[reaction: see text] Monolithic polymer supports and scavengers were prepared via nucleophilic displacement of chlorine in poly(4-vinylbenzyl chloride-co-divinylbenzene) PolyHIPE materials. Reactions of monolithic PolyHIPE with tris(2-aminoethyl)amine, 4-aminobutanol, tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane, morpholine, and hexamethylenetetramine led to functionalized polymers with amino and hydroxy functionalities with high degrees of conversion. 4-Chlorobenzoyl chloride was efficiently and rapidly scavenged from solution by the tris(2-aminoethyl)amine derivative of monolithic poly(4-vinylbenzyl chloride-co-divinylbenzene) PolyHIPE at ambient temperature.  相似文献

This study investigated the speciation and bioavailability of selenium in yeast-based intervention agents from multiple manufacturers from several time points. Sources of selenized yeast included Nutrition 21 (San Diego, CA), which supplied the Nutritional Prevention of Cancer (NPC) Trial from 1981-1996; Cypress Systems (Fresno, CA; 1997-1999); and Pharma Nord (Vejle, Denmark; 1999-2000), which supplied the Prevention of Cancer by Intervention by Selenium (PRECISE) Trial pilot studies. The low-molecular-selenium species were liberated from the samples by proteolytic hydrolysis followed by separation by ion exchange liquid chromatography and detection by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. The results for the NPC tablets showed that selenomethionine, together with 3 unidentified selenium compounds, were predominant in the sample hydrolysates. The relative amounts of the 4 selenium species varied (p < 0.05) among several of the 7 tablet batches used during the course of the NPC Trial. In comparison, 5 batches of more recently produced selenized yeasts, which were used as a source of selenium in the PRECISE and other trials, contained less of the unknown compounds and more selenomethionine at 54-60% of the total selenium in the yeasts. One batch of yeast, however (from 1985), which originated from the same producer as the yeast used in the NPC tablets, contained only 27% of selenium in the sample as selenomethionine. Human subjects receiving 200 microg selenium/day in the UK PRECISE Pilot Trial showed a higher concentration (p < 0.01) and higher increase from baseline in plasma selenium than did the same dosage used in the NPC Trial. Differences in intake, speciation, or bioavailability of selenium from the yeast-based supplements in the population groups studied may explain this. Furthermore, the selenium concentration in whole blood from the Danish PRECISE Pilot Trial was higher (p < 0.001) than that obtained with synthetic L-selenomethionine in a comparable group of Danes, both groups having been treated with 300 microg selenium/day.  相似文献

The stabilization of unsupported Ti-M (M = Fe, Ru, Co) heterodinuclear complexes has been achieved by use of amidotitanium building blocks containing tripodal amido ligands. Fenske-Hall calculations performed on the idealized system HC(CH(2)NH)(3)Ti-Fe(CO)(2)Cp (6x) have revealed a significant degree of pi-donor-acceptor interaction between the two metal fragments reinforcing the Ti-Fe sigma-bond. Due to the availability of energetically low-lying pi-acceptor orbitals at the Ti center this partial multiple bonding is more pronounced that in the tin analogue HC(CH(2)NH)(3)Sn-Fe(CO)(2)Cp (15x) in which an N-Sn sigma-orbital may act as pi-acceptor orbital.  相似文献

Abstract Although broadband UV-B irradiation has been shown to induce selective immunosuppression in a variety of experimental systems, the wavelength dependence of the immunomodulation and the initial events in the skin remain unclear. In the present study three UV lamps were used at suberythermal doses on C3H mice: a conventional broadband UV-B source (270–350 nm), a narrowband UV-B source (311–312 nm) and a UV-A source (320400 nm). Their effects on the photoisomerization of the naturally occumng trans- isomer of urocanic acid (UCA) to cis- UCA, on the density of Langerhans cells and on the ability of epidermal cells to stimulate allogeneic lymphocytes in the mixed skin lymphocyte reaction (MSLR) were ascertained. Broadband UV-B irradiation was more efficient than narrowband UV-B at reducing the density and function of Langerhans cells, while UV-A irradiation was least effective. These changes were most pronounced immediately following irradiation, were dose dependent and were only detected in UV-exposed areas of skin. There was a close correlation between the UV-induced reduction in Langerhans cell density and the formation of cis -UCA in the epidermis. This correlation was not detected between the reduction in the MSLR response following UV irradiation in vivo and cis-UCA formation.  相似文献

