Poly(mandelic acid) (PMA) is an aryl analogue of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and a biodegradable analogue of polystyrene. The preparation of stereoregular PMA was realized using a pyridine/mandelic acid adduct (Py?MA) as an organocatalyst for the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of the cyclic O‐carboxyanhydride (manOCA). Polymers with a narrow polydispersity index and excellent molecular‐weight control were prepared at ambient temperature. These highly isotactic chiral polymers exhibit an enhancement of the glass‐transition temperature (Tg) of 15 °C compared to the racemic polymer, suggesting potential future application as high‐performance commodity and biomedical materials. 相似文献

Radical ring-opening polymerization (rROP) of cyclic ketene acetals (CKAs) combines the advantages of both ring-opening polymerization and radical polymerization thereby allowing the robust production of polyesters coupled with the mild polymerization conditions of a radical process. rROP was recently rejuvenated by the possibility to copolymerize CKAs with classic vinyl monomers leading to the insertion of cleavable functionality into a vinyl-based copolymer backbone and thus imparting (bio)degradability. Such materials are suitable for a large scope of applications, particularly within the biomedical field. The competition between the ring-opening and ring-retaining propagation routes is a major complication in the development of efficient CKA monomers, ultimately leading to the use of only four monomers that are known to completely ring-open under all experimental conditions. In this article we investigate the radical ring-opening polymerization of model CKA monomers and demonstrate by the combination of DFT calculations and kinetic modeling using PREDICI software that we are now able to predict in silico the ring-opening ability of CKA monomers. 相似文献

There is an urgent need to develop new therapeutic strategies to fight the emergence of multidrug resistant bacteria. Many antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have been identified and characterized, but clinical translation has been limited partly due to their structural instability and degradability in physiological environments. The use of unnatural backbones leading to foldamers can generate peptidomimetics with improved properties and conformational stability. We recently reported the successful design of urea-based eukaryotic cell-penetrating foldamers (CPFs). Since cell-penetrating peptides and AMPs generally share many common features, we prepared new sequences derived from CPFs by varying the distribution of histidine- and arginine-type residues at the surface of the oligourea helix, and evaluated their activity on both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as well as on fungi. In addition, we prepared and tested new amphiphilic block cofoldamers consisting of an oligourea and a peptide segment whereby polar and charged residues are located in the peptide segment and more hydrophobic residues in the oligourea segment. Several foldamer sequences were found to display potent antibacterial activities even in the presence of 50% serum. Importantly, we show that these urea-based foldamers also possess promising antifungal properties. 相似文献

Attenuated total reflection Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) can be successfully used for the quantitative determination of small amounts of pollutants like the organic fraction of aerosols. The relation between sample concentration and reflectance is described by the Kubelka-Munk equation and was found to be linearly proportional to the absorption band of some functional group. Several parameters like the matter of solid matrix, the cleaning of the sampling support, the treatment of reflectance spectra and the base line correction considerably influenced the reflectance spectra and facilitated data interpretations. The feasibility of the ATR-FTIR was evaluated by the monitoring of specific organic group bands on filters collected in the French cities of Grenoble and Clermont-Ferrand. We have obtained for hydroxyl group a calibration curve by plotting the relative intensity of reflectance versus the concentration. The linearity was obtained for OH from 1 × 10−1 to 1 × 100 mol L−1 with r2 = 0.9959. We can consider that for a direct measurement of the intensity of reflectance, it is possible to perform quantitative ATR-FTIR organic group analysis. 相似文献

Oxygen adsorption experiments were performed on evacuated and prereduced CeO2/SiO2 and CeO2/Al2O3 catalysts with and without platinum. Considerable amounts of the superoxide radical ions were stabilized on all the samples. Signal parameters suggest Ce4+–O2− positioning for all detectable superoxide species. Physisorbed oxygen broadens O2− signal beyond detection for all the alumina-based samples, while the same procedure for all the silica-based samples did not change signal shape of O2− species. Detectable O2− species are localized in the bulk of ceria and the nature of support (silica or alumina) determines the number of oxygen vacancies and the rate of electron transfer. XRD data suggest that for alumina-based samples small and/or thin islands of ceria dominate, while comparatively large ceria particles are stabilized on the surface of silica-based samples with the same ceria content. Average size of ceria crystallites is still not determining factor and cannot account for the observed differences. Higher concentrations of paramagnetic species may be stabilized on alumina-based samples and thus, sensor-like behavior towards gaseous oxygen at room temperature was detected for them—oxygen admission reversibly changes superoxide lineshape. For silica samples, only minor changes of O2− lineshapes were typical upon the change of the partial pressure of oxygen at ambient and low temperatures. Addition of platinum has little effect on parameters of the O2− signal, except an enhancement of the superoxide decay in the reducing media. Possible site for O2− stabilization inside the lattice of CeO2 was proposed and relevance of the observed effects to the redox catalysis discussed. 相似文献

Our objective, here, is to generalize our earlier results on the existence of classical convex solution to a free boundary problem with a Bernoulli-type boundary gradient condition and with the -Laplacian as the governing operator. The main theorems of this paper assert that the exterior and the interior free boundary problem with a Bernoulli law, i.e. with a prescribed pressure on the ``free' streamline of the flow, have convex solutions provided the initial domains are convex. The continuous function is subject to certain convexity properties. In our earlier results we have considered the case of constant . In the lines of the proof of the main results we also prove the semi-continuity (up to the boundary) of the gradient of the -capacitary potentials in convex rings, with boundaries.
