A Compositional Model of Consciousness Based on Consciousness-Only

Scientific studies of consciousness rely on objects whose existence is assumed to be independent of any consciousness. On the contrary, we assume consciousness to be fundamental, and that one of the main features of consciousness is characterized as being other-dependent. We set up a framework which naturally subsumes this feature by defining a compact closed category where morphisms represent conscious processes. These morphisms are a composition of a set of generators, each being specified by their relations with other generators, and therefore co-dependent. The framework is general enough and fits well into a compositional model of consciousness. Interestingly, we also show how our proposal may become a step towards avoiding the hard problem of consciousness, and thereby address the combination problem of conscious experiences.     

Geodesic Connectedness in Generalized Reissner-Nordström Type Lorentz Manifolds

A detailed study of the existence, causal character and multiplicity of geodesics joining two points is carried out for a wide family of non-static Lorentz manifolds (including intermediate Reissner-Nordström, inner Schwarzschild and Generalized Robertson-Walker spacetimes). Results relating causality and connectedness by timelike or lightlike geodesics are obtained, in the spirit of the well-known Avez-Seifert result. The existence of closed spacelike geodesics is also characterized.     

Short range order effects and the Falicov-Kimball model

The model of Falicov and Kimball is investigated incorporating short range order effects. This modifies both the electronic density of states and the configurational entropy, relative to the fully disordered case. The way this affects the conditions under which phase transitions occur is evaluated and discussed.     

Further neo-clerodane diterpenes from Linaria saxatilis (L.) chaz

Ele ven $\text{neo}$-clerodane diterpenoids were isolated from the aerial parts of $\text{Linaria saxatilis}$. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic and chemical methods including the transformation of one of them into the known solidagolactone.     

Singular cosphere bundle reduction

This paper studies singular contact reduction for cosphere bundles at the zero value of the momentum map. A stratification of the singular quotient, finer than the contact one and better adapted to the bundle structure of the problem, is obtained. The strata of this new stratification are a collection of cosphere bundles and coisotropic or Legendrian submanifolds of their corresponding contact components.

Estimates of convergence rates for rescaled eigenvalues of the stiff Neumann problem for the Laplacian are obtained.