Localized orbitals are derived for the ground states of the oxygen and nitric oxide molecules by applying localization methods separately to the orbitals containing electrons of alpha- and betaspin. Both the intrinsic energy localization and the uniform localization methods are used. The resulting localized orbitals are in good agreement with the formulae suggested by Linnett.
Zusammenfassung Für die Grundzustände der Moleküle O2 und NO werden lokalisierte Orbitale abgeleitet, indem die Lokalisierungsmethoden getrennt für die Orbitale mit- und-Spin angewendet werden. Dabei werden sowohl die eigentlichen Energielokalisierungsmethoden als auch die gleichförmigen Lokalisierungsmethoden benutzt. Die erhaltenen lokalisierten Orbitale stimmen gut mit den von Linnett vorgeschlagenen Formeln überein.

The addition of the strongly pi-bonding ligands CO or tert-butyl isocyanide to the low-spin five-coordinate iron(II) nitrite species [Fe(TpivPP)(NO2)]- (TpivPP = picket fence porphyrin) gives two new six-coordinate species [Fe(TpivPP)(NO2)(CO)]- and [Fe(TpivPP)(NO2)(t-BuNC)]-. These species have been characterized by single-crystal structure determinations and by UV-vis, IR, and M?ssbauer spectroscopies. All evidence shows that in the mixed-ligand iron(II) porphyrin species, [Fe(TpivPP)(NO2)(CO)]-, the two trans, pi-accepting ligands CO and nitrite compete for pi density. The CO ligand however dominates the bonding. The Fe-N(NO2) bond lengths for the two independent anions in the unit cell at 2.006(4) and 2.009(4) A are lengthened compared to other nitrite species with either no trans ligands or non-pi-accepting trans ligands to nitrite. The Fe-C(CO) bond lengths are 1.782(4) A and 1.789(5) A for the two anions. The two Fe-C-O angles at 175.5(4) and 177.5(4) degrees are essentially linear in both anions. The quadrupole splitting for [Fe(TpivPP)(NO2)(CO)]- was determined to be 0.32 mm/s, and the isomer shift was 0.18 mm/s at room temperature in zero applied field. Both of the M?ssbauer parameters are much smaller than those found for six-coordinate low-spin iron(II) porphyrinates with neutral nitrogen-donating ligands as well as iron(II) nitro complexes. However, the M?ssbauer parameters are typical of other six-coordinate CO porphyrinates signifying that CO is the more dominant ligand. The CO stretching frequency of 1974 cm(-1) is shifted only slightly to higher energy compared to six-coordinate CO complexes with neutral nitrogen-donor ligands trans to CO. Pyridine carboxamides are a class of medicinal agents with activity that includes the reduction of iron-induced renal damage, the regulation of nicotinamidase activity, and radio- and chemosensitization. Such pharmacological activities, and the prevalence of the carboxamide moiety and the importance of amide rotations in biology, motivate detailed investigation of energetics in these systems. In this study, we report the use of dynamic nuclear magnetic resonance to measure the amide rotational barriers in the pyridine carboxamides picolinamide and nicotinamide. The activation enthalpies and entropies of DeltaH++ = 12.9 +/- 0.3 kcal/mol and DeltaS++ = -7.7 +/- 0.9 cal/mol K for nicotinamide and DeltaH++ = 18.3 +/- 0.4 kcal/mol and DeltaS++ = +1.3 +/- 1.0 cal/mol K for picolinamide report a substantial energetic difference for these regioisomers. Ab initio calculations of the rotational barriers are in good agreement with the experimentally determined values and help partition the 5.4 kcal/mol enthalpy difference into its major contributions. Of principal importance are the variations in steric interactions in the ground states of picolinamide and nicotinamide, superior pi electron donation from the pyridine ring in the transition state of nicotinamide, and an intramolecular hydrogen bond in the ground state of picolinamide.  相似文献

