In this Letter, we present an efficient complex-envelope alternating-direction-implicit finite-difference time-domain (CE-ADI-FDTD) method for the transient analysis of magnetic photonic crystals with lossy ferrites. The proposed CE-ADI-FDTD method is generally formulated for a saturated ferrite with anisotropic permittivity tensor and ferrite loss. Auxiliary differential equations for modeling saturated ferrite and Maxwell's curl equations are first cast into a first-order differential system in a CE form. Then, by using an efficient ADI splitting formulas, the proposed CE-ADI-FDTD method is attained in a very concise form with few and simple right-hand side terms. The performance of the proposed method is validated and compared with the explicit FDTD method.  相似文献

A pH and mechano-responsive coordination polymeric gel was developed without the use of long chain hydrophobic groups. The hydrogel was synthesised by reacting the aqueous solution of Mg2+ with the basic aqueous solution of N-(7-hydroxyl-4-methyl-8-coumarinyl)-alanine. The gelation is attributed to the self-aggregation of 1D coordination polymers to form 3D nanostructures through non-covalent interactions to entrap water molecules. The freeze-dried hydrogel exhibits a fibrillar network structure with a uniform ribbon shape. UV/vis absorption studies illustrate that the hydrogel displays a typical pi-pi* transition. The fluorescence intensity of the hydrogel is enhanced drastically with a longer lifetime upon gel formation. Mechanical analysis including dynamic oscillation on shear, steady shear and creep (retardation-relaxation) testing have been performed to elucidate the supramolecular nature of the 3D assembly. Together with the viscoelastic properties and biocompatibility, the Mg2+ hydrogel may find utility as a novel soft material in biomedical applications.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a three-term conjugate gradient method via the symmetric rank-one update. The basic idea is to exploit the good properties of the SR1 update in providing quality Hessian approximations to construct a conjugate gradient line search direction without the storage of matrices and possess the sufficient descent property. Numerical experiments on a set of standard unconstrained optimization problems showed that the proposed method is superior to many well-known conjugate gradient methods in terms of efficiency and robustness.  相似文献

Newly synthesized proteins constitute an important subset of the proteome involved in every cellular process, yet existing chemical tools used to study them have major shortcomings. Herein we report a suite of cell‐permeable puromycin analogues capable of being metabolically incorporated into newly synthesized proteins in different mammalian cells, including neuronal cells. Subsequent labeling with suitable bioorthogonal reporters, in both fixed and live cells, enabled direct imaging and enrichment of these proteins. By taking advantage of the mutually orthogonal reactivity of these analogues, we showed multiplexed labeling of different protein populations, as well as quantitative measurements of protein dynamics by fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, could be achieved in live‐cell environments.  相似文献

The effect of butyl acrylate (BA), divinyl benzene (DVB) and vinyltrimethoxysilane (TMVS) on the thermal properties of poly(methyl methacrylate-co-butyl acrylate-co-acrylic acid) was investigated. Glass transition temperature (Tg), melting temperature (Tm) and specific heat capacity of the copolymers were investigated using Differential Scanning Calorimetry. Thermal stability of the copolymers which is associated with the degradation temperature (Td) was studied by Thermogravimetric Analysis. Polyacrylates with Tg ranges between -19°Cand 19°C were obtained. With the incorporation of >7 wt% of DVB, the Tg of the copolymer increases from about ?17°C to ?10°C even though they have not undergone UV irradiation. Gel content results prove that crosslinking has occurred in the copolymers. With increasing amount of TMVS from 0 wt% to 7 wt%, the Tm of the copolymers prepared at acidic pH is about 40-60°C higher than that at the alkaline pH. However, the addition of TMVS gives no significant effect to the Tg and Td of the copolymer films. The thermal stability of the copolymer has improved with increasing amount of BA and DVB, with DVB being more effective. The highest Td of 425°C with 8% of DVB has been obtained. Consequently, a polyacrylate copolymer with a Tg of about ?13°C, a Tm of 170 °C and a Td of about 424°C has been successfully synthesized. Hence, the soft polyacrylate with its relatively high Tm and Td could serve as a superb material especially to be applied in the areas that require high melting temperature and good thermal stability.  相似文献

