Examples of Para-cocyclic Objects Induced by BD-Laws

In a recent paper (Böhm and Stefan, Commun Math Phys 282:239–286, 2008), we gave a general construction of a para-cocyclic structure on a cosimplex, associated to a so called admissible septuple—consisting of two categories, three functors and two natural transformations, subject to compatibility relations. The main examples of such admissible septuples were induced by algebra homomorphisms. In this note we provide more general examples coming from appropriate (‘locally braided’) morphisms of monads.     

Cyclometallated gold(III) hydroxides as versatile synthons for Au-N, Au-C complexes and luminescent compounds

The gold(III) hydroxide κ(3)-(C^N^C)*Au(OH) reacts with C-H and N-H compounds and arylboronic acids to produce a range of perfluoroaryls, N-heterocyclic and alkynyl compounds in high yields; some of which show unexpectedly strong modulation of their photoluminescence from yellow to blue [(C^N^C)* = 2,6-(C(6)H(3)Bu(t))(2)pyridine].     

Parallel synthesis of 2-substituted 6-(5-oxo-1-phenylpyrrolidin-3-yl)pyrimidine-5-carboxamides

A library of 24 6-(5-oxo-1-phenylpyrrolidin-3-yl)pyrimidine-5-carboxamides 10{1,2; 1-12} was prepared by a parallel solution-phase approach. The synthesis comprises a five-step transformation of itaconic acid (11) into 1-methyl and 1-phenyl substituted 6-(5-oxo-1-phenylpyrrolidin-3-yl)pyrimidine-5-carboxylic acids 17{1,2} followed by parallel amidation of 17{1,2} with a series of 12 aliphatic amines 18{1-12} to afford the corresponding carboxamides 10 in good overall yields and in 80-100% purity.     

Hochschild Cohomology and the Coradical Filtration of Pointed Coalgebras: Applications

In this paper we show that there is a close connection between the coradical filtration of a pointed coalgebra and the Hochschild cohomology of that coalgebra with coefficients in some one-dimensional bicomodules. As an application, for a given prime numberpand an algebraically closed fieldkof characteristic 0, we classify all pointed Hopf algebras of dimensionp³overk.     

Thermo-oxidative degradation of some elastomers with a high content of 3,4 isoprene units

New elastomers with high content of 3,4 isoprene units have been developed during the last decades in an attempt to ensure superior performances of the final products and the present study is devoted to the investigation of some peculiarities of their ageing behaviour. On thermo-oxidative degradation, 3,4 isoprene units are less affected in comparison to cis-1, 4 and trans-1, 4 isoprene units. The degradation process consists mainly in splitting of the main chains at temperatures of 80–100 °C while at higher temperatures (120–130 °C) branching becomes a significant modification and this reaction is enhanced for the polymers containing preponderantly 3,4 units. Such behaviour leads to the fact that the processability of polymers containing high amounts of 1,2 and 1,3 isoprene units is less affected by thermo-oxidative degradation in comparison with cis-1, 4-polyisoprene, which could be explained by the fact that large amounts of double bonds are not present in the backbone of macromolecules but in the pendent groups.     

Analysis of Biogenic Amines Using Immunoassays,HPLC, and a Newly Developed IC-MS/MS Technique in Fish Products—A Comparative Study

In this study, comparative analyses were carried out with ion chromatography mass-spectrometry (IC-MS/MS) which has no derivatization step, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technique, as well as two quantitative and two semi-quantitative immunoassays. The results demonstrated that HPLC and quantitative immunoassay methods were well-correlated with IC-MS/MS in determining histamine in various types of fish products. The best correlation was observed with the HistaSure ELISA Fast Track kit (R² = 0.9903). More than half of the values (68%) obtained by two methods were also statistically similar. The results of semi-quantitative test kits also supported histamine values estimated by quantitative methods, with some exceptions. The best results were found for HistaSure Lateral Flow in supporting the quantitative techniques. Therefore, these methods are found suitable for monitoring histamine in fish products in terms of food safety. Good correlations were also observed HPLC and IC-MS/MS in determining cadaverine, putrescine, and tyramine with the highest value observed for tyramine as R² = 0.9785. However, no correlation was observed for other biogenic amines, and the majority of the results were significantly different from each other for these amines (p < 0.05). The differences may be caused by the drawbacks reported previously for HPLC. However, further studies are required to confirm the possible effects. This study provides a comparative evaluation of several methods in terms of their suitability in determining biogenic amines in fish products for both monitoring and regulatory purposes.     

Effects of Coumarinyl Schiff Bases against Phytopathogenic Fungi,the Soil-Beneficial Bacteria and Entomopathogenic Nematodes: Deeper Insight into the Mechanism of Action

Coumarin derivatives have been reported as strong antifungal agents against various phytopathogenic fungi. In this study, inhibitory effects of nine coumarinyl Schiff bases were evaluated against the plant pathogenic fungi (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici, Fusarium culmorum, Macrophomina phaseolina and Sclerotinia sclerotiourum). The compounds were demonstrated to be efficient antifungal agents against Macrophomina phaseolina. The results of molecular docking on the six enzymes related to the antifungal activity suggested that the tested compounds act against plant pathogenic fungi, inhibiting plant cell-wall-degrading enzymes such as endoglucanase I and pectinase. Neither compound exhibited inhibitory effects against two beneficial bacteria (Bacillus mycoides and Bradyrhizobium japonicum) and two entomopathogenic nematodes. However, compound 9 was lethal (46.25%) for nematode Heterorhabditis bacteriophora and showed an inhibitory effect against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) (31.45%), confirming the relationship between these two activities. Calculated toxicity and the pesticide-likeness study showed that compound 9 was the least lipophilic compound with the highest aquatic toxicity. A molecular docking study showed that compounds 9 and 8 bind directly to the active site of AChE. Coumarinyl Schiff bases are promising active components of plant protection products, safe for the environment, human health, and nontarget organisms.     

Some results for operators on a model space

We investigate some problems for truncated Toeplitz operators. Namely, the solvability of the Riccati operator equation on the set of all truncated Toeplitz operators on the model space K _θ = H²ΘθH² is studied. We study in terms of Berezin symbols invertibility of model operators. We also prove some results for the Berezin number of the truncated Toeplitz operators. Moreover, we study some property for H²-functions in terms of noncyclicity of co-analytic Toeplitz operators and hypercyclicity of model operators.
