A mitochondria-targeted fluorescent probe for ratiometric detection of hypochlorite in living cells

A new fl uorescent probe 1 was designed for mitochondrial localization and ratiometric detection of hypochlorite in living cells. It is noteworthy that a high Pearson’s co-localization coeffi cient (Rr) we have obtained was calculated to be 0.97.     

A mathematical definition of molecular structure – open problem

A conjecture is proposed whose interest lies in the fact that, if false, it tells us what a molecule is not, if true, it is the basis for a rigorous definition of molecular structure in quantum mechanics. Synthesis and in vitro biological evaluation of farnesylthiosalicylic acid derivatives as anti-tumor carcinoma agents

Novel farnesylthiosahcylic acid(FTA) derivatives 5a-m with different substituted 1,3,4-thiadiazoles were synthesized. Compounds 5b,5c,5e and 5f displayed anti-tumor activities superior to FTA in most cancer cells tested.Furthermore,5e induced tumor cell apoptosis,which was accompanied by lower Bcl-2 expression,but with higher Bax and caspase 3 expression activities in cancer cells.     

Yb（OTf）3-catalyzed synthesis of pyrroles under solvent-free conditions

A Yb(OTf)_3-catalyzed approach for the synthesis of pyrroles under solvent-free conditions was achieved,which could afford the desired products with yields ranged from moderate to excellent.     

A new coumarin from Wikstroemia indica （L.） C. A. Mey

A new coumadn was obtained from the stems and roots of Wikstroemia indica (L.) C.A.Mey.Its structure was elucidated as methyl 3-(2-hydroxy-4-(7-hydroxy-6-methoxy-2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yloxy) phenyl) propanoate by spectroscopic methods.     

Synthesis,spectroscopic properties and applications of novel N-heterocycle-containing benzotriazoles as UV absorbers

Two novel iV-heterocycle-containing benzotriazole compounds,5-(5-chloro-2-benzotriazolyl)-6-hydroxy-l,4-dimethyl-3-car-bonitrile -2-pyridone(2) and 4-(5-chloro-2-benzotriazoIyl)-5-methyl-2-phenyl-3-pyrazolone(4),were synthesized from reactant 4- chloro-2-nitroaniline via diazotization,azo coupling,reductive cyclization and acidification.Their structures were confirmed by FT-IR,~1H NMR,mass spectroscopy and elemental analysis.Their spectral properties were investigated and compared with that of a common commercial benzotriazole UV absorber Tinuvin 326.It is found that the novel Af-heterocycle-containing benzotriazole compounds exhibit sharp single peak in the range of 280-400 nm and have much higher molar extinction coefficients than that of Tinuvin 326.Their anti-UV protection properties on polyester fabric were also evaluated and compound 4 was much superior to compound 2 due to its higher exhaustion.     

Radical cation salts induced domino reaction of anilines with enol ethers:Synthesis of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline derivatives

A domino reaction of anilines with cyclic and acyclic enol ethers induced by catalytic amounts of TBPA^·+（5 mol%） was investigated and a series of 2,4-disubstituted-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines were synthesized.Different from cyclic enol ethers, when acyclic enol ethers were used in the reaction,they serve as surrogates of acetaldehyde,producing a series of 2-methyl-4- anilino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines.A single electron transfer mechanism was proposed to rationalize the products formation.     

Secondary metabolites from fungus Alternaria sp. CIB 108

A new compound,3-butyryl-6-[rel-(1S,2S)-1,2-dihydroxypropyl]-4-hydroxy-2H-pyran-2-one(1),was isolated from the solid fermented rice culture of Alternaria sp.CIB 108,along with three known ones,deoxyradicinin(2),3-epiradicinol(3),and 3- epideoxyradicinol(4).Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data.The single crystal X-ray diffraction was applied to further clarify the structure of 1.Furthermore,compounds 1-4 possessed no cytotoxicity against several cell lines(HeLa, HepG2,and Ros) and showed no antibacterial activity at 40μmol/L.
