Starting from two cubic pieces of a MgO crystal ((3 x 3 x 3) and (5 x 5 x 5)), both containing a central oxygen atom, two clusters are simulated with the help of a DFT-LDA method. These clusters are charged in order to be equivalent to pieces of a neutral crystal. In each cluster, a neutral vacancy analogous to a F center is created by removing the central oxygen atom. Then, F + and F + + centers are simulated by removing one and two electrons. The main differences and similarities between the two sizes of clusters are studied: geometries, Mulliken charges, electronic distributions, gaps, ionisation potentials. We discuss the Coulomb fragmentation of highly charged metal clusters. The analogy with a classical conducting liquid drop is assessed from molecular dynamics calculations. Experimentally, the highly charged metal clusters are formed in collisions with highly charged ions (Xe20+, Ar11+, Ar8+, Ar3+, and O5+) at low velocity. We show new experimental data on the rate of emitted light charged particles that indicate an as yet unobserved fragmentation regime. Collisions of ions with metal clusters also offer a unique method to strongly excite the conducting electron gas within a short time of a few fs opening the possibility to study large amplitude electron dynamics and relaxation in microscopic systems.  相似文献

The need for novel packing materials in both capillary electrochromatography (CEC) and capillary liquid chromatography (CLC) is apparent and the development towards more selective, application-oriented chromatographic phases is under progress world-wide. In this study we have synthesized new polyethyleneimine (PEI) functionalized Mn(2)O(3), SiO(2), SnO(2), and ZrO(2) particles for the fabrication of packed capillary columns for CEC and CLC. The nanocasting approach was successful for the preparation of functionalized metal oxide materials with a controlled porosity and morphology. PEI functionalization was done using ethyleneimine monomers to create particles which are positively charged in aqueous solution below pH 9. This functionalization allowed the possibility to have both hydrophobic (due to its alkyl chain) and ionic interactions (due to positively charged amino groups) with selected compounds. For comparison aminopropyl-functionalized silica was also synthesized and tested. Both slurry pressure and electrokinetic packing procedures used gave similar results, but fast sedimentation of the material caused some problems during the packing. The high stability and wide pH range of PEI-functionalized SiO(2) material, with potential for hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions, proved to be useful for the CEC and CLC separation of some model acidic and neutral compounds.  相似文献

On the basis of our previous work on vinyl-triphenylamine derived DNA fluorophores we explored the structure space around this core by coupling it to diverse cationic, anionic and zwitterionic groups in the aim of targeting different classes of biomolecules. In parallel core modifications were performed to optimize the photophysical properties (quantum yield, two-photon absorption). The resulting water soluble π-conjugated molecules are called TP dyes and display an exceptional combination of optical properties: high two-photon absorption cross-section, high photostability, no self-quenching, and switchable fluorescence emission when bound to a biopolymer matrix. The linear and nonlinear optical properties of the TP dyes were studied in vitro in presence of DNA and in presence of a model protein (human serum albumin) using complementary absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy characterization tools. Structure modifications enabled to switch from DNA probes (cationic TP-pyridinium series) to protein probes (anionic TP-rhodanine series) without affecting the optical properties. Finally most TP compounds appear cell-permeant and show an intracellular localization consistent with their in vitro target specificity.  相似文献

Further study of the methanol extract of the stem bark of Allanblackia monticola STANER L.C. resulted in the isolation of a new prenylated xanthenedione, designated allanxanthone C, together with the five known xanthones, garciniafuran, tovophyllin A, rubraxanthone, norcowanin and mangostin and one saponin, stigmasterol-3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside. The structure of the new compound was established by detailed spectroscopic analysis to be 1,2-dihydro-3,6,8-trihydroxy-1,1,7-tri(3-methylbut-2-enyl)xanthen-2,9-dione (3-hydroxyapetalinone C). The methanol extract and pure compounds were tested on two strains of Plasmodium falciparum, F32 (chloroquine sensitive) and FcM29 (chloroquine resistant). The IC50 values obtained ranged from 0.6 to 8.9 microg/ml. Their cytotoxicity was estimated on human melanoma cells (A375) and the cytotoxicity/antiplasmodial ratio was found to be between 15.45 and 30.46. The antimicrobial activities against a range of microorganisms of the crude extract and some of these compounds are also reported.  相似文献
