Bis(peroxo)vanadium(V) complexes are widely investigated as anticancer agents. They exert their antitumor and cyctotoxic effects through inhibition of tyrosine phosphatases and DNA cleavage, respectively. The latter process remains poorly understood. The mechanism of DNA cleavage by NH(4)[(phen)V(O)(eta(2)-O(2))(2)] (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) was investigated. Kinetic studies on DNA cleavage revealed that the complex is a single-strand nicking agent with no specificity. EPR experiments using 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidone (TMP) and 5,5'-dimethyl-1-pyrroline-N-oxide (DMPO) as spin-traps for singlet oxygen and hydroxyl radical, respectively, implicated hydroxyl radical production upon photodecomposition of bis(peroxo)vanadium(V). This was corroborated by benzoate inhibition of DNA strand scission and stoichiometric oxidation of 2-propanol to acetone upon irradiation of bis(peroxo)vanadium(V) phenanthroline. High-resolution polyacrylamide gel analysis of the vanadium cleavage reaction and [Fe(II)EDTA](2)(-)/H(2)O(2) resulted in comigration of "ladder" pattern bands, which superimposed when both reactions were run on the same lane. These findings identify hydroxyl radical produced from the photooxidation of the peroxo ligand on vanadium as the active species in DNA cleavage.  相似文献

A classical electrostatic polarization scheme using the additive distribution procedure has been applied to determine the longitudinal polarizability of an all-trans hexatriene molecule in an infinite stretched fiber. The parameters have been derived from ab initio CPHF/6-31G calculations and the electrostatic scheme has been validated via comparison with ab initio results on small clusters. Upon packing the polarizability of all-trans hexatriene increases by 7%. This small increase results from the balance between the enhancement of the polarizability due to collinear packing and the reduction associated with lateral packing.  相似文献

Reaction of K7[A,alpha-PW9Mo2O39] with Na2MoO4.2H2O in a mixture of water/dioxane/hydrochloric acid and further precipitation with (Bu4N)Br provided (Bu4N)3[A,alpha-PW9Mo3O40](3). Analogous reaction with K7-xNax[alpha-PW11O39] is an alternative to the synthesis of (Bu4N)3[alpha-PW11O39{MoVIO}]2. Multinuclear NMR and ESI mass spectrometry have been used to interpret the reaction of (Bu4N)x[alpha-PW11O39{ReO}](x=3 1; x=4 1I), (Bu4N)x[alpha-PW11O39{MoO}](x=3 2; x=4 2I) and (Bu4N)3[A,alpha-PW9Mo3O40]3 by organohydrazines, arylamines, tolylisocyanate and tetraphenylphosphine imide.  相似文献

The synthesis of marokite CaMn(2)O(4) nanowires using a hydrothermal method is reported. Transmission electron microscopy and electron diffraction measurements show that the nanowires are polycrystalline in nature with diameters between 10 and 20 nm and lengths ranging from approximately 100 to 500 nm. Most interestingly, in contrast with the bulk material, magnetization measurements show that these nanowires exhibit ferromagnetic ordering with a Curie temperature (T(C)) of approximately 40 K.  相似文献

Soapless emulsion copolymerization of styrene (S) and n-butyl acrylate (BuA) has been investigated using two types of initiator and different comonomer feed mixtures. When using K2S2O8 as initiator, the particle size and size distribution of the final latexes (500 nm and 1.003, respectively) is not significantly affected by the comonomer feed composition, whereas the molecular weight and surface characteristics were found to sharply change at high butyl acrylate content. Based on the most probable particle nucleation mechanism and type of chain termination in the monomer swollen particles, a tentative explanation of these results has been proposed. Replacing persulfate by a carboxylic initiator (4-4′-azobiscyanopentanoic acid) results in the formation of stable particles as α observed with the persulfate, provided the aqueous phase pH is fixed in between 6 and 7. Results on the initiator residue location as a function of the conversion point out that the particle flocculation mechanism is strongly significant in the preparation of such latexes.  相似文献
