The use of spin-diffusion NMR for the measurement of domain sizes in multiphase materials is becoming increasingly popular, in particular for the study of heterogeneous polymers. Under conditions where T(1) relaxation can be neglected, which is mostly the case at high field, analytical and approximate solutions to the evolution of spin diffusion are available. In order to extend the technique to more general conditions, we performed a comprehensive study of the diffusion of magnetization in a model copolymer at low field, where T(1) tends to be of the same order of magnitude as the typical spin-diffusion time. In order to study the effects of T(1) and to delineate the optimal T(1) values for back correction prior to applying the initial-rate approximation, we developed a numerical simulation based on the diffusion equation and including longitudinal relaxation. We present and discuss the limits of simple correction strategies for initial-slope analysis based on apparent relaxation times from saturation-recovery experiments or the spin-diffusion experiments themselves. Our best strategy faithfully reproduces domain sizes obtained by both TEM investigations and full simultaneous fitting of spin-diffusion and saturation-recovery curves. Full fitting of such independent data sets not only yields correct domain sizes, but also the true longitudinal relaxation times, as well as spin-diffusion coefficients. Effects of interphases with distinct mobility on spin-diffusion curves, as well as practical hints concerning the reliable component decomposition of the detected low-resolution FID signal by help of different magnetization filters are also discussed in detail. 相似文献

We investigate the structural and vibrational properties of glassy B2O3 using first-principles molecular dynamics simulations. In particular, we determine the boroxol rings fraction f for which there is still no consensus in the literature. Two numerical models containing either a low or a high level of boroxol rings are tested against a gamut of experimental probes (static structure factor, Raman, 11B and 17O NMR data). We show that only the boroxol-rich model (f=75%) can reproduce the full set of observables. Total-energy calculations show that at the glass density, boroxol-rich structures are favored by about 6 kcal/(mol boroxol). Finally, the liquid state is explored in the 2,000-4,000 K range and a reduction of f to 10%-20% is obtained. 相似文献

The occurrence of nonadiabatic effects in the vibrational properties of metals has been predicted since the 1960s, but hardly confirmed experimentally. We report the first fully ab initio calculations of nonadiabatic frequencies of a number of conventional (hcp Ti and Mg) and layered metals (MgB2, CaC6, and other intercalated graphites). Nonadiabatic effects can be spectacularly large (up to 30% of the phonon frequencies) in both cases, but they can only be experimentally observed in the Raman spectra of layered compounds. In layered metals nonadiabatic effects are crucial to explaining the observed Raman shifts and linewidths. Chrysotile asbestos is formed by densely packed bundles of multiwall hollow nanotubes. Each wall in the nanotubes is a cylindrically wrapped layer of Mg(3)Si(2)O(5)(OH)(4). We show by experiment and theory that the infrared spectra of chrysotile present multiple ionic-plasmon resonances in the Si-O stretching bands. These collective charge excitations are universal features of the nanotubes that are obtained by cylindrically wrapping an anisotropic material. The multiple plasmons can be observed if the width of the resonances is sufficiently small as in chrysotile. 相似文献

Liquid chromatography/atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry (LC/APCI-ITMS) was applied to evaluate the levels of ginkgolides A and B and bilobalide in plasma of volunteers after administration of Ginkgo biloba extracts in free (Ginkgoselect) or phospholipid complex (Ginkgoselect Phytosome) forms, providing 9.6 mg of total terpene lactones. The maximum plasma concentrations, C(max), of total ginkgolides A, B and bilobalide were 85.0 and 181.8 microg/mL for Ginkgoselect and Ginkgoselect Phytosome, respectively. The C(max) values were reached at 120 min for the free form and at 180--240 min for the phospholipid complex form. In both cases, the mean elimination half-life of each terpene lactone was in the range 120--180 min. Due to its sensitivity (about 1 ng/mL) and specificity, LC/APCI-ITMS proved to be a very powerful tool for pharmacokinetic studies of these phytochemicals. 相似文献

The 13C spin–lattice relaxation times of tropine and pseudotropine have been measured in CDCl3 as a function of concentration. The same relative increase in concentration serves to increase the relaxation rates much less in the region 0.9–5.0 wt.% than in the region 5.0–14.3 wt.%. The rotational diffusion coefficients have been calculated from the relaxation data using Woessner's anisotropic rotational diffusion model. Reorientation of both molecules is shown to be moderately anisotropic. The principal axes of the rotational diffusion tensor in the symmetry plane of both molecules are rotationally shifted from the principal axes of the moment of inertia tensor of the free molecules, and the main rotational axis is parallel with a line passing through the centre of mass of the molecule and the nitrogen atom. 相似文献

We measure phonon dispersion and linewidth in a single crystal of MgB2 along the Gamma-A, Gamma-M, and A-L directions using inelastic x-ray scattering. We use density functional theory to compute the effect of both electron-phonon coupling and anharmonicity on the linewidth, obtaining excellent agreement with experiment. Anomalous broadening of the E(2g) phonon mode is found all along Gamma-A. The dominant contribution to the linewidth is always the electron-phonon coupling. 相似文献

Oligonucleotides have become widely used tools in molecular biology and molecular diagnostics. Their parallel synthesis in large numbers and the increasing interest in microarray technology has raised the requirement for fast and informative analytical tools for their quality control. A direct injection electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) technique based on the use of aqueous 2-propanol as running eluent, and spermidine (or triethylamine) as DNA modifiers, has been applied to analyze a large set of samples (about 200 synthetic oligonucleotides) ranging from 5 to 15 kDa (17-51mers) with good results in terms of sensitivity, suppression of sodium adduct formation, and speed of analysis. Cationic gold nanoparticles offer intriguing opportunities as drug carriers and building blocks for self‐assembled systems. Despite major progress on gold nanoparticle research in general, the synthesis of cationic gold particles larger than 5 nm remains a major challenge, although these species would give a significantly larger plasmonic response compared to smaller cationic gold nanoparticles. Herein we present the first reported synthesis of cationic gold nanoparticles with tunable sizes between 8–20 nm, prepared by a rapid two‐step phase‐transfer protocol starting from simple citrate‐capped particles. These cationic particles form ordered self‐assembled structures with negatively charged biological components through electrostatic interactions. 相似文献

In situ Raman experiments together with transport measurements have been carried out on carbon nanotubes as a function of gate voltage. In metallic tubes, a large increase in the Raman frequency of the G(-) band, accompanied by a substantial decrease of its linewidth, is observed with electron or hole doping. In addition, we see an increase in the Raman frequency of the G(+) band in semiconducting tubes. These results are quantitatively explained using ab initio calculations that take into account effects beyond the adiabatic approximation. Our results imply that Raman spectroscopy can be used as an accurate measure of the doping of both metallic and semiconducting nanotubes. 相似文献