The synthesis of the silver(I) salt of the highly methylated carborane anion [closo-1-H-CB(11)Me(11)](-) is described, Ag[closo-1-H-CB(11)Me(11)] 1, which in the solid state shows close intermolecular Ag...H(3)C contacts. Addition of various monodentate phosphines to 1 results in the formation of the complexes (R(3)P)Ag[closo-1-H-CB(11)Me(11)] [R = Ph, 2; cyclohexyl (C(6)H(11)), 3; (3,5-Me(2)-C(6)H(3)), 4]. All these complexes show close intermolecular Ag.H(3)C contacts in the solid state that are considerably shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radius of methyl (2.00 A) and the ionic radius of silver(I) (1.29 A). For 2 and 3 there are other close intermolecular Ag...H(3)C contacts in the solid state, arising from proximate carborane anions in the crystal lattice. Addition of methyl groups to the periphery of the phosphine ligand (complex 4) switches off the majority of these interactions, leaving essentially a single cage interacting with the cationic silver-phosphine fragment through three CH(3) groups. In solution (CD(2)Cl(2)) Ag...H(3)C contacts remain, as evidenced by both the downfield chemical shift change and the significant line-broadening observed for the cage methyl signals. These studies also show that the metal fragment is fluxional over the surface of the cage. The Ag...H(3)C interactions in solution may be switched off by addition of a stronger Lewis base than [closo-1-H-CB(11)Me(11)](-). Thus, addition of [NBu(4)][closo-1-H-CB(11)H(5)Br(6)] to 2 affords (Ph(3)P)Ag[closo-1-H-CB(11)H(5)Br(6)], while adding Et(2)O or PPh(3) affords the well-separated ion-pairs [(Ph(3)P)(L)Ag][closo-1-H-CB(11)Me(11)] (L = OEt(2) 5, PPh(3) 6,) both of which have been crystallographically characterized. DFT calculations on 2 (at the B3LYP/DZVP level) show small energy differences between the possible coordination isomers of this compound, with the favored geometry being one in which the [(Ph(3)P)Ag](+) fragment interacts with three of the [BCH(3)] vertices on the lower surface of the cage, similar to the experimentally observed structure of 4.  相似文献

We have performed ab initio fourth-order Møller–Plesset perturbation theory calculations in the framework of the supermolecule approach on the vertical excitation spectra of the weakly bound van der Waals N2–He dimer. They indicate a ``T-shaped' stablest ground N2(X1g+)–He(1S) electronic state with a well depth, De, of 21.63 cm–1 at a minimum distance, Re, of 3.44 Å and zero-point vibration correction, Do, of 7.07 cm–1. They also indicate a ``T-shaped' stablest excited conformer with Re=3.25 Å, De=36.85 cm–1 and Do=17.06 cm–1 for the N2(B3g)–He(1S) triplet electronic level. In order to investigate the use of less-demanding correlation methods, test density functional theory calculations using the mPW1PW exchange–correlation functional are also presented for comparison.  相似文献

Collision-induced dissociation (CID) mass spectra were generated for azaspiracids using electrospray ionisation (ESI), and hydrogen/deuterium (H/D) exchange was used to ascertain the number and type of replaceable hydrogens in the three predominant azaspiracid toxins. H/D exchange was conveniently achieved using deuterated solvents for liquid chromatography (LC). Using ion-trap mass spectrometry, multiple-stage CID experiments (MS(n)) on the protonated and fully exchanged ions were performed to decipher characteristic fragmentation pathways. The precursor and product ions from azaspiracids lost up to five water molecules from different regions during MS(n) experiments and it was possible to distinguish between the water losses from different molecular regions. These studies confirmed that the first water-loss ion in the spectra of azaspiracids resulted from dehydration at the vicinal diol at C20-C21. Five MS dissociation pathways were identified that resulted from fragmentation of the carbon skeleton of azaspiracids producing nitrogen-containing ions. Two pathways, involving cleavage of the E-ring and C27-C28, gave ions that were found in all azaspiracids. Three pathways, A-ring, C-ring and C19-C20 cleavages, were useful for distinguishing between azaspiracid analogues. The same product ions from backbone fragmentation were also observed using hybrid quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (QqTOFMS). The fragmentation of the A-ring was the most facile and was exploited in the development of LC/MS(n) methods for the analysis of azaspiracids.  相似文献
