The intramolecular attack of carbanions to oxetanes were examined and several three, five, and six membered carbocyclic compounds were synthesized.     

Tunneling time based on the quantum diffusion process approach in multichannel and optical potential cases

We analyze the effects of inelastic scattering on the tunneling time theoretically, using generalized Nelson’s quantum mechanics. This generalization enables us to describe quantum system with channel couplings and optical potential in a real time stochastic approach, which seems to give us a new insight into quantum mechanics beyond Copenhagen interpretation     

Some realistic calculations on the migration process of hydrogen isotopes in bcc metals

By adopting the empirical interaction potential between hydrogen and metal atoms determined in our previous paper, calculations have been performed of the 2T configuration, in which two neighboring tetrahedral (T) sites are equally shared by a hydrogen (H) atom. The tunneling matrix element J and the activation energy are estimated by calculating the excitation energy of the H atom for the 2T state and the energy difference between the 2T and 1T state, respectively.From these calculations, it is suggested that H atoms in V and Fe migrate between the ground states of neighboring T sites by adiabatic transitions, whereas in the lower temperature region in Ta by non-adiabatic tunneling process.     

Synthesis and evaluation of 3-methyl-4-oxo-6-phenyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzofuran-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester derivatives as potent antitumor agents

For the construction of new combinatorial libraries, a lead compound was created by replacing the core structure of a hit compound discovered by screening for cytotoxic agents against a tumorigenic cell line. The newly designed compound maintained biological activity and allowed alternative library construction for antitumor drugs.     

Terbium-activated InOCI phosphor

Terbium-activated InOCI was found to show high luminous emission under cathode ray or ultraviolet excitation. This paper reports on its synthesis and emission properties.
