Here, we show that porous polymeric membranes can be prepared using the principles of offset printing: an offset printing plate is structured into hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions with the help of photolithography and is selectively wetted with a solution of calcium chloride in water at the hydrophilic regions. Then, a polymer solution (poly(methyl methacrylate) in chloroform) is applied to this surface and forms a hydrophobic layer that is structured by the aqueous droplets. Deviating from standard offset printing, this layer is not transferred to another surface in its liquid state but is solidified and subsequently is separated from the printing plate. The thickness of the polymer film is chosen in such a way that the aqueous droplets on the surface protrude from the film. Thus, we obtain polymer membranes with pores in the size of the protruding aqueous droplets. These membranes are then characterized by the filtration of model dispersions.  相似文献

Flat nano-island films prepared by wet-chemical deposition were investigated with attenuated total reflection infrared (ATR-IR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in order to analyze the correlation between film morphology and optical properties. Here we choose Au as representative coinage metal (Au, Ag, Cu) that shows strong structure-dependent surface-enhanced infrared absorption (SEIRA). Infrared spectra of octadecanethiol monolayers on films of different stages of morphologic development show effects that are characteristic for SEIRA, such as enhanced vibrational signals, Fano-type line shape, and adsorbate induced baseline shifts. Their extent was found to be strongly dependent on the structural details and the strongest enhancement occurs at the percolation threshold of the two-dimensional island system. Also films beyond percolation show significant enhancement due to residual nanoholes that are acting as hotspots.  相似文献

On exposure to UV‐B, the epidermal component trans‐urocanic acid (UCA) is not only photoisomerized into cis‐ UCA but will also, at least in part, be photooxidized into UCA oxidation products (UOPs). We hypothesized that UOPs can mimic UV‐induced systemic immunosuppression comparable to the suppressive properties already established for cis‐UCA. A crude mixture of UOPs showed a significant suppression of the sensitization phase of the systemic contact hypersensitivity (CHS) response to picryl chloride (PCI). Three of the UOPs were selected for this study: imidazole‐4‐carboxylic acid (ImCOOH), immidazole‐4‐carboxaldehyde (ImCHO) and imidazole‐4‐acetic acid (ImAc). Effects on the sensitization, elicitation and postelicitation phases of CHS to PCI in BALB/c mice were studied and compared with the effects of cis‐UCA. ImCHO was equally effective at suppressing the sensitization phase as cis‐UCA. The triplet combination of the imidazoles (1:1:1) showed more pronounced suppression than that induced by cis‐UCA. The most effective compounds for the suppression of the elicitation phase appeared to be ImAc and cis‐UCA. Significant suppression of the postelicitation phase was only obtained with the triplet combination of ImCHO, ImCOOH and ImAc, the combination that appeared to be effective at all three tested phases. Because these three UOPs are present in UV‐B‐exposed human stratum corvneum, these compounds may play a role in UV‐B‐induced immunosuppression.  相似文献

The reactivity of aryl‐substituted stannylenes, Ar2Sn ( 4 ), towards silylarenium borates, [R3SiArH][B(C6F5)4] ( 3 ), was investigated. The reaction with 2,3,4‐trimethyl‐6‐tert‐butylphenyl (mebp)‐substituted stannylene gave silyl‐substituted stannylium ions 2 a , b , which were characterized by NMR spectroscopy supported by the results of quantum‐mechanical computations of molecular structures and magnetic properties. The tri‐iso‐propylphenyl‐substituted stannylium ions 2 c , d undergo a decomposition reaction in toluene to give the dicationic tin–arene complex [Sn(C7H8)3]2+ ( 5 ) in the form of the [B(C6F5)4] salt in high yields. The 5 [B(C6F5)4]2 salt was identified by single crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis and by Mössbauer spectroscopy. The bonding situation was investigated by using natural bond orbital (NBO) and quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) calculations. The substitution of the weakly coordinating borate anion by the carboranate [CB11H6Br6]? results in replacement of the toluene ligands and formation of tin(II) carboranate with only weak Sn2+–anion interactions as suggested by the solid‐state structure of the isolated salt.  相似文献

Biosensors based on luminescent bacteria may be valuable tools to monitor the chemical quality and safety of surface and drinking water. In this review, an overview is presented of the recombinant strains available that harbour the bacterial luciferase genes luxCDABE, and which may be used in an online biosensor for water quality monitoring. Many bacterial strains have been described for the detection of a broad range of toxicity parameters, including DNA damage, protein damage, membrane damage, oxidative stress, organic pollutants, and heavy metals. Most lux strains have sensitivities with detection limits ranging from milligrams per litre to micrograms per litre, usually with higher sensitivities in compound-specific strains. Although the sensitivity of lux strains can be enhanced by various molecular manipulations, most reported detection thresholds are still too high to detect levels of individual contaminants as they occur nowadays in European drinking waters. However, lux strains sensing specific toxic effects have the advantage of being able to respond to mixtures of contaminants inducing the same effect, and thus could be used as a sensor for the sum effect, including the effect of compounds that are as yet not identified by chemical analysis. An evaluation of the suitability of lux strains for monitoring surface and drinking water is therefore provided.  相似文献

Urocanic acid (UCA) is a major UV-absorbing chromophore in the epidermis and has been suggested to act as one of the initiators of UV-induced immunosuppression. cis-UCA, the isomer from UCA that is formed upon UV exposure, has been shown to impair some cellular immune responses. cis-UCA levels were determined in a study in which the influence of ultraviolet B (UVB) exposure on immune responses after hepatitis B vaccination in human volunteers was established. A significant increase in cis-UCA levels was found in the skin of UVB-exposed volunteers compared with controls. cis-UCA levels, calculated as the percentage of the total UCA amount, in UVB-exposed volunteers correlated significantly with the cumulative UVB dose received in 5 consecutive days, i.e. the higher the UVB dose (J/m2), the higher the cis-UCA levels (until a cis-UCA plateau was reached in the so-called photostationary state). Correlations between skin cis-UCA levels and immune responses were determined, and they revealed no statistically significant correlations among lymphocyte proliferation responses after either mitogenic stimulation or stimulation with recall antigens. No correlation was found between cis-UCA levels and hepatitis B-specific antibody titers. However, we found a statistically significant negative correlation between cis-UCA levels and hepatitis B-specific lymphocyte proliferation responses when volunteers were irradiated with UVB before hepatitis B vaccination. In other words, volunteers with high cis-UCA levels caused by UVB exposure showed lower cellular immune responses against hepatitis B antigen after hepatitis B vaccination.  相似文献
