The bottom-up construction and operation of machines and motors of molecular size is a topic of great interest in nanoscience, and a fascinating challenge of nanotechnology. Researchers in this field are stimulated and inspired by the outstanding progress of molecular biology that has begun to reveal the secrets of the natural nanomachines which constitute the material base of life. Like their macroscopic counterparts, nanoscale machines need energy to operate. Most molecular motors of the biological world are fueled by chemical reactions, but research in the last fifteen years has demonstrated that light energy can be used to power nanomachines by exploiting photochemical processes in appropriately designed artificial systems. As a matter of fact, light excitation exhibits several advantages with regard to the operation of the machine, and can also be used to monitor its state through spectroscopic methods. In this review we will illustrate the design principles at the basis of photochemically driven molecular machines, and we will describe a few examples based on rotaxane-type structures investigated in our laboratories.   相似文献

Benzothiazole is among prominent electron-withdrawing heteroarene moieties used in a variety of π-conjugated molecules. Its relative orientation with respect to the principal dipole vector(s) of chromophores derived thereof is crucial, affecting photophysical and nonlinear optical properties. Here we compare the photophysics and ultrafast dynamics of dipolar and octupolar molecules comprising a triphenylamine electron-donating core, ethynylene π-conjugated linker(s) and benzothiazole acceptor(s) having the matched or mismatched orientation (with respect to the direction of intramolecular charge transfer), while a carbaldehyde group is attached as an auxiliary acceptor. Among chromophores without the auxiliary acceptor, stronger fluorescence solvatochromism and faster excited state dynamics are exhibited for the derivatives with the mismatched geometry. On the contrary, introduction of the auxiliary acceptor to the benzothiazole unit enhances the intramolecular charge transfer ICT (featuring ultrafast dynamics of the excited state) for the matched geometry. The data confirm the crucial role of the relative orientation of asymmetric heteroaromatic unit (regioisomeric effect) in dipolar as well as in multipolar molecules in tuning linear and nonlinear optical properties as well as excited state dynamics.  相似文献

Designing supported alkene metathesis catalysts with high activity and stability is still a challenge, despite significant advances in the last years. Described herein is the combination of strong σ‐donating N‐heterocyclic carbene ligands with weak σ‐donating surface silanolates and cationic tungsten sites leading to highly active and stable alkene metathesis catalysts. These well‐defined silica‐supported catalysts, [(≡SiO)W(=O)(=CHCMe2Ph)(IMes)(OTf)] and [(≡SiO)W(=O)(=CHCMe2Ph)(IMes)+][B(ArF)4?] [IMes=1,3‐bis(2,4,6‐trimethylphenyl)‐imidazol‐2‐ylidene, B(ArF)4=B(3,5‐(CF3)2C6H3)4] catalyze alkene metathesis, and the cationic species display unprecedented activity for a broad range of substrates, especially for terminal olefins with turnover numbers above 1.2 million for propene.  相似文献

Two new 5-alkylpyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde derivatives,mycalenitrile-15(1) and mycalenitrile-16(2),along with five known related ones(3-7),were isolated from the South China Sea sponge Mycale lissochela.The structures of the new compounds were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis and by comparison of their NMR data with those reported in the literature.In bioassay,compounds 1 and 7 exhibited significant PTPIB(Protein-tyrosine phosphatase 1B,a recognized target for diabetes and obesity) inhibitory activities with IC_(50) values of 8.6 and 3.1 μmoI/L,respectively.A preliminary SAR analysis of the isolated compounds with their PTP1 B inhibitory effects was described.  相似文献

The properties as well as solid-state structures, singlet fission, and organic field-effect transistor (OFET) performance of three tetrafluoropentacenes (1,4,8,11: 10 , 1,4,9,10: 11 , 2,3,9,10: 12 ) are compared herein. The novel compounds 10 and 11 were synthesized in high purity from the corresponding 6,13-etheno-bridged precursors by reaction with dimethyl 1,2,4,5-tetrazine-3,6-dicarboxylate at elevated temperatures. Although most of the molecular properties of the compounds are similar, their chemical reactivity and crystal structures differ considerably. Isomer 10 undergoes the orbital symmetry forbidden thermal [4+4] dimerization, whereas 11 and 12 are much less reactive. The isomers 11 and 12 crystallize in a herringbone motif, but 10 prefers π–π stacking. Although the energy of the first electric dipole-allowed optical transition varies only within 370 cm−1 (0.05 eV) for the neutral compounds, this amounts to roughly 1600 cm−1 (0.20 eV) for radical cations and 1300 cm−1 (0.16 eV) for dications. Transient spectroscopy of films of 11 and 12 reveals singlet-fission time constants (91±11, 73±3 fs, respectively) that are shorter than for pentacene (112±9 fs). OFET devices constructed from 11 and 12 show close to ideal thin-film transistor (TFT) characteristics with electron mobilities of 2×10−3 and 6×10−2 cm2 V−1 s−1, respectively.  相似文献

Fragments of pectic polysaccharides rhamnogalacturonan-II (RG-II) and apiogalacturonan were synthesised using p-tolylthio apiofuranoside derivatives as key building blocks. Apiofuranose thioglycosides can be conveniently prepared by cyclization of the corresponding dithioacetals possessing a 2,3-O-isopropylidene group, which is required for preservation of the correct (3R) configuration of the apiofuranose ring. The remarkable stability of this protecting group in apiofuranose derivatives requires its replacement with a more reactive protecting group, such as a benzylidene acetal which was used in the synthesis of trisaccharide β-Rhap-(1→3')-β-Apif-(1→2)-α-GalAp-OMe. The X-ray crystal structure of the protected precursor of this trisaccharide has been elucidated.  相似文献

o-Benzenedisulfonimide (OBS) has efficiently catalysed the one-pot three-component reaction of ketones and aromatic amines with trimethylsilyl cyanide (TMSCN) giving the corresponding α-amino nitriles in excellent yields (23 examples; average yield 85%). Reaction conditions were very simple, green and efficient. Theoretical calculations have allowed us to explain the mechanism of this reaction which has been found to take place in two phases; the first consists of the nucleophilic addition of the aniline to the ketone and the subsequent dehydration to an imine; the second one consists of the formal addition of cyanide anion to the protonated imine. OBS acts in all steps of this mechanism. Without an acid catalyst, the reaction mechanism is more simple but barriers are sensibly higher. A chiral derivative of OBS was also used and gave fairly good results.  相似文献

We consider a two-dimensional lattice model for liquid crystals consisting of long rods interacting via purely hard core interactions, with two allowed orientations defined by the underlying lattice. We rigorously prove the existence of a nematic phase, i.e., we show that at intermediate densities the system exhibits orientational order, either horizontal or vertical, but no positional order. The proof is based on a two-scales cluster expansion: we first coarse grain the system on a scale comparable with the rods’ length; then we express the resulting effective theory as a contour’s model, which can be treated by Pirogov-Sinai methods.  相似文献
