In this paper, we study the algebraic geometry of any two-point code on the Hermitian curve and reveal the purely geometric nature of their dual minimum distance. We describe the minimum-weight codewords of many of their dual codes through an explicit geometric characterization of their supports. In particular, we show that they appear as sets of collinear points in many cases.  相似文献

We characterize the long‐time asymptotic behavior of the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation on the line with symmetric, nonzero boundary conditions at infinity by using a variant of the recently developed inverse scattering transform (IST) for such problems and by employing the nonlinear steepest‐descent method of Deift and Zhou for oscillatory Riemann‐Hilbert problems. First, we formulate the IST over a single sheet of the complex plane without introducing the uniformization variable that was used by Biondini and Kova?i? in 2014. The solution of the focusing NLS equation with nonzero boundary conditions is thereby associated with a matrix Riemann‐Hilbert problem whose jumps grow exponentially with time for certain portions of the continuous spectrum. This growth is the signature of the well‐known modulational instability within the context of the IST. We then eliminate this growth by performing suitable deformations of the Riemann‐Hilbert problem in the complex spectral plane. The results demonstrate that the solution of the focusing NLS equation with nonzero boundary conditions remains bounded at all times. Moreover, we show that, asymptotically in time, the xt ‐plane decomposes into two types of regions: a left far‐field region and a right far‐field region, where the solution equals the condition at infinity to leading order up to a phase shift, and a central region in which the asymptotic behavior is described by slowly modulated periodic oscillations. Finally, we show how, in the latter region, the modulus of the leading‐order solution, initially obtained as a ratio of Jacobi theta functions, can be reduced to the well‐known elliptic solutions of the focusing NLS equation. These results provide the first characterization of the long‐time behavior of generic perturbations of a constant background in a modulationally unstable medium. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

In this paper we are interested in gaining local stability insights about the interior equilibria of delay models arising in biomathematics. The models share the property that the corresponding characteristic equations involve delay-dependent coefficients. The presence of such dependence requires the use of suitable criteria which usually makes the analytical work harder so that numerical techniques must be used. Most existing methods for studying stability switching of equilibria fail when applied to such a class of delay models. To this aim, an efficient criterion for stability switches was recently introduced in [E. Beretta, Y. Kuang, Geometric stability switch criteria in delay differential systems with delay dependent parameters, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 33 (2002) 1144–1165] and extended [E. Beretta, Y. Tang, Extension of a geometric stability switch criterion, Funkcial Ekvac 46(3) (2003) 337–361]. We describe how to numerically detect the instability regions of positive equilibria by using such a criterion, considering both discrete and distributed delay models.  相似文献

A new sample business survey for agriculture, the REA survey, and a project of integration with the FADN network (RICA in Italy) have significantly changed the production of statistical information nowadays available with reference to the agricultural sector. On the basis of this relevant information, new economic analyses are being developed on farms’ performance, agricultural households’ income and the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). In this paper the authors estimate the relationship between the levels of variables of interest and their sampling errors using models in order to improve the accessibility of the information on estimates accuracy to the final users (agricultural analysts, policy makers). The main interpretations of the quantum-mechanical wave function are presented emphasizing how they can be divided into two ensembles: The ones that deny and the other ones that attribute a form of reality to quantum waves. It is also shown why these waves cannot be classical and must be submitted to the restriction of the complementarity principle. Applying the concept of smooth complementarity, it is shown that there can be no reason to attribute reality only to the events and not to the wave or to the initial state of a given system. Thereafter, an experiment proposed by the authors is presented, where it is shown that the wave-like behaviour allows predictions that are not allowed on the grounds of a particle-like behaviour. Automatic segmentation and classification of color images is a problem of great practical interest in different areas. This paper presents an algorithm for this purpose which is divided in three steps. Firstly, the regions of interest are isolated from the rest of the image based on threshold functions defined in theYUV andYIQ color spaces, producing a set of connected components. Then, a set of features is computed to enable a quantitative evaluation of the segmented objects. Finally, the image is classified by means of a decision rule based on the analysis of the differences between the computed measures and a set of ideally segmented images, according to experts’ assessment. The algorithm was applied to a decision support tool for estrus detection in cattle. This approach constitutes a valuable alternative to improve this process, as it may replace the visual observation by the automatic analysis of pictures taken to cows in controlled environments. Experimental results show that the segmentations obtained with this method are highly satisfactory and they allow a precise classification of the images with low computational complexity.  相似文献