Abstract

Mechanical and electronic properties of s-triazine sheet are studied using first-principles calculations based on density functional theory. The in-plane stiffness and bulk modulus for s-triazine sheet are found to be less than that of heptazine. The reduction can be related to the nature of the covalent bonds connecting the adjacent sheets and the number of atoms per unit cell. The Poisson’s ratio of s-triazine sheet is half the value to that of graphene. Additionally, the calculated values of the two critical strains (elastic and yielding points) of s-triazine sheet are in the same order of magnitude to that for heptazine which was calculated using MD simulations in the literature. It is also demonstrated that s-triazine sheet can withstand larger tension in the plastic region. These results established a stable mechanical property for s-triazine sheet. We found a linear relationship of bandgap as a function of bi-axial tensile strain within the harmonic elastic region. The reduced steric repulsion of the lone pairs (px-, py-) causes the pz-like orbital to shift to high energy, and consequently an increase in the bandgap. We find no electronic properties modulation of the s-triazine sheet under electric field up to a peak value of 10 V/nm. Such noble properties may be useful in future nanomaterial applications.  相似文献

We show that the fluctuations of a variety of animal (insect, mammal and fish) populations are well-modeled by stable (Lévy) distributions, a family of distributions which includes the Gaussian. Our findings together with the finding [A.P. Allen, B.-L. Li, E.L. Charnov, Ecol. Lett. 4 (2001) 1-3] that bird population fluctuations are well-modeled by Gaussian distributions suggest the hypothesis that, in general, animal population fluctuations are well-modeled by stable distributions. If the hypothesis is confirmed, the stable law for the distribution of animal population fluctuations would be useful for animal population modeling, prediction and management.  相似文献

Human beta defensins (hBDs) are an important class of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), which provide the host with innate protection from bacteria, fungi and viruses. Human β-defensin-25 (hBD25) is a new hBD variant which has been recently discovered in the male genital tract. Since its discovery, hBD25 was hypothesized to play a key role in protection against genital tract infection, which has significantly increased mortality rates in the last decade. However, further studies to confirm the role of hBD25 are hindered by the lack of sufficient amounts of pure hBD25 for clinical studies. This study reports the first successful development of an efficient and low cost chromatography-oriented bioprocess for production of hBD25. hBD25 was expressed predominantly as soluble aggregates although the peptide was co-expressed with a Maltose Binding Protein (MBP) fusion tag in E. coli. The soluble aggregates were disrupted by denaturation-reduction of the hBD25, followed by an in vitro size exclusion chromatography refolding step which readily yielded bioactive and purified hBD25 peptides at 90% purity. The refolded hBD25 showed antimicrobial activity against E. coli K12 at a minimal inhibitory concentration of 60 μg/mL. With an overall hBD25 bioprocess yield of 48% obtained, this bioprocess will open the way for detailed clinical studies of hBD25, and serve as a generic platform for efficient recovery of other 'fusion protein'-derived peptides that inevitably exist as soluble aggregates.  相似文献

A novel method using sample preparation method, "ultrasound-assisted emulsification microextraction" (USAEME) with manual shaking, coupled with gas chromatography using and an electron capture detector (GC-ECD) was developed for the analysis of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in aqueous samples. The apparatus is simple and easy to operate. After manual shaking for 10s, ultrasound was used to accelerate emulsification of the organic solvent (1-decanol) in aqueous solution. Only 10 μL of the low-toxicity extraction solvent is used in this method; no dispersive solvent is required and the total extraction time is ~4 min. Manual shaking before ultrasound-assisted emulsification enhances the extraction efficiency by >100%. The effects of horizontal and vertical orientation as well as the location of the sample within the ultrasonic bath were studied. After centrifugation, we used an improved solvent collection system (ISCS) to reduce the amount of extraction solvent required. A 1 μL sample of the extract was injected into the GC column. Under optimum conditions, the linear range of the method is 5-2500 ngL(-1) for most of the OCPs, and the limit of detection of the method ranged from 0.6 to 2.9 ngL(-1).The relative recoveries ranged from 75 to 107% for sea water and from 70 to 99% for field fresh water. The method, which provides good enrichment factors, low LODs and minimization of the consumption of organic solvent, provides a rapid, simple and environment-friendly procedure for determining OCPs in aqueous samples.  相似文献
