Phase-dependent properties for absorption and dispersion in a closed equispaced three-level ladder system

It is shown that in a closed equispaced three-level ladder system, by controlling the relative phase of two applied coherent fields, the conversion from absorption with inversion to lasing without inversion (LWI) can be realized; a large index of the refraction with zero absorption can be gotten; considerable increasing of the spectrum region and value of the LWI gain can be achieved. Our study also reveals that the incoherent pumping will produce a remarkable effect on the phase-dependent properties of the system. Modifying value of the incoherent pumping can change the property of the system from absorption to amplification and enhance significantly LWI gain. If the incoherent pumping is absent, we cannot get any gain for any value of the relative phase.

Ionization of hydrogen and deuterium atoms in thermal energy collisions with state-selected Ne(3s 3 P 2,3 P 0) metastable atoms

High resolution energy spectra of electrons and ions resulting from thermal energy collisions of hydrogen and deuterium atoms with state-selected metastable Ne(Ne(3s ³ P ₂,³ P ₀) atoms are reported. The electron spectra for Ne(³ P ₂)+H(D) are very broad: The high energy part due to formation of NeH⁺ (NeD⁺) bound states (associative ionization), amounts to about 30% of the ionizing events, whereas the dominant part of the spectrum including a prominent low-energy peak is due to Penning ionization out of a strongly-attractive entrance potential curve. Comparison of the spectra with quantum mechanical fit calculations yields fairly accurate information on this potential, in particular its well depthD _e [Ne(³ P ₂)?H,D]= 2.0(1) eV. The spectra for Ne(³ P ₀)+H, D are comparatively narrow with much lower cross sections than the one for the Ne(³ P ₂) state. The corresponding entrance channel is a weakly bound van der Waals molecule with a well depth below 0.1 eV. A perturbation calculation of the Ne(3s)+H(1s) potential energy curves at large distances explains the observed difference between the Ne(³ P ₂)+H(D) and Ne(³ P ₀)+H(D) systems. Symmetry arguments are given that the major contribution to the Ne(³ P ₂)+H(D) spectra is due to the² Σ potential.

On the lattice of n-filters of an LM n -algebra

For an n-valued Łukasiewicz-Moisil algebra L (or LM _n -algebra for short) we denote by F _n (L) the lattice of all n-filters of L. The goal of this paper is to study the lattice F _n (L) and to give new characterizations for the meet-irreducible and completely meet-irreducible elements on F _n (L).      

Polyoxometalate-based vesicle and its honeycomb architectures on solid surfaces

The introduction of cationic surfactant DODA as counterions of [Eu(H2O)2SiW11O39]5- can form a mesoscopic supramolecular assembly of (DODA)4H[Eu(H2O)2SiW11O39], which aggregates into vesicles in chloroform. This POM-based vesicle can be further transferred into three-dimensional microporous architectures under moist air. The present methodology shows that, by combining inorganic chemistry and colloidal surface chemistry, a sequential self-assembling approach based on a series of linkable preorganized building blocks allows access to the fabrication of technological applicably POM-based microsized patterns, alternated with the soft lithographic method.     

A novel high-spin heterometallic Ni12K4 cluster incorporating large Ni-azide circles and an in situ cyanomethylated di-2-pyridyl ketone

Reaction of di-2-pyridyl ketone (dpk) with nickel acetate and azide in the presence of potassium tert-butylate as a catalytic base generates the title compound, which contains the largest [Ni(mu(1,1)-N3)]6 circles in the discrete ferromagnetically-coupled M(II)-azide cluster family, and shows an unprecedented in situ cyanomethylation of ketone.     

Sums of Bisectorial Operators and Applications
