Square-free-preserving and primitive-preserving homomorphisms

The aim of this paper is to investigate homomorphisms which reserve square-free languages or primitive languages. A characterization of square-free-preserving homomorphisms is presented. We show that every square-free-preserving homomorphism is primitive-preserving. Strongly cube-free-preserving homomorphisms are also studied.     

Large Scale Linear Programs and Heuristics for the Design of Survivable Telecommunication Networks

We consider the problem of providing a minimum cost multi-service network subject to one link failure scenarios. We assume our network is fully meshed and demand is satisfied by using direct or two hop-paths. We provide a large scale linear programming formulation and propose and test two effective heuristics.     

A real options approach for entering the Internet securities trading businesses with start‐up time

This paper uses a real options approach to establish a new evaluation model under uncertainty of both the volume of Internet securities transactions and the total transaction volume of a securities firm. The proposed approach can assist securities firms in evaluating the optimal thresholds for entering the Internet securities trading business and withdrawing from the conventional securities trading business. This paper assumes that the annual number of Internet securities transactions and the total annual number of securities transactions both follow a geometric Brownian motion. Besides, this model considers a start‐up time to complete the entry project's procedure. Accordingly, a decision model based on the real options approach is introduced, and the closed form solutions for the optimal threshold values of the entry or withdrawal models are determined. The conclusions provide some valuable references to help strategic managers of securities firms in making decisions on entering the Internet securities trading business or withdrawing from the conventional trading business. Some Limit Theorems in Geometric Processes

Geometric process (GP) was introduced by Lam[4,5], it is defined as a stochastic process {Xn, n = 1, 2,…} for which there exists a real number a > 0, such that {an-1 Xn, n = 1,2, …} forms a renewal process (RP). In this paper, we study some limit theorems in GP. We first derive the Wald equation for GP and then obtain the limit theorems of the age, residual life and the total life at t for a GP. A general limit theorem for Sn with a > 1 is also studied. Furthermore, we make a comparison between GP and RP, including the comparison of their limit distributions of the age, residual life and the total life at t.

在本文中提出一个新方法——阶梯折算法来研究在任意载荷下任意非均匀和任意变厚度伯努利-欧拉梁的动力响应问题.研究了自由振动和强迫振动.新方法需要将区间离散为一定数目的元素,每个元素可看作是均匀和等厚度的.因此均匀、等厚度梁的一般解可在每个元素上应用.然后用初参数表示的整个梁的一般解使之满足相邻二元素间的物理和几何连续条件,这样就可以得到解析形式的自由振动的频率方程和解析形式的强迫振动的最终解,它化为求解二元线性代数方程,与离散元素的数目无关.现在的方法可推广应用至任意非均匀及任意变厚度有粘滞性和其他种类的梁以及其他结构元件问题上去.     

High longitudinal selectivity of shifting multiplexing in volume holograms

High longitudinal selectivity of the shifting multiplexing with spherical reference wave is proposed and demonstrated. A simplified method based on wave optics is used for calculating the selectivity, and the result fits well the experimental measurement. Under the paraxial condition, a simple formula for the longitudinal selectivity is introduced. With use of an object lens with effective NA=0.817, we obtain that an FWHM of selectivity is as small as 1 μm.     

DRDF analysis of wide-angle x-ray scattering of natural rubber

A differential radial distribution function (DRDF) of molten natural rubber (NR) was derived from its wide-angle x-ray scattering (WAXS) data. Three peaks with Bragg spacings 4.85, 2.31, and 1.23 Å corresponding, respectively, to interchain, C₁-C₃ and C₁ -C₂ distances are present in the corrected WAXS curve. The derived DRDF, which is shown to be greatly improved than the ones published so far, contains six peaks located at 1.51, 2.48, 3.98, 5.68, 10.65, and 15.25 Å. Maximum contributions of intramolecular atomic distances to the radial distribution peaks were estimated and compared with the experimental results. The comparison shows that the first three peaks are intramolecular in origin and the remaining peaks are predominantly due to intermolecular regularities. A periodicity of an approximately constant interval of 5.26 Å is found between the intermolecular peaks and is attributable to the organizations of more or less parallel chain segments in the material. This finding provided additional evidence for the presence of local lateral ordering to the extent of about 30 Å in molten-state natural rubber.     

Partitioning Boolean lattices into chains of subsets
