On the structure of the hadronic neutral current

The coupling constants of the hadronic neutral current are determined independently of any gauge models. Essentially two solutions emerge from this analysis: either the isovector neutral current is predominantly vector and the isoscalar component predominantly axial-vector or vice versa.     

Measurement of isotope ratios in solids by glow discharge mass spectrometry

A commercial thermion mass spectrometer has been modified for glow discharge mass spectrometry. GDMS isotope ratio measurements on osmium, uranium, and boron containing samples are compared with TIMS measurements.     

The Critical Screening and Assessment of Scientific Results without Loss of Information—Possible or Not?

The critical assessment of information as a means of screening and selecting scientific results, leading to a procedure for condensing the flood of data from the primary literature into the secondary literature, is reviewed (here, exemplified for organic chemistry). The criteria for critical assessment without loss of content, developed and tested by the Beilstein Institute on the basis of a hundred years' experience, are presented. The possible extent to which data can thus be reduced is demonstrated for a number of examples.     

A modified reduced gradient method for dual posynomial programming

In this paper, we present a method for solving the dual of a posynomial geometric program based on modifications of the reduced gradient method. The modifications are necessary because of the numerical difficulties associated with the nondifferentiability of the dual objective function. Some preliminary numerical results are included that compare the proposed method with the modified concave simplex method of Beck and Ecker of Ref. 1.This research was supported in part by the National Science Foundation, Grant No. MCS75-09443-A01.The authors sincerely thank P. Probing the stereoselectivity of P-glycoprotein-synthesis, biological activity and ligand docking studies of a set of enantiopure benzopyrano[3,4-b][1,4]oxazines

A series of enantiomerically pure benzopyrano[3,4-b][1,4]oxazines have been synthesised and tested for their ability to inhibit P-glycoprotein. Reducing the conformational flexibility of the molecules leads to remarkable differences in the activity of diastereoisomers. Docking studies into a homology model of human P-gp provide first insights into potential binding areas for these compounds.
