A visual study is performed in a supersonic, two-dimensional wake; the high value of the Reynolds number ensures that the wake is turbulent from the trailing edge. The flow is seeded by fluid vaporization in one boundary layer upstream of the trailing edge; a light sheet is generated by a Q-switched, high energy ruby laser. The set of photographs taken from the trailing edge up to the far wake is then processed after digitization of the pictures. A progressive contamination of the lower part of the wake by the fluid initially present in the upper part can be observed. In the far wake region, well organized large scale structures can be visualized. Statistics are performed and the results are compared with previous hot-wire measurements and discussed in terms of downstream wake behaviour.This paper was presented at the 9th Symposium on turbulence, University of Missouri-Rolla, October 1–3, 1984  相似文献

Alpha-Fe(2)O(3) films having a mesoscopic leaflet type structure were produced for the first time by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP) to explore their potential as oxygen-evolving photoanodes. The target of these studies is to use translucent hematite films deposited on conducting fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) glass as top electrodes in a tandem cell that accomplishes the cleavage of water into hydrogen and oxygen by sunlight. The properties of layers made by USP were compared to those deposited by conventional spray pyrolysis (SP). Although both types of films show similar XRD and UV-visible and Raman spectra, they differ greatly in their morphology. The mesoscopic alpha-Fe(2)O(3) layers produced by USP consist mainly of 100 nm-sized platelets with a thickness of 5-10 nm. These nanosheets are oriented mainly perpendicularly to the FTO support, their flat surface exposing (001) facets. The mesoscopic leaflet structure has the advantage that it allows for efficient harvesting of visible light, while offering at the same time the very short distance required for the photogenerated holes to reach the electrolyte interface before recombining with conduction band electrons. This allows for water oxidation by the valence band holes even though their diffusion length is only a few nanometers. Distances are longer in the particles produced by SP favoring recombination of photoinduced charge carriers. Open-circuit photovoltage measurements indicate a lower surface state density for the nanoplatelets as compared to the round particles. These factors explain the much higher photoactivity of the USP compared to the SP deposited alpha-Fe(2)O(3) layers. Addition of hydrogen peroxide to the alkaline electrolyte further improves the photocurrent-voltage characteristics of films generated by USP indicating the hole transfer from the valence band of the semiconductor oxide to the adsorbed water to be the rate-limiting kinetic step in the oxygen generation reaction.  相似文献

Hopf monads     
We introduce and study Hopf monads on autonomous categories (i.e., monoidal categories with duals). Hopf monads generalize Hopf algebras to a non-braided (and non-linear) setting. In particular, any monoidal adjunction between autonomous categories gives rise to a Hopf monad. We extend many fundamental results of the theory of Hopf algebras (such as the decomposition of Hopf modules, the existence of integrals, Maschke's criterium of semisimplicity, etc.) to Hopf monads. We also introduce and study quasitriangular and ribbon Hopf monads (again defined in a non-braided setting).  相似文献

Isothermal rates of reaction during the cure of epoxy‐amine/thermoplastic blends were studied. Epoxy‐amine reaction induces a phase separation. Experimental results show that when TP concentration is higher than 30 wt% an increase of reaction rate is observed after phase separation. A modelling of the kinetics of each phase before and after phase separation, shows that in the epoxy‐amine rich phase, gelation occurs for a conversion close to 0.6. Rheological behaviour was studied during the cure. The viscosity was found greatly dependent of the morphology, the epoxy amine conversion and of the evolution of the phase composition. Modelling of the viscosity using simple relations gives a good fit of the experimental results during the cure.  相似文献

Phenol-paraphenylenediamine (P-pPDA) benzoxazines exhibit excellent barrier properties, adequate to protect aluminum alloys from corrosion, and constitute interesting candidates to replace chromate-containing coatings in the aeronautical industry. For the successful application of P-pPDA coatings, it is necessary to decrease the curing temperature to avoid the delamination of the coating while preserving the mechanical properties of the alloy, as well as the barrier properties of the coating. However, decreasing the curing temperature leads to less polymerized films, the extent of which requires a quantitative assessment. While the conversion rate of the polymerization reaction is commonly evaluated for bulk samples using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), a tool for its evaluation in thin films is missing. Therefore, a new approach was developed for that matter using time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS). The relation between the SIMS data integrated from inside thin films and the DSC results obtained on bulk samples with the same curing cycle allowed to calibrate the SIMS data. With this preliminary calibration of the technique, the polymerization of P-pPDA coatings can be locally determined, at the surface and along the depth of the coating, using dual-beam depth profiling with large argon cluster beam sputtering.  相似文献

In this study, we report the pH values of two buffer solutions without chloride ion and eight buffer solutions with NaCl with an ionic strength I=0.16 mol?kg?1. Electromotive force (emf) techniques have been used to get the cell potentials at 12 temperatures from 5 to 55?°C, including 37?°C. An extended form of the Bates-Guggenheim convention is used in the entire ionic strength range, 0.04 to 0.16?mol?kg?1. The residual liquid junction potentials (??E j ) of the buffer solutions of MOBS have been estimated from previous measurements with a flowing junction cell. These values of ??E j have been used for correction in order to ascertain the operational pH values of four buffer solutions of MOBS at 25 and 37?°C. These solutions are recommended as pH standards for physiological application in the pH range 7.4 to 7.7.  相似文献

Two new pentadentate, pendent arm macrocyclic ligands of the type 1-alkyl-4,7-bis(4-tert-butyl-2-mercaptobenzyl)-1,4,7-triazacyclononane where alkyl represents an isopropyl, (L(Pr))(2-), or an ethyl group, (L(Et))(2-), have been synthesized. It is shown that they bind strongly to ferric ions generating six-coordinate species of the type [Fe(L(alk))X]. The ground state of these complexes is governed by the nature of the sixth ligand, X: [Fe(III)(L(Et))Cl] (2) possesses an S = 5/2 ground state as do [Fe(III)(L(Et))(OCH(3))] (3) and [Fe(III)(L(Pr))(OCH(3))] (4). In contrast, the cyano complexes [Fe(III)(L(Et))(CN)] (5) and [Fe(III)(L(Pr))(CN)] (6) are low spin ferric species (S = 1/2). The octahedral [FeNO](7) nitrosyl complex [Fe(L(Pr))(NO)] (7) displays spin equilibrium behavior S = 1/2<==>S = (3)/(2) in the solid state. Complexes [Zn(L(Pr))] (1), 4.CH(3)OH, 5.0.5toluene.CH(2)Cl(2), and 7.2.5CH(2)Cl(2) have been structurally characterized by low-temperature (100 K) X-ray crystallography. All iron complexes have been carefully studied by zero- and applied-field M?ssbauer spectroscopy. In addition, Sellmann's complexes [Fe(pyS(4))(NO)](0/1+) and [Fe(pyS(4))X] (X = PR(3), CO, SR(2)) have been studied by EPR and M?ssbauer spectroscopies and DFT calculations (pyS(4) = 2,6-bis(2-mercaptophenylthiomethyl)pyridine(2-)). It is concluded that the electronic structure of 7 with an S = 1/2 ground state is low spin ferrous (S(Fe) = 0) with a coordinated neutral NO radical (Fe(II)-NO) whereas the S = 3/2 state corresponds to a high spin ferric (S(Fe) = 5/2) antiferromagnetically coupled to an NO(-) anion (S = 1). The S = 1/2<==>S = 3/2 equilibrium is then that of valence tautomers rather than that of a simple high spin<==>low spin crossover.  相似文献
