We studied the mechanism of adhesion between N2 plasma treated polypropylene (PP/N2) backing and a hybrid hydrogel (HG) produced by chemical crosslinking between poly(ethylene glycol) and soy albumin. The work of adhesion, measured by peel testing, was found to be 25 times higher for PP/N2 compared to untreated PP (≈5.0 J/m2 versus ≈0.2 J/m2). In order to understand the adhesion mechanism, we performed a detailed analysis of the surface chemical composition of PP and PP/N2 using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), chemical derivatization and attenuated total reflectance infra-red (ATR-IR) measurements. The results confirm incorporation of different nitrogen- (amine, amide,…) and oxygen- (hydroxyl, carboxyl,…) containing chemical groups on the PP/N2 surface. The derivatized functions were primary amine, hydroxyl, carboxyl and carbonyl groups. Chemical derivatization reactions validated the XPS results (except for carbonyl groups), and they clearly underlined the essential role of primary amine groups in the adhesion process. In fact, after derivatization of the amine functions, the work of adhesion was found to be 0.41 ± 0.12 J/m2. Participation of amine groups in the formation of covalent bonds at the interface between PP/N2 and HG was directly confirmed by ATR-IR measurements. 相似文献

An Er:Yb codoped fiber amplifier chain for the generation of pulses for coherent lidar applications at a wavelength near 1.5 microm is reported. The final 1.8-m-long power amplification stage had a 50-microm core diameter and yielded a 23-dB energy gain, resulting in 0.29-mJ, 100-ns pulses at a repetition rate of 4 kHz with no Brillouin scattering and an M2 of 2.1. 相似文献

We present a 5D gauge theory in warped space based on a bulk SU(2)L x SU(2)R x U(1)(B-L) gauge group where the gauge symmetry is broken by boundary conditions. The symmetry breaking pattern and the mass spectrum resemble that in the standard model (SM). To leading order in the warp factor the rho parameter and the coupling of the Z (S parameter) are as in the SM, while corrections are expected at the level of a percent. From the anti-de Sitter (AdS) conformal field theory point of view the model presented here can be viewed as the AdS dual of a (walking) technicolorlike theory, in the sense that it is the presence of the IR brane itself that breaks electroweak symmetry, and not a localized Higgs on the IR brane (which should be interpreted as a composite Higgs model). This model predicts the lightest W, Z, and gamma resonances to be at around 1.2 TeV, and no fundamental (or composite) Higgs particles. 相似文献

The fundamental asymptotic nature of parabolic similariton pulses in normal-dispersion fiber amplifiers is experimentally demonstrated. With frequency-resolved optical gating characterization measurements with a fixed input pulse energy, the output parabolic pulse characteristics are shown to be invariant with the input pulse profile and duration and to be completely determined only by the amplifier parameters. 相似文献

We report the first observation of a stick-slip transition of surfactant solution flow through nanopores. From the experimental data, we were able to determine both the slip length and the critical wall shear stress from which slip occurs. Whereas the latter is found to increase linearly with the concentration, the former remains constant and approximately equal to 20 nm over the studied range of concentrations. We model slip to occur in the surfactant bilayer adsorbed at the nanopore wall. The stick-slip transition is then related to a reorganization of the surfactant bilayer from an entangled structure into independent layers flowing past one another, as evidenced by independent surface plasmon resonance experiments. We conclude from our analysis that surfactant solutions are always slipping in larger tubes. However, the larger the tube diameter, the smaller the relative slip contribution to the total flow. 相似文献

We study sound propagation in a triangular lattice of spherical beads under isotropic stress. Polydispersity of real beads breaks some contacts, creating a disordered lattice of contacting beads. At large stress, the sound velocity behaves according to Hertz contact law and departs from it at lower stress. This evolution is reversible, with the same crossover when increasing or decreasing the stress, for a given piling. Correlations are much more sensitive to disorder. When calculated with signals propagated in the same lattice, they evolve reversibly with the stress, being much higher at large stress when the contact lattice is more regular. This leads to an interpretation of the non-Hertzian behavior in terms of progressive activation of contacts, in discrepancy with previous models involving buckling of force chains. 相似文献

Shift multiplexing is a holographic recording method that uses a spherical reference wave. We extend the principle to a thin slab of holographic material that acts as a waveguide. Total internal reflection folds the reference spherical beam in one dimension. We demonstrate that the shift selectivity with the folded spherical beam is independent of the slab thickness but depends instead on the numerical aperture of the coupled spherical wave. A shift selectivity of 0.5 microm has been achieved with a 1-mm-thick LiNbO3 crystal and 50 high-definition data pages are recorded with this method. 相似文献
