Sedimentation and diffusion are important aspects of the behavior of colloidal nanoparticles in solution, and merit attention during the synthesis, characterization, and application of nanoparticles. Here, the sedimentation of nanoparticles is studied quantitatively using digital photography and a simple model based on the Mason–Weaver equation. Good agreement between experimental time‐lapse photography and numerical solutions of the model is found for a series of gold nanoparticles. The new method is extended to study for the first time the gravitational sedimentation of DNA‐linked gold nanoparticle dimers as a model system of a higher complexity structure. Additionally, simple formulas are derived for estimating suitable parameters for the preparative centrifugation of nanoparticle solutions.  相似文献

A new series of compounds was prepared from 6-methoxyquinolin-8-amine or its N-(2-aminoethyl) analogue via Ugi-azide reaction. Their linkers between the quinoline and the tert-butyltetrazole moieties differ in chain length, basicity and substitution. Compounds were tested for their antiplasmodial activity against Plasmodium falciparum NF54 as well as their cytotoxicity against L-6-cells. The activity and the cytotoxicity were strongly influenced by the linker and its substitution. The most active compounds showed good activity and promising selectivity.  相似文献

Strong light-induced absorption has been observed in lithium niobate crystals doped with magnesium after application of femtosecond illumination. In this material there are no Nb-on-Li-site defects and hence no antisite polarons occur, but small free polarons close to the conduction band can be generated. The light-induced absorption observed is attributed to these polarons. For LiNbO3:Mg, their decay times are about two orders of magnitude smaller than those of the Nb-on-Li-site polarons in undoped material. The results are relevant for a better understanding of the suppression of the so-called optical damage in these crystals and for their use in femtosecond applications.  相似文献

Complex polymer–metal nanocomposites have a wide range of applications, e.g. as flexible displays and packaging materials. Pulsed laser deposition was applied to form nanostructured materials consisting of metal clusters (Ag, Au, Pd and Cu) embedded in a polymer (polycarbonate, PC) matrix. The size and amount of the metal clusters are controlled by the number of laser pulses hitting the respective targets. For Cu and Pd, smaller clusters and higher cluster densities are obtained as in the cases of Ag and Au due to a stronger reactivity with the polymers and thus a lower diffusivity. Implantation effects, differences in metal diffusivity and reactivity on the polymer surfaces, and the coalescence properties are discussed with respect to the observed microstructures on PC and compared to the metal growth on poly (methyl methacrylate), PMMA.  相似文献

Engineering low‐band‐gap π‐conjugated polymers is a growing area in basic and applied research. The main synthetic challenge lies in the solubility of the starting materials, which precludes advancements in the field. Here, we report an on‐surface synthesis protocol to overcome such difficulties and produce poly(p‐anthracene ethynylene) molecular wires on Au(111). To this aim, a quinoid anthracene precursor with =CBr2 moieties is deposited and annealed to 400 K, resulting in anthracene‐based polymers. High‐resolution nc‐AFM measurements confirm the nature of the ethynylene‐bridge bond between the anthracene moieties. Theoretical simulations illustrate the mechanism of the chemical reaction, highlighting three major steps: dehalogenation, diffusion of surface‐stabilized carbenes, and homocoupling, which enables the formation of an ethynylene bridge. Our results introduce a novel chemical protocol to design π‐conjugated polymers based on oligoacene precursors and pave new avenues for advancing the emerging field of on‐surface synthesis.  相似文献
