The rectum of the bee Oxaea flavescens contains six hollow rectal papillae, in contrast to rectal pads found in others Hymenoptera. The rectal epithelium is formed by cubical cells with structural specializations for fluid transport, such as apical plasma membrane invaginations, endocytic vesicles, scalariform junctions, wide extracellular space and double-membrane vesicles. Globular-shaped cells form the rectal papillae with surface plasma membrane invaginations that vary from small depressions to very large sinuses. The cell-cell contact is narrow, exhibiting extensive regions with scalariform junction, while cytoplasmic free ribosome-like material is prominent. These ultrastructural features are discussed in relation to their role in excretion in this bee.  相似文献

Radul has recently introduced a map from the Lie algebra of differential operators on the circle of W n . In this Letter, we extend this map to W KP (q) , a recently introduced one-parameter deformation of WKP - the second Hamiltonian structure of the KP hierarchy. We study the stability of network communication after removal of a fraction q=1-p of links under the assumption that communication is effective only if the shortest path between nodes i and j after removal is shorter than al(ij)(a> or =1) where l(ij) is the shortest path before removal. For a large class of networks, we find analytically and numerically a new percolation transition at p(c)=(kappa(0)-1)((1-a)/a), where kappa(0) [triple bond] / and k is the node degree. Above p(c), order N nodes can communicate within the limited path length al(ij), while below p(c), N(delta) (delta<1) nodes can communicate. We expect our results to influence network design, routing algorithms, and immunization strategies, where short paths are most relevant.  相似文献

We measure polarization-resolved instantaneous patterns in a large-aspect ratio quasi-isotropic Nd:YAG laser. High correlation between the instantaneous orthogonal polarization patterns recorded at the earlier stages of the laser pulse has been found due to the strong cross saturation between both polarization modes.  相似文献

We investigate the transition from integrability to chaos in a system built of usp(4) elements, both in the quantum case and in its classical limit, obtained using coherent states. This algebraic Hamiltonian consists in an integrable term plus a nonlinear perturbation, and we see that the level spacing distribution for the quantum system is well approximated by the Berry-Robnik-Brody distribution, and accordingly the classical limit displays mixed dynamics.  相似文献

Spectroscopy techniques are valuable tools in biomedical research and have been used extensively in the study of disease. However, neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS) have received little attention and the available spectroscopy studies are limited, both in overall numbers of patients studied and the disease samples considered. MS is a complex immune-mediated disease, with variable clinical courses and limited therapeutic options. This review aims to summarize current literature in the area, demonstrating how spectroscopy techniques can provide valuable information to inform and advance research into the most common neurological condition affecting young adults.  相似文献

We propose a realistic circuit QED experiment to test the extraction of past-future vacuum entanglement to a pair of superconducting qubits. The qubit P interacts with the quantum field along an open transmission line for an interval T_{on} and then, after a time-lapse T_{off}, the qubit F starts interacting for a time T_{on} in a symmetric fashion. After that, past-future quantum correlations will have transferred to the qubits, even if the qubits do not coexist at the same time. We show that this experiment can be realized with current technology and discuss its utility as a possible implementation of a quantum memory.  相似文献

Using density functional theory and molecular dynamics we found that N-decorated single walled (8,0) carbon nanotubes are potential high capacity hydrogen storage media. This system could store up to 6.0 wt% hydrogen at 300 K and ambient pressure, with average adsorption energy of −80 meV/(H2). Nitrogen coverage was C8N.  相似文献
