A new flavonoid glycoside from Vaccaria hispanica

A profiling analysis for the methanol extract of the seeds of Vaccaria hispanica (Mill.) Rauschert was performed using a HPLC-ESI-MS technique. Five compounds were identified according to their retention times, UV spectroscopic and MS features, and by comparison with literature data. Among them, a new flavonoid glycoside, named vaccarin H, was isolated and the structure determined by spectral and chemical analysis as isovitexin 2"-O-alpha-L-arabinopyranosyl-4'-O-(6"-O-dihydroferuloyl)-3-beta-glucopyranoside.     

The Amomum tsao-ko Essential Oils Inhibited Inflammation and Apoptosis through p38/JNK MAPK Signaling Pathway and Alleviated Gentamicin-Induced Acute Kidney Injury

The clinical application of gentamicin may lead to acute kidney injury (AKI), and the nephrotoxicity of gentamicin is related to the pathological mechanism of several oxidative and inflammatory cytokines. Plant-derived essential oils have good anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This study aimed to clarify the protective effect of Amomum tsao-ko essential oils (AOs) on gentamicin-induced AKI in rats and its possible mechanism. The rat AKI model was induced by intraperitoneal injection of gentamicin. After 14 days of oral AO treatment, the renal function and pathological changes of the kidney tissues were evaluated, and the level of kidney tissue oxidative stress was detected. The content of inflammatory cytokines was measured by ELISA. The expression of ERK1/2, JNK1/2, p38, NF-κB, caspase-3, and Bax/Bcl-2 proteins were estimated by Western blot analysis. The results showed that taking AO reduced the contents of serum urea and creatinine in AKI rats and improve the pathological changes and oxidative stress of the kidney tissue in rats. At the same time, AO reduced inflammation and apoptosis during AKI by regulating the MAPK pathway. The data show that AO has a protective effect on the kidneys and may be a potential drug for treating kidney injury.     

Functionalized Ultrasmall Iron Oxide Nanoparticles for T1-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Tumor Hypoxia

Hypoxia is a common biological condition in many malignant solid tumors that plays an imperative role in regulating tumor growth and impacting the treatment’s therapeutic effect. Therefore, the hypoxia assessment is of great significance in predicting tumor development and evaluating its prognosis. Among the plenty of existing tumor diagnosis techniques, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) offers certain distinctive features, such as being free of ionizing radiation and providing images with a high spatial resolution. In this study, we develop a fluorescent traceable and hypoxia-sensitive T₁-weighted MRI probe (Fe₃O₄-Met-Cy5.5) via conjugating notable hypoxia-sensitive metronidazole moiety and Cy5.5 dye with ultrasmall iron oxide (Fe₃O₄) nanoparticles. The results of in vitro and in vivo experiments show that Fe₃O₄-Met-Cy5.5 has excellent performance in relaxivity, biocompatibility, and hypoxia specificity. More importantly, the obvious signal enhancement in hypoxic areas indicates that the probe has great feasibility for sensing tumor hypoxia via T₁-weighted MRI. These promising results may unlock the potential of Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles as T₁-weighted contrast agents for the development of clinical hypoxia probes.

针对冷库运行过程中出现的压缩机排气温度高、系统性能衰减等问题,设计并搭建了基于平行流换热器的低压补气冷藏系统实验台对冷藏系统在低压补气和不补气状态下压缩机转速对冷藏系统综合性能的影响进行了分析.结果 表明:随着压缩机转速的增加,两种工况下压缩机排气温度都会增加,在补气模式下排气温度增加了5％,在不补气模式下增加了7.8...     

A SMOOTH C1 INTERPOLATION FOR TWO-DIMENSIONAL CONTACT PROBLEMS USING PARAMETRIC CURVE TECHNIQUE

A smooth C1 interpolation for two-dimensional contact problems using paxametric curve technique was developed and implemented. The parametric curve can ensure C1 continuity of the contact surfaces and provide a unique surface normal vector. Some numerical examples were used to illustrate the advantages of the newly developed representation of contact surface. The results reveal a significant improvement in the prediction of contact stresses and contactarea. The predicted contact stresses are less sensitive to the mismatch in meshes of the different contacting bodies.     

