We develop an analytic model of time-resolved fluorescent imaging of photons migrating through a semi-infinite turbid medium bounded by an infinite plane in the presence of a single stationary point fluorophore embedded in the medium. In contrast to earlier models of fluorescent imaging in which photon motion is assumed to be some form of continuous diffusion process, the present analysis is based on a continuous-time random walk (CTRW) on a simple cubic lattice, the objective being to estimate the position and lifetime of the fluorophore. This can provide information related to local variations in pH and temperature with potential medical significance. Aspects of the theory were tested using time-resolved measurements of the fluorescence from small inclusions inside tissue-like phantoms. The experimental results were found to be in good agreement with theoretical predictions provided that the fluorophore was not located too close to the planar boundary, a common problem in many diffusive systems. 相似文献

The influence of water column variability on low-frequency, shallow water geoacoustic inversion results is considered. The data are estimates of modal eigenvalues obtained from measurements of a point source acoustic field using a horizontal aperture array in the water column. The inversion algorithm is based on perturbations to a background waveguide model with seabed properties consistent with the measured eigenvalues. Water column properties in the background model are assumed to be known, as would be obtained from conductivity, temperature, and depth measurements. The scope of this work in addressing the impact of water column variability on inversion is twofold. Range-dependent propagation effects as they pertain to eigenvalue estimation are first considered. It is shown that mode coupling is important even for weak internal waves and can enhance modal eigenvalue estimates. Second, the effect of the choice of background sound speed profile in the water column is considered for its impact on the estimated bottom acoustic properties. It is shown that a range-averaged sound velocity profile yields the best geoacoustic parameter estimates. 相似文献

The purpose of equalization in room acoustics is to compensate for the undesired modification that an enclosure introduces to signals such as audio or speech. In this work, equalization in a large part of the volume of a room is addressed. The multiple point method is employed with an acoustic power-output penalty term instead of the traditional quadratic source effort penalty term. We consider a large black hole in asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetime of arbitrary dimension with a Minkowski boundary. By performing an appropriate slicing as we approach the boundary, we obtain via holographic renormalization a gauge theory fluid obeying Bjorken hydrodynamics in the limit of large longitudinal proper time. The metric we obtain reproduces to leading order the metric recently found as a direct solution of the Einstein equations in five dimensions. The microwave spectrum (41-10 GHz) and the infrared spectrum (4000-50 cm−1) of methyl thiolformate have been obtained and analyzed. The spectra are consistent with a single molecular conformation having a planar array of heavy atoms and with the alkyl group cis to the carbonyl group. The measured rotational constants are: A, 11042.22 MHz; B, 5118.27 MHz; C, 3562.03 MHz (κ = −0.5839). No internal rotation doublets were observed in the microwave spectrum for the ground vibrational state, which implies that the barrier hindering internal rotation of the methyl group is either much larger or much smaller than the corresponding value for methyl formate. If the former is true then a lower limit of 10.5 kJ mol−1 may be placed on the barrier height.The dipole moment of methyl thiolformate was measured using the Stark effect to be 1.58 ± 0.05 Debyes (μA = 1.52 D; μB = 0.43 D) for the vapor, and for dilute solutions in benzene at 295 K the value of 1.6 ± 0.1 D was found from capacitance measurements.SCF computations using minimal basis sets of STO/3G atomic orbitals and extended basis sets of STO/4.31G atomic orbitals have been carried out for methyl thiolformate and methyl formate. Experimental data are presented for the angular dependence of the relative flux, the mean energy and the speed ratio of deuterium molecules desorbing from a Ni(111) crystal surface at a surface temperature of Ts = 1143 K and at sulphur coverages ranging between 30% and less than 2% of a monolayer.The angular flux distribution is sharply peaked in the forward direction (cosdθwith 3 ? d ? 5) and the mean energy 〈E〉 of the desorbate depends strongly on the desorption angle θ. For normal desorption is about 700 K higher than Ts and for glancing angles (θ = 80°) it decreases to about 400 K below Ts The results obtained on sulphur free and sulphur covered Ni(111) surfaces are compared with our former data on polycrystalline nickel. The main differences in the kinetic features can be ascribed to the surface roughness. Accordingly, the angular distributions of flux, mean energy, and speed ratio, which deviate strongly from the Knudson and Maxwellian law, do not seem to depend considerably on sulphur coverage and surface structure. A qualitative explanation for these deviations is presented using the principle of detailed balancing. 相似文献
