On p-Extensions of Fields of Characteristic p

It is proved that a Galois extension of a field of characteristic p is completely determined by its Galois group and the endomorphism of the additive group of the group algebra that corresponds to the raising to the power p.     

Generalized Artin–Hasse and Iwasawa Formulas for the Hilbert Symbol in a High-Dimensional Local Field

The generalized Hilbert symbol in a cyclotomic extension of an absolutely unramified higher local field of characteristic 0 with a perfect last residue field of characteristic p > 2 is considered. Generalized Artin–Hasse and Iwasawa formulas are derived from an explicit Kummer Type Vostokov formula. Bibliography: 13 titles.     

Projective varieties with projectively equivalent singular 0-dimensional sections

Fix integers m, n such that 1 ≤ m ≤ n ? 3. Let X ? Pⁿ be an integral non-degenerate m-dimensional variety. Assume either char(K) = 0 or char(K) > deg(X). Here we prove that all general 0-dimensional sections of X containing a tangent vector to a smooth point of X are protectively equivalent if and only if n ? m + 1 ≤ deg(X) ≤ n ? m + 2.     

Multipulse regimes of excitation of optical superradiance due to a two-photon transition

Multimode triggered optical superradiance due to a two-photon transition is theoretically studied. Kinetic equations are derived for the dynamics of cooperative development of coherence and population inversion of optical centers interacting with each other through a common field of emitted photons. Various regimes of triggering of optical superradiance due to a two-photon transition are considered. The possibility of creating a quantum photomultiplier on the basis of the triggered optical superradiance is discussed.

Optimal Control of Distributions

The article develops the principles of optimal control theory for probability distributions on the configuration space of a controlled dynamical system. Necessary conditions of optimality are derived in the form of the Pontryagin principle for various classes of problems. Analytical representations in the space of distributions and observables are considered. Special modes are examined. The relationship between distribution control theory and nonlocal optimization problems is demonstrated.     

Lubin–Tate Formal Groups over the Ring of Integers of a Multidimensional Local Field

Some isomorphism criteria for Lubin–Tate formal groups over the ring of integers of a multidimensional local field are given. Bibliography: 4 titles.     

Embedding of Nonprimary Subgroups in the Symmetric Group S 9

The nonprimary subgroups of the symmetric group S ₉ are investigated. Embedding properties of these subgroups are listed in a table. Properties such as abnormality, pronormality, paranormality, weak normality, etc. were checked with the help of a computer. Algorithms and codes of the first author were used for this purpose. The research leans upon the technique of Burnside marks, as well as upon pertinent information on the table of marks of S ₉ from the computer algebra package GAP. The subgroups were investigated up to conjugacy; the total number of conjugacy classes of nonprimary subgroups of S ₉ is 432. Some subgroups were additionally checked by other programs based on the double coset method. Bibliography: 24 titles.     

On the Sum of Roots of a Closed Set

An invariant of a closed set that is equal to the sum of roots is introduced. For a closed subset in a root system, we describe symmetric and special parts and its stabilizer in the Weyl group by means of the sum of roots. We determine associated bases with respect to which the closed set has the simplest form. All possible values of the root sum are found. Bibliography: 9 titles.