High-power harmonic gyro-TWT's. II. Nonlinear theory and design

For pt.I, see ibid., vol.20, no.3, p.155-162 (1992). Based on an analytical study of the stability problems of gyrotron traveling wave amplifiers (gyro-TWTs), an extremely high power second-harmonic gyro-TWT has been designed, evaluated and optimized with a self-consistent nonlinear numerical simulation code. The design, which is based on the magnetron-injection-gun (MIG)-type beam, is presented. Using a 100 kV, 25 A MIG beam with α=1 and an axial velocity spread of 5%, nonlinear self-consistent analysis of a three-stage second-harmonic gyro-TWT amplifier predicts a peak output power of 533 kW, peak efficiency of 21.3% and a 7.4% saturated bandwidth, which verifies the theoretical predictions that a stable harmonic gyro-TWT can generate power levels an order of magnitude higher than those possible from a fundamental gyro-TWT. It is shown that the positioning of the electron beam is very important. A multistage structure is used to recover the loss in gain resulting from shortening the interaction sections to ensure stability     

Facile formation of water-insoluble cyclodextrin/Nafion composite films on solid surfaces

The water-insoluble poly-beta-cyclodextrin (poly-CD)/Nafion composite film was easily prepared by casting a mixed solution of poly-CD and Nafion onto substrate plates. FT-IR measurements showed that the 50/50 wt% poly-CD/Nafion composite film remained stable on the glass and quartz substrates after immersion in water for more than 3 h, while a pure poly-CD film was almost completely dissolved by immersion within 1 h. The film stability was also evaluated from the amount of p-nitrophenol (p-NP) inclusion in the film, which was determined from the decrease in UV-vis absorbance of the p-NP solution into which the film was immersed. The composition dependence of the inclusion amount showed that the film was stable up to 50 wt% CD, but became less stable with further increase in the CD concentration in the film. From the isotherms for the inclusion of p-NP and 1-naphthoate (1-Naph) into the film, the inclusion (stability) constants were determined to be 3.7x10(3) M(-1) and 1.9x10(2) M(-1), respectively. These results show that the selective inclusion of CD is retained after preparation of the composite film.     

Internal magnetic fields in submicron particles of barium hexaferrite detected by 57Fe NMR

⁵⁷Fe nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of hexaferrite BaFe₁₂O₁₉ powder samples prepared by glass crystallization method were measured at 4.2 K and analyzed in comparison to spectra of single crystals. Samples with various mean particle dimensions were tested. NMR spectral lines corresponding to individual iron sublattices showed pronounced frequency shifts of their positions and a significant line broadening compared to single crystals. The significant contribution to the line shifts and line shape had a uniform macroscopic origin giving identical absolute value of shifts and the same line shapes for all measured lines of a particular sample. Estimations of demagnetization fields based on mean particle dimensions reasonably corresponded to the observed frequency shifts for particle mean diameter 67 nm, or had a higher value for a sample with mean diameter of 340 nm, for which a presence of domain walls was detected by NMR. In the spectrum of a sample with the smallest particles (～16 nm), an additional contribution having broader lines and faster spin-spin relaxations was found. It could be assigned to weaker exchange interactions or deviations of magnetic moment directions from the hexagonal axis in a surface layer.     

Hardy–Carleson Measures and Their Dual Poisson–Szegö Transforms

Recently Choe et al. have introduced the notion of dual Berezin transforms and used it to obtain new characterizations of the Carleson measures for the weighted Bergman spaces over the unit ball in C ⁿ . Continuing our investigation on the Hardy spaces, we obtain new characterizations of the Carleson measures for the Hardy spaces by means of the dual Poisson–Szegö transforms introduced by Koosis. Compared with the results for the weighted Bergman spaces, our results for the Hardy spaces not only show an similarity, but also reveal a new characterization.
