} \mu (\frac{k}{d})F_{\lfloor{\frac{d}{2}}\rfloor+2}}\), and the number of edge orbits of \({\Lambda_{n}}\) is equal to the number of vertex orbits of \({\Gamma_{n-3}}\). Dihedral transformations of strings and primitive strings are essential tools to prove these results.  相似文献
