Hydrodynamics of an expanding fireball

A set of relativistic hydrodynamic equations is solved numerically on the basis of the flux-corrected SHASTA method for one-, two-, and three-dimensional geometries. The accuracy of the proposed method is demonstrated via a comparison with exact analytic solutions for the one-dimensional Riemann problem and a boost-invariant longitudinal expansion in the Bjorken model. The example of an expanding three-dimensional fireball for which initial conditions approximately correspond to PbPb collisions at an energy of about 160 GeV per nucleon is considered. This example indicates that the presumed dynamics of the expansion may affect substantially the results of an analysis of in-medium properties of hadrons that relies on data from experiments with leptons.     

Behavior of the intensity of galactic and anomalous cosmic rays in the outer heliosphere and large-scale electric fields

The behavior of the intensity of anomalous and galactic cosmic rays in the outer heliosphere is compared. The previous hypothesis, according to which the lowest energy galactic cosmic rays affected by large-scale electric fields far beyond the termination shock wave of the solar wind may contribute to the behavior of the anomalous component intensity, is analyzed.     

An interrogator for a fiber Bragg sensor array based on a tunable erbium fiber laser

An interrogator of Bragg sensors based on a narrow-band tunable erbium laser is developed. The laser characteristics enable one to interrogate up to 45 temperature sensors in a range of 100°C with an error of no greater than 1°C.     

Plasmaneutrino spectrum

The spectrum of the neutrinos produced in the massive photon and longitudinal plasmon decay process has been computed with four levels of approximation for the dispersion relations. Some analytical formulae in the limit cases are derived. Interesting conclusions related to previous calculations of the energy loss in stars are presented. The high energy tail of the neutrino spectrum is shown to be proportional to exp(-E/kT), where E is the neutrino energy and kT is the temperature of the plasma. The break of L-S coupling and the double Stark resonance in the spectrum of 36P → 37P two-photon transition in Rydberg atoms of sodium

New results are presented of an experimental investigation of the spectrum of 36P → 37P two-photon microwave transition in Rydberg atoms of sodium in a constant electric field. Depending on the conditions of excitation of the initial 36P state (the constant electric field is switched on either before or after the exciting laser pulse) and polarization of laser radiation, a strong variation is observed of the amplitudes of individual two-photon transitions between the fine-structure Stark components of the 36P and 37P states. This effect is an analog of the Paschen-Back effect in a strong magnetic field and is due to the break of L-S coupling and to the variation of the wave functions of Rydberg electrons in an electric field. It is also found that the break of L-S coupling affects considerably the shape of double Stark resonance arising upon intersection of the virtual intermediate level of two-photon transition with the real intermediate 37S level.     

On multiple integrals represented as a linear form in 1, ζ(3), ζ(5),..., ζ(2<Emphasis Type="Italic">k</Emphasis> − 1)

A theorem on the presentability of a multiple integral as a linear form in 1, ζ(3), ζ(5),..., ζ(2k − 1) over ℚ is proved. This theorem refines the results recently obtained by D. Vasiliev, V. Weighted estimates of a solution to the linear problem connected with the one-phase Stefan problem in the case where the specific heat tends to zero

We prove estimates in weighted Hölder norms for a solution to the model linear problem related with the one-phase Stefan problem with a small multiplier ε at time derivative in the heat equation. These estimates are uniform with respect to parameter ε and are significant in justification of passage to the limit in the one-phase Stefan problem as the specific heat tends to zero.
