We show that [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PC61BM) at the surface of thin film blends of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT):PC61BM can be patterned by water. Using a series of heating and cooling steps, water droplets condense onto the blend film surface. This is possible due to the liquid-like, water swollen layer of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate. Breath pattern water deformation and subsequent drying on the film surface results in isolated PC61BM structures, showing that migration of PC61BM takes place. This was confirmed by selective wavelength illumination to spatially map the photoluminescence from the P3HT and PC61BM. Within a device, redistribution of the surface PC61BM into aggregates would be catastrophic, as it would markedly alter device performance. We also postulate that repeated volume change of the poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate layer by water swelling may be, in part, responsible for the delamination failure mechanism in thin film solar cells devices. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper derives the difference in pressure between the beginning and the end of a rectangular microchannel through which a flowing liquid (water, with or without surfactant, and mixtures of water and glycerol) carries bubbles that contact all four walls of the channel. It uses an indirect method to derive the pressure in the channel. The pressure drop depends predominantly on the number of bubbles in the channel at both low and high concentrations of surfactant. At intermediate concentrations of surfactant, if the channel contains bubbles (of the same or different lengths), the total, aggregated length of the bubbles in the channel is the dominant contributor to the pressure drop. The difference between these two cases stems from increased flow of liquid through the "gutters"-the regions of the system bounded by the curved body of the bubble and the corners of the channel-in the presence of intermediate concentrations of surfactant. This paper presents a systematic and quantitative investigation of the influence of surfactants on the flow of fluids in microchannels containing bubbles. It derives the contributions to the overall pressure drop from three regions of the channel: (i) the slugs of liquid between the bubbles (and separated from the bubbles), in which liquid flows as though no bubbles were present; (ii) the gutters along the corners of the microchannels; and (iii) the curved caps at the ends of the bubble. 相似文献

Conversion of N=N=CHSiMe3 to O=C=CHSiMe3 by the radical complexes .Cr(CO)3C5R5 (R = H, CH3) derived from dissociation of [Cr(CO)3(C5R5)]2 have been investigated under CO, Ar, and N2 atmospheres. Under an Ar or N2 atmosphere the reaction is stoichiometric and produces the Cr[triple bond]Cr triply bonded complex [Cr(CO)2(C5R5)]2. Under a CO atmosphere regeneration of [Cr(CO)3(C5R5)]2 (R = H, CH3) occurs competitively and conversion of diazo to ketene occurs catalytically as well as stoichiometrically. Two key intermediates in the reaction, .Cr(CO)2(ketene)(C5R5) and Cr2(CO)5(C5R5)2 have been detected spectroscopically. The complex .Cr(13CO)2(O=13C=CHSiMe3)(C5Me5) has been studied by electron spin resonance spectroscopy in toluene solution: g(iso) = 2.007; A(53Cr) = 125 MHz; A(13CO) = 22.5 MHz; A(O=13C=CHSiMe3) = 12.0 MHz. The complex Cr2(CO)5(C5H5)2, generated in situ, does not show a signal in its 1H NMR and reacts relatively slowly with CO. It is proposed to be a ground-state triplet in keeping with predictions based on high level density functional theory (DFT) studies. Computed vibrational frequencies are also in good agreement with experimental data. The rates of CO loss from 3Cr2(CO)5(C5H5)2 producing 1[Cr(CO)2(C5H5)]2 and CO addition to 3Cr2(CO)5(C5H5)2 producing 1[Cr(CO)3(C5H5)]2 have been measured by kinetics and show DeltaH approximately equal 23 kcal mol(-1) for both processes. Enthalpies of reduction by Na/Hg under CO atmosphere of [Cr(CO)n(C5H5)]2 (n = 2,3) have been measured by solution calorimetry and provide data for estimation of the Cr[triple bond]Cr bond strength in [Cr(CO)2(C5H5)]2 as 72 kcal mol(-1). The complex [Cr(CO)2(C5H5)]2 does not readily undergo 13CO exchange at room temperature or 50 degrees C implying that 3Cr2(CO)5(C5H5)2 is not readily accessed from the thermodynamically stable complex [Cr(CO)2(C5H5)]2. A detailed mechanism for metalloradical based conversion of diazo and CO to ketene and N2 is proposed on the basis of a combination of experimental and theoretical data. 相似文献

