We present a measurement of the Bc+ meson lifetime in the decay mode Bc+ --> J/Psie+nue using the Collider Detector at Fermilab II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. From a sample of about of 360 pb(-1) of pp collisions at square root of s = 1.96 TeV, we reconstruct J/Psie+ pairs with invariant mass in the kinematically allowed range 4< M(J/Psie) < 6 GeV/c2. A fit to the decay-length distribution of 238 signal events yields a measured Bc+ meson lifetime of 0.463(-0.065)(+0.073)(stat) +/- 0.036(syst) ps.  相似文献

We present a measurement of the top quark pair production cross section in pp collisions at square root of s = 1.96 TeV using 318 pb(-1) of data collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab. We select tt[over ] decays into the final states enu+jets and mu nu+ jets, in which at least one b quark from the t-quark decays is identified using a secondary vertex-finding algorithm. Assuming a top quark mass of 178 GeV/c2, we measure a cross section of 8.7 +/- 0.9(stat)(-0.9)+1.1(syst) pb. We also report the first observation of tt[over ] with significance greater than 5sigma in the subsample in which both b quarks are identified, corresponding to a cross section of 10.1(-1.4)+1.6(stat)(-1.3)+2.0(syst) pb.  相似文献

We present the results of a search for standard model Higgs boson production with decay to WW*, identified through the leptonic final states e+ e- nu nu,+/-mu -/+nu nu and mu+ mu- nu nu. This search uses 360 pb -1 of data collected from pp collisions at square root of s =1.96 TeV by the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF II). We observe no signal excess and set 95% confidence level upper limits on the production cross section times branching ratio for the Higgs boson to WW* or any new scalar particle with similar decay products. These upper limits range from 5.5 to 3.2 pb for Higgs boson masses between 120 and 200 GeV/c2.  相似文献

Anti-symmetrical Lamb wave mode A0 presents a large sensitivity to mass loading and can be used in contact with liquids with a small attenuation. The advantages of this system are the possibility to get a large mass sensitivity. The sensitivity increases when the thickness of membrane decreases. Therefore the problem is to obtain thin piezoelectric membranes. A membrane of AlN with a thickness of 2 microm has been made. The measured mass sensitivity with a fluid is 200 cm(2) g(-1). In a practical use point of view, the problem in this kind of sensor is its temperature sensitivity. In order to reduce effective temperature sensitivity, a device with thin metallic strips is presented. On the same membrane two different waves with perpendicular propagating directions are produced. Experimentally, temperature sensitivity is rather different depending on the propagation direction but mass sensitivity is almost the same, this allows distinguishing temperature effects from those due to mass loading on the frequency shift measurements.  相似文献

An experimental system was constructed in order to measure the diffusion coefficient in three types of porous media, namely mica, sodic montmorillonite, and natural compact clay. Several salts at various concentrations were used for the measurements in order to investigate the influence of these factors. Influence of porosity was also studied. In a first approximation, all the results can be summarized by a simple Archie's law independent of the clay and of the solute. The diffusion and electric formation factors have also been systematically compared; they generally agree for large porosities, while they disagree for small porosities for clay and montmorillonite.  相似文献

For the measurement of atmospheric ozone concentrations, the mid-infrared and ultraviolet regions are both used by ground-, air-, or satellite-borne instruments. In this study we report the first laboratory intercomparison of the ozone absorption coefficients using simultaneous measurements in these spectral regions. The intercomparison shows good agreement (around 98.5%) between the HITRAN 2000 recommendation for the mid-infrared and the most reference measurements in the ultraviolet regions, whereas systematic differences of about 5.5% are observed when using the recommendation of HITRAN2003 for the mid-infrared. Possible reasons for this discrepancy are discussed. Future measurements are clearly needed to resolve this issue.  相似文献

Effects of the concentration of nitric acid in the determination of nickel and vanadium in the presence of other metals by flarneless atomic absorption spectrometry have been studied. Specific complexation of the metals in the aqueous phase suppresses the interferences. A method has been developed which allows the use of calibration curves from dilute acidic solutions in the determination of samples with high nitrate concentrations. The method is suitable for solutions reproducing the mineralization of airborne particulates.  相似文献

A sensor to detect markers of cardiac muscle cell death at less than 3 ng ml−1 and in less than 10 min has been achieved. This fiber-optic-based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor is being applied to detect myoglobin (MG) and cardiac troponin I (cTnI) in HEPES buffered saline solution. An in vivo sensor for the early detection of the onset of myocardial infarction (MI) will greatly enhance the patient care. MG and cTnI are two biological markers released from dying cardiac muscle cells during an MI, and their detection at biologically-relevant levels can be diagnostic of MI. Antibodies specific to an antigen of interest are attached to a carboxymethylated dextran layer on a gold SPR surface. With the method developed, the lower limit of detection (LOD) for MG is 2.9 ng ml−1 at 25 °C. The biological level for MG reaches 15-30 ng ml−1 in patient blood after myocardial damage. A Langmuir adsorption isotherm describes the binding well. For cTnI, a lower detection limit of 1.4 ng ml−1 was achieved in preliminary tests. cTnI levels are in the range of 1-3 ng ml−1 in patient blood after myocardial damage. The antibody reaction with the carboxymethylated dextran surface was optimized by modifying the reaction pH, the temperature, and the dextran chain length.  相似文献

We report an experimental study of the magnetic field B--> induced by a turbulent swirling flow of liquid sodium submitted to a transverse magnetic field B-->(0). We show that the induced field can behave nonlinearly as a function of the magnetic Reynolds number, R(m). At low R(m), the induced mean field along the axis of the flow, , and the one parallel to B-->(0), , first behave like R(2)(m), whereas the third component, , is linear in R(m). The sign of is determined by the flow helicity. At higher R(m), B--> strongly depends on the local geometry of the mean flow: decreases to zero in the core of the swirling flow but remains finite outside. We compare the experimental results with the computed magnetic induction due to the mean flow alone.  相似文献
