The structure of a four monolayer deposit of Pd on Ni(110) has been determined by a combination of x-ray diffraction experiments and density-functional theory calculations. This Pd film presents, after annealing at 500 K, a (Nx2) reconstruction associated with a large enhancement of its catalytic activity. The N superstructure, along the dense [11;0] direction, comes from periodic edge dislocations initiated by a vacancy in the first Pd layer. In the perpendicular direction, the doubling of the period originates in a pairing-buckling displacement of the rows. This study evidences a new Pd atoms arrangement with quasi-four-fold hollow sites on the surface, which could play an important role in the exceptional catalytic activity.  相似文献

Measurements in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV of jet correlations for a trigger hadron at intermediate transverse momentum (p_{T,trig}) with associated mesons or baryons at lower p_{T,assoc} indicate strong modification of the away-side jet. The ratio of jet-associated baryons to mesons increases with centrality and p_{T,assoc}. For the most central collisions, the ratio is similar to that for inclusive measurements. This trend is incompatible with in-vacuum fragmentation but could be due to jetlike contributions from correlated soft partons, which recombine upon hadronization.  相似文献

We have investigated the chemical distributions and the local electronic structure of potential diluted magnetic semiconductor Ge0.94Mn0.06 single crystals using scanning photoelectron microscopy (SPEM), x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), and photoemission spectroscopy (PES). The SPEM image shows the stripe-shaped microstructures, which arise from the chemical phase separation between the Mn-rich and Mn-depleted phases. The Mn 2p XAS shows that the Mn ions in the Mn-rich region are in the divalent high-spin Mn2+ states but that they do not form metallic Mn clusters. The Mn 3d PES spectrum exhibits a peak centered at approximately 4 eV below E(F) and the negligible spectral weight near E(F). This study suggests that the observed ferromagnetism in Ge1-xMnx arises from the phase-separated Mn-rich phase.  相似文献

We present results of a study of neutrino oscillation based on a 766 ton/year exposure of KamLAND to reactor antineutrinos. We observe 258 nu (e) candidate events with energies above 3.4 MeV compared to 365.2+/-23.7 events expected in the absence of neutrino oscillation. Accounting for 17.8+/-7.3 expected background events, the statistical significance for reactor nu (e) disappearance is 99.998%. The observed energy spectrum disagrees with the expected spectral shape in the absence of neutrino oscillation at 99.6% significance and prefers the distortion expected from nu (e) oscillation effects. A two-neutrino oscillation analysis of the KamLAND data gives Deltam(2)=7.9(+0.6)(-0.5)x10(-5) eV(2). A global analysis of data from KamLAND and solar-neutrino experiments yields Deltam(2)=7.9(+0.6)(-0.5)x10(-5) eV(2) and tan((2)theta=0.40(+0.10)(-0.07), the most precise determination to date.  相似文献

We investigated the orbital and antiferromagnetic ordering behaviors of the half-doped bilayer manganite La(2-2x)Sr(1+2x)Mn2O7 (x ? 0.5) by using Mn L(2,3)-edge resonant soft x-ray scattering. Resonant soft x-ray scattering reveals the CE-type orbital order below T(oo) ? 220 K, which shows partial melting behavior below T(m) ? 165 K. We also found coexistence CE- and A-type antiferromagnetic orders. Both orders involve the CE-type orbital order with nearly the same orbital character and are coupled with each other. These results manifest that the ground state with the CE-type antiferromagnetic order is easily susceptible to destabilization into the A-type one even with a small fluctuation of the doping level, as suggested by the extremely narrow magnetic phase boundaries at x ? 0.5±0.005.  相似文献

J/psi production has been measured in proton-proton collisions at square root of s=200 GeV over a wide rapidity and transverse momentum range by the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Distributions of the rapidity and transverse momentum, along with measurements of the mean transverse momentum and total production cross section are presented and compared to available theoretical calculations. The total J/psi cross section is 4.0+/-0.6(stat)+/-0.6(syst)+/-0.4(abs) mu b. The mean transverse momentum is 1.80+/-0.23(stat)+/-0.16(syst) GeV/c.  相似文献

Reaction of ethyl N-cyanoformimidate ( 3 ) and of ethyl N-carbelhoxyformimidate ( 5 ) with 3-aminopyrazole ( 2 ) gave 4-amino- and 4-oxo-3H-pyrazolo[1,5-a]-1,3,5-triazine ( 4 and 7 ), respectively. Reaction of 3-amino-4-(2,3-O-isopropylidene-5-O-trityl-β-D-ribofuranosyl)pyrazole ( 8 ) with the same reagents similarly gave the blocked 4-amino-8-ribosyl- and 4-oxo-3H-8-ribosyl-pyrazolo[ 1,5-a]-1,3,5-triazine ( 9 and 15 ), respectively. Deblocking in acid finally afforded the unblocked products 10 (an isostere of adenosine and formycin) and 16 (an isostere of inosine and formycin B). The corresponding derivatives in the a series were made by identical procedures for confirming all structural assignments. Preliminary in vitro testing results of 10 are included.  相似文献

In a copper-based local loop, a circuit pair is indirectly connected to each subscriber usually via a primary cross connection point (PCP) which acts as a buffer to absorb circuit demand fluctuations among subareas. But some telephone operators adhere to the classic practice of direct wiring based on technological preferences without taking advantage of cost-efficient flexibility points. We analyse the extra cost of maintaining the old practice of direct wiring over the popular one using flexibility points in a single PCP area. For that, the expectation of circuit shortages in subareas during a single replenishment period for the direct wiring is first obtained. Exploiting the convexity of the expectation, we then present a procedure for optimally allocating circuits among subareas, which not only serves its own purpose of circuit provisioning for the direct wiring but also precisely calculates the extra cost over the indirect case.  相似文献

We study the Josephson current through a Luttinger liquid in contact with two superconductors. We show that it can be deduced from the Casimir energy in a two-boundary version of the sine-Gordon model. We develop a new thermodynamic Bethe ansatz, which, combined with a subtle analytic continuation procedure, allows us to calculate this energy in closed form, and obtain the complete current-crossover function from the case of complete normal to complete Andreev reflection.  相似文献