From the reaction mixture of 3,6-di-tert-butylcatechol, H2[3,6L(cat)], [CrCl3(thf)3], and NEt3 in CH3CN in the presence of air, the neutral complex [CrIII(3,6L*(sq))3] (S = 0) (1) was isolated. Reduction of 1 with [Co(Cp)2] in CH2Cl2 yielded microcrystals of [Co(Cp)2][CrIII(3,6L*(sq))2(3,6L(cat))] (S = 1/2) (2) where (3,6L*(sq)(1-) is the pi-radical monoanionic o-semiquinonate of the catecholate dianion (3,6Lcat)(2-). Electrochemistry demonstrated that both species are members of the electron-transfer series [Cr(3,6LO,O)]z (z = 0, 1-, 2-, 3-). The corresponding tris(benzo-1,2-dithiolato)chromium complex [N(n-Bu)4][CrIII(3,5L*S,S)2(3,5LS,S)] (S = 1/2) (3) has also been isolated; (3,5LS,S)(2-) represents the closed-shell dianion 3,5-di-tert-butylbenzene-1,2-dithiolate(2-), and (3,5L*S,S)(1-) is its monoanionic pi radical. Complex 3 is a member of the electron-transfer series [Cr(3,5L(S,S))3]z (z = 0, 1-, 2-, 3-). It is shown by Cr K-edge and S K-edge X-ray absorption, UV-vis, and EPR spectroscopies, as well as X-ray crystallography, of 1 and 3 that the oxidation state of the central Cr ion in each member of both electron-transfer series remains the same (+III) and that all redox processes are ligand-based. A nonadiabatic quantum dynamics calculation involving four coupled potential energy surfaces (two degenerate 3A' ', one 3A', and one 1A') and the spin-orbit coupling matrix for these states is reported for the title reaction. Upon exposure to UV light, the disubstituted dibenzobarrelene derivative 1a turns green in the solid phase and reverts back to its original pale-yellow color within several hours in the dark. The lifetime of the colored species in degassed benzene at room temperature is 37 +/- 2 s (Ea for decoloration is 14.5 +/- 0.7 kcal mol-1 and log A is 8.92 +/- 0.5 s-1) and highly sensitive to molecular oxygen; the Stern-Volmer quenching constant is 6.9 +/- 0.2 x 108 M-1 s-1. Similarly, the disubstituted dibenzobarrelenes 1b and 1c exhibited pink coloration when exposed to UV light in the solid phase. On the basis of combined experimental and theoretical evidence, it is proposed that upon photoexcitation the excited singlet state of 1a undergoes rapid intersystem crossing to its triplet state, followed by intramolecular delta-H abstraction, to yield the triplet biradical intermediate (3)2. Upon prolonged irradiation, 2 undergoes cyclization to the alcohol 3, which affords the enone 4 as the final photoproduct. The delta-H abstraction on the triplet-state potential energy surface, calculated at the B3LYP/6-31G* level of density functional theory (DFT), has an activation energy of 18.5 kcal/mol. Further, the absorption spectrum of the triplet biradical (3)2, obtained from time-dependent DFT calculations, displays an intense absorption maximum at 670 nm, which is in good agreement with the observed absorption peak at 700 nm. The molecular-orbital analysis of the triplet diradical (3)2 suggests that its long-wavelength absorption involves the transition of the unpaired electron from the comparatively localized benzyl-type HOMO to the extensively conjugated benzoyl-type LUMO. The present experimental and theoretical results strongly support the intervention of a long-lived triplet biradical (3)2 in the photochromism of appropriately substituted dibenzobarrelenes. 相似文献

Over the last few years there have been significant developments in the field of three-dimensional atom probe (3DAP) analysis. This article reviews some of the technical compromises that have led to different instrument designs and the recent improvements in performance. An instrument has now been developed, based around a novel reflectron configuration combining both energy compensation and focusing elements, that yields a large field of view and very high mass resolution. The use of laser pulsing in the 3DAP, together with developments in specimen preparation methods using a focused ion-beam instrument, have led to a significant widening in the range of materials science problems that can be addressed with the 3DAP. InI3 is able to catalyze the conversion of methanol to a mixture of hydrocarbons at 200 degrees C with one highly branched alkane, 2,2,3-trimethylbutane (triptane), being obtained in high selectivity. The mechanism for InI3-catalyzed reactions appears to be basically the same as that proposed for the previously studied ZnI2-catalyzed system in which sequential methylation of olefins is followed by competing reactions of the resulting carbocation: proton loss to give the next olefin vs hydride transfer to give the corresponding alkane. Although the reaction conditions and typical triptane yields achievable with ZnI2 and InI3 are quite similar, the two systems behave rather differently in a number of important particulars, including significant differences between the detailed product distributions. Most of the differences in behavior can be ascribed to the stronger Lewis acidity of InI3, including the ability to activate some alkanes, the higher activity for methylation of arenes, and the fact that methanol conversion can be observed at somewhat lower temperatures with InI3 than with ZnI2. 相似文献
