The phytochemical investigation of the methanol extract of the leaves of Castanea sativa Mill., source of the Italian PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) product ‘Marrone di Roccadaspide’ (Campania region) afforded as main compounds crenatin (1), chestanin (2), gallic acid (3), cretanin (4), 5-O-p-coumaroylquinic acid (5), p-methylgallic acid (6) and quercetin-3-O-glucoside (7). To quantify the isolated compounds a LC-ESI(QqQ)MS method working with a very sensitive and selective mass tandem experiment called Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM) has been developed. AbstractResearch in restoration and conservation is directed vs. more sustainable working materials, methods and technologies. Electrophoretic removal, from porous material, of undesired stains due to charged species is theoretically an interesting alternative to chemical cleaning methods, but the lack of specific and comprehensive research work leads to controversial opinions about the efficiency and the needed harmfulness for the treated objects. In this work paper, samples with artificial rust stains were subjected to electrophoretic cleaning treatments in mineral water as electrolyte. Treatments were carried out either in a bath by complete sample immersion between the distanced electrodes or by sample wetting and sandwiching between the electrodes. Evaluation of cleaning efficiency and treatment effects was based on colour change measurements (image analysis of scanned paper samples before and after the treatment and by colorimetric data via spectrophotometric measurements), investigation of morphological changes by SEM observations and folding endurance measurements. 相似文献

Milk is a complex heterogeneous fluid containing many components in several states of dispersion. When used as a bulk solvent for studying electrochemical processes of some of the electroactive species present, it displayed mainly aqueous solution properties. With microelectrodes (25 μm in diameter) some typical constituents can be detected and the reproducibility of the processes studied was found to be satisfactory, with relative standard deviations (r.s.d.s.) lower than 2%, whereas measurements with conventional-sized platinum electrode (3 mm in diameter) gave r.s.d.s, of about 10%. Moreover, because of enhanced mass transport associated with the smallest electrodes, it was possible to diagnose the formation of precipitates of calcium phosphates on the electrode surface, as a consequence of a CEC electrode process at ?0.920 V vs. SCE, involving protons released by H2PO?4, HPO2?4 formed in the electrode reaction and Ca2+. Linkage isomers of bis(bipyridine)(1,2-dihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinonato)ruthenium(II), 1,2- and 1,9-coordinated complexes, and several of their oxidation products have been prepared chemically and/or electrochemically. For the 1,2-coordinated complex, the one- and two-electron oxidized species have been characterized, and for the 1,9-coordinated complex, the one-electron oxidized species has been characterized. The rich redox activity of these complexes leads to ambiguity in assessing the electronic structure. This paper reports EPR spectra of odd-electron species and detailed analyses of electronic spectra and structure of the complexes, based on INDO molecular orbital calculations. Results of calculations on the related 1-hydroxyanthraquinone complex and the free ligands,1,2-dihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone (alizarin) and 1-hydroxyanthraquinone, are also briefly discussed. 相似文献

An analytical procedure for the simultaneous determination in human urine of several thioamphetamine designer drugs (2C‐T and ALEPH series) is reported. The quantitative analysis was performed by liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry and has been fully validated. The mass spectrometer was operated in positive‐ion, selected reaction monitoring (SRM) mode. In order to minimize interferences with matrix components and to preconcentrate target analytes, solid‐phase extraction was introduced in the method as a clean‐up step. The entire method was validated for selectivity, linearity, precision and accuracy. The method turned out to be specific, sensitive, and reliable for the analysis of amphetamine derivatives in urine samples. The calibration curves were linear over the concentration range of 1 to 100 ng mL?1 for all drugs with correlation coefficients that exceeded 0.996. The lower limits of detection (LODs) and quantification (LOQs) ranged from 1.2 to 4.9 ng mL?1 and from 3.2 to 9.6 ng mL?1, respectively. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

Human skin is colonized by diverse commensal microbes, making up the skin microbiota (SM), contributing to skin integrity and homeostasis. Many of the beneficial effects aroused by the SM are exerted by microbial metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), including butyric acid. The SCFAs can be used in cosmetic formulations against skin diseases to protect SM by preserving and/or restoring their natural balance. Unpleasant sensorial properties and unfavorable physico-chemical properties of butyrate strongly limit its cosmetic use. In contrast, some butyrate derivatives, including phenylalanine butyramide (C13H18N2O2, FBA), a solid form of butyric acid, are odorless while retaining the pharmacokinetic properties and safety profile of butyric acid. This study assessed the FBA’s permeation across the skin and its soothing and anti-reddening potential to estimate its cosmetic application. The dosage method used to estimate FBA’s levels was validated to be sure of analytical results. The FBA diffusion tests were estimated in vitro using a Franz-type vertical diffusion cell. The soothing action was evaluated in vivo by Colorimeter CL400, measuring the erythema index. The results suggest that the FBA represents an innovative way to exploit the benefits of butyric acid in the cosmetic fields since it cannot reach the bloodstream, is odorless, and has a significative soothing action (decrease the erythema index −15.7% after 30′, and −17.8% after 60′). 相似文献

The nutrients and their potential benefits are a new field of study in modern medicine for their positive impact on health. Curcumin, the yellow polyphenolic compound extracted from Curcuma longa species, is widely used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine to prevent and contrast many diseases, considering its antioxidant, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, cardio-protective, nephron-protective, hepato-protective, anti-neoplastic, and anti-rheumatic proprieties. In recent years, the investigations of curcumin have been focused on its application to aging and age-associated diseases. Aging is a physiological process in which there is a decreasing of cellular function due to internal or external stimuli. Oxidative stress is one of the most important causes of aging and age-related diseases. Moreover, many age-related disorders such as cancer, neuroinflammation, and infections are due to a low-grade chronic systemic inflammation. Curcumin acting on different proteins is able to contrast both oxidative stress than inflammation. In the brain, curcumin is able to modulate inflammation induced by microglia. Finally in brain tumors curcumin is able to reduce tumor growth by inhibition of telomerase activity. This review emphasizes the anti-aging role of curcumin focusing on its mechanism to counteract aging in the brain. Moreover, new formulations to increase the bioavailability of curcumin are discussed. 相似文献
