This work presents the synthesis of polyphosphazenes bearing L ‐proline methyl ester (ProOMe) and 4‐hydroxy‐l ‐proline methyl ester (HypOMe), aiming for new bioactive polymers for bone repair. The polymers were characterized by 1H and 31P NMR, FTIR, DSC, and TGA. Electrospun fibers were prepared using poly[bis(l ‐proline methyl ester)phosphazene] (PProP), and their potential for biomimetic mineralization, as well as the bulk material, were tested in simulated body fluid (1×SBF). Samples were analyzed between 24 h and 3 weeks of incubation using SEM/EDS and FTIR. After 24 h, spherical and flower‐like shapes of calcium phosphates (CaP) were crystallized on the bulk samples. The nanofibers presented spherical CaP crystals attached to them after 48 h of incubation. The Ca/P molar ratio of the crystals varied from 1.5 to 1.6. According to this study, PProP presents bioactivity in vitro, and its fibers offer sites for CaP nucleation like the collagen fibers in bone. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Exposure of the skin to UV radiation induces local inflammation. We hypothesized that inflammation induced by erythemal UV-B irradiation could elevate levels of serum C-reactive protein (CRP) and that suberythemal repeating doses of solar-simulating UV radiation (SSR) would produce photoadaptation to such inflammation. Separation-free high-sensitivity assays of CRP show an increase by 42% (P = 0.046) in CRP concentrations in healthy human subjects 24 h after a 3 minimal erythemal dose (MED) dose of UV-B delivered onto a 100 cm2 skin area. Preceding daily suberythemal doses of whole-body SSR for 10 or 30 consecutive days completely prevented the CRP increase. UV-B-induced skin erythema was partially attenuated by 30 preceding days of SSR only (P = 0.00066). After 10 daily SSR doses, the mean baseline CRP concentrations (0.24 +/- 0.21 mg/L) declined by 35% (P = 0.018). Using high-sensitivity analysis of serum CRP as the endpoint marker for cutaneous inflammation, we show that acute exposure of even a relatively small skin area to erythemal UV-B induces skin inflammation detectable also at the systemic level and that photoadaptation by preceding repeating suberythemal doses of SSR reduces signs of inflammation. Our data complement the view given by previous studies in that local photoadaptation also has systemic manifestations.  相似文献

Correct net charge and protonation pattern in the polyamine backbone is one of the major factors that define the interactions of this class of compounds. 1,12‐diamino‐3,6,9‐triazadodecane (SpmTrien) is a isosteric charge deficient analogue of naturally occurring spermine (Spm) with different biological features. The tautomeric populations of each SpmTrien charge state were estimated with computer simulations, molecular dynamics (MD) and quantum mechanical calculations, and cluster expansions separately. In the computer simulations, tautomeric populations of each charge state were obtained by constrained least‐squares fitting the theoretically calculated (GIAO B3LYP/6‐311 + G**) 15 N NMR chemical shieldings of SpmTrien tautomers to the experimentally measured chemical shifts. Theoretical chemical shieldings were calculated for water complexes of SpmTrien obtained from MD simulations in explicit water. Both methods gave highly similar realistic results. SpmTrien has many major populations of tautomers at biologically relevant charge states of three (+3) and four (+4) thus enabling a large variety of structures for specific ionic interactions. Glass‐embedded silver nanoparticle patterns were fabricated by masked silver–sodium ion‐exchange process followed by etching to reveal the particles for surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). The intensity of the enhanced Raman signal is comparable to that of the fluorescence, and the detection limit of 1 nM for Rhodamine 6G has been achieved. Raman images at different etching depths and corresponding morphological images are compared to find optimal SERS signal. Our results demonstrate that silver nanoparticle patterns embedded in glass can be used as SERS‐active substrates. Nanoparticles can be formed in a glass of high optical quality and have potential to be integrated with optical waveguides for a sensor chip. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Complex linear differential equations of the form

It is shown, for example, that if the coefficient of belongs to the weighted Bergman space , where , for all , then all solutions are of order of growth at most , measured according to the Nevanlinna characteristic. In the case when all solutions are shown to be not only of order of growth zero, but of bounded characteristic. Conversely, if all solutions are of order of growth at most , then the coefficient is shown to belong to for all and .

Analogous results, when the coefficients belong to certain weighted Hardy spaces, are obtained. The non-homogeneous equation associated to is also briefly discussed.

Freehand 3D ultrasound is increasingly being introduced in the clinic for diagnostics and image-assisted interventions. Various algorithms exist for combining 2D images of regular ultrasound probes to 3D volumes, being either voxel-, pixel- or function-based. Previously, the most commonly used input to 3D ultrasound reconstruction has been digitized analog video. However, recent scanners that offer access to digital image frames exist, either as processed or unprocessed data. To our knowledge, no comparison has been performed to determine which data source gives the best reconstruction quality. In the present study we compared both reconstruction algorithms and data sources using novel comparison methods for detecting potential differences in image quality of the reconstructed volumes. The ultrasound scanner used in this study was the Sonix RP from Ultrasonix Medical Corp (Richmond, Canada), a scanner that allow third party access to unprocessed and processed digital data. The ultrasound probe used was the L14-5/38 linear probe. The assessment is based on a number of image criteria: detectability of wire targets, spatial resolution, detectability of small barely visible structures, subjective tissue image quality, and volume geometry. In addition we have also performed the more “traditional” comparison of reconstructed volumes by removing a percentage of the input data. By using these evaluation methods and data from the specific scanner, the results showed that the processed video performed better than the digital scan-line data, digital video being better than analog video. Furthermore, the results showed that the choice of video source was more important than the choice of tested reconstruction algorithms.  相似文献

A series of 7‐(2‐oxoalkoxy)coumarins have been synthesized by conjugating substituted 7‐hydroxycoumarins with different chloroketones. The anti‐inflammatory properties of 7‐(2‐oxoalkoxy)coumarins were studied in LPS‐induced inflammatory response in J774 macrophages. Western blot was used to determine the expression of iNOS and COX‐2, NO was determined by measuring its metabolite nitrite by Griess reaction and IL‐6 was measured by ELISA. Seventeen of the studied compounds inhibited NO and IL‐6 production over 50% at 100 μM concentrations. IC50 values of the best inhibitors were 21 μM/24 μM (NO/IL‐6) for compound 12 and 30 μM/10 μM (NO/IL‐6) for compound 20 . The main result was that the substitution with 7‐(2‐oxoalkoxy) group improved the anti‐inflammatory properties of most of the investigated 7‐hydroxycoumarins.  相似文献
