Cover-Incomparability Graphs of Posets   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
Cover-incomparability graphs (C-I graphs, for short) are introduced, whose edge-set is the union of edge-sets of the incomparability and the cover graph of a poset. Posets whose C-I graphs are chordal (resp. distance-hereditary, Ptolemaic) are characterized in terms of forbidden isometric subposets, and a general approach for studying C-I graphs is proposed. We study the spatial dynamics of noise-induced waves in two-dimensional excitable media in dependence on the duration of the artificially imposed refractory time that is introduced to each constitutive system unit after an excitation. Due to the introduction of refractory times, a randomly induced spatial wave is temporarily unable to transmit information to the opposite site of its propagation direction. Thus, once the wave leaves the absorbing boundaries of the spatial grid the system has little or no recollection, depending on the duration of the refractory time, of its existence. We show that even in the presence of such memory loss, self-organization of excitatory events leads to noise-induced spatial periodicity in the media. We present a simple analytical treatment of a two-unit system to capture and explain the essence of the observed phenomenon. Since refractory times are widespread in biological systems, our results provide interesting insights into functioning of real-life organisms at the cellular as well as tissue level.  相似文献

For the design of light‐metal–sulfur batteries and for the understanding of their performance, knowledge on the stable crystalline polysulfides is very important. We confronted experimental and ab initio crystal structure prediction studies on the stability of Na polysulfides. The selected evolutionary‐based structure‐prediction algorithm was able to quickly and correctly predict the thermodynamically stable crystalline forms of Na polysulfides with small unit cells. For Na polysulfides with large unit cells, the algorithm correctly proposed short unbranched polysulfide chains to be energetically favorite structural motifs, but could not find proper three‐dimensional structures in the limited number of generations. Experimentally, the polysulfides were studied by X‐ray diffraction and 23Na solid‐state NMR spectroscopy. Complemented by calculations of the isotropic chemical shifts and quadrupolar coupling constants, NMR spectroscopy proved to be an excellent tool for the examination of Na polysulfides, because it allowed easy distinction and quantification of components in the samples.  相似文献

This article reports the synthesis of novel, rare-earth coordination complexes with nicotinic acid. Three compounds with the general formula Ln2[(C5H4NCOO)6(H2O)4] (Ln = Yb, 1; Ln = Gd, 2; Ln = Nd, 3) were prepared from relatively cheap and readily available reactants. Their compositions and structure were characterized by IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The magnetic and thermogravimetric properties were also studied. The complexes consist of centrosymetric, dimeric molecules having all six nicotinato ligands coordinated with the central atom in the bidentate mode. The coordination environment of the Ln3+ for all three compounds is 8. Here we describe the crystal structure of Yb and Gd complexes with nicotinic acid.   相似文献

We sketch the view we call contextual semantics. It asserts that truth is semantically correct affirmability under contextually variable semantic standards, that truth is frequently an indirect form of correspondence between thought/language and the world, and that many Quinean commitments are not genuine ontological commitments. We argue that contextualist semantics fits very naturally with the view that the pertinent semantic standards are particularist rather than being systematizable as exceptionless general principles.  相似文献

The problem of reconciling the philosophical denial of ontological vagueness with common-sense beliefs positing vague objects, properties and relations is addressed. This project arises for any view denying ontological vagueness but is especially pressing for transvaluationism, which claims that ontological vagueness is impossible. The idea that truth, for vague discourse and vague thought-content, is an indirect form of language-thought correspondence is invoked and applied. It is pointed out that supervaluationism provides one way, but not necessarily the only way, of implementing the idea of indirect correspondence.  相似文献

The ProBiS algorithm performs a local structural comparison of the query protein surface against the nonredundant database of protein structures. It finds proteins that have binding sites in common with the query protein. Here, we present a new parallelized algorithm, Parallel‐ProBiS, for detecting similar binding sites on clusters of computers. The obtained speedups of the parallel ProBiS scale almost ideally with the number of computing cores up to about 64 computing cores. Scaling is better for larger than for smaller query proteins. For a protein with almost 600 amino acids, the maximum speedup of 180 was achieved on two interconnected clusters with 248 computing cores. We study the phenomenon of stochastic resonance in a system of coupled neurons that are globally excited by a weak periodic input signal. We make the realistic assumption that the chemical and electrical synapses interact in the same neuronal network, hence constituting a hybrid network. By considering a hybrid coupling scheme embedded in the scale-free topology, we show that the electrical synapses are more efficient than chemical synapses in promoting the best correlation between the weak input signal and the response of the system. We also demonstrate that the average degree of neurons within the hybrid scale-free network significantly influences the optimal amount of noise for the occurrence of stochastic resonance, indicating that there also exists an optimal topology for the amplification of the response to the weak input signal. Lastly, we verify that the presented results are robust to variations of the system size.  相似文献
