An explicit example of a tumbling gauge theory

We present a class of two-dimensional models with a non-abelian gauge symmetry. In one model with gauge symmetry is dynamically broken by a fermion bilinear condensate in a $\text{1}\text{n}$ expansion. We discuss the differences between a dynamical and elementary Higgs mechanism due to the presence of a non-abelian axial anomaly.     

Determination of the angular and energy dependence of hard constituent scattering from π0 pair events at the CERN intersecting storage rings

We present data on proton-proton collisions, obtained at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings, in which two roughly back-to-back π⁰'s of high transverse momentum (p_T) were produced. The angular distribution of the dipion axis relative to the collision axis is found to be independent of both the effective mass m of the dipion system and the centre-of-mass energy √s of the proton-proton collision. The cross-sections $\text{d}\text{σ}\text{d}\text{m}$ at the values of √s satisfy a scaling law of the form $\text{d}\text{σ}\text{d}\text{m}\text{=}\text{G(x)}\text{m}{}^{\mathrm{n}}\text{,}\text{where}\text{x = m(π}{}^0\text{, π}{}^0\text{)//trs}\text{and}\text{n = 6.5 ± 0.5}$. We show from our data that the leading π⁰ carries most of the momentum of the scattered parton. Given this fact, the axis of the dipion system follows closely the direction of the scattered constituents, and we exploit this to determine the angular dependence of the hard-scattering subprocess. We also compare our data with the lowest order QCD predictions using structure functions as determined in deep-inelastic scattering and fragmentation functions from electron-positron annihilation.

Two-particle rapidity correlations in proton-nucleus interactions at 300 GeV

The single- and two-particle inclusive rapidity distributions for proton-nucleus interactions at 300 GeV in nuclear emulsions are presented. The analysis of the data with the two-particle rapidity correlation function R(ν₁, ν₂) shows clear evidence of short range correlations. A remarkable asymmetry between projectile and target hemisphere is found.     

Inclusiveπ° production in 360 GeVpp interactions using the european hybrid spectrometer

The intermediate and forward gamma detectors of EHS are used to reconstructπ°'s produced by 360 GeV/cpp interactions in the Rapid Cycling Bubble Chamber (RCBC). Using thepp forwardbackward symmetry, the inclusiveπ° production cross section is obtainedσ _π°=(132±11) mb. The averageπ° multiplicity is determined as a function of the charged particle multiplicity. The (1?x) dependence is given for differentp _T regions.     

A measurement of single electrons,electron pairs,and associated phenomena,in proton-proton collisions at the CERN ISR

Measurements of single-electron production in proton-proton collisions at the CERN ISR are presented for five centre-of-mass energies √s = 23.5, 30.6, 44.8, 52.7, and 62.4 GeV. The invariant cross sections for single electrons with transverse momenta of 0.60 to 4.7 GeV/c are given. Measurements of electron-positron pairs and measurements of charged hadrons produced in association with the single electrons, are also reported.
