In this paper, it is assumed that the spread of a pathogen can mutate in the host to create a second, cocirculating, mutant strain. Vaccinated individuals perhaps becomes infected after being in contact with individuals infected with mutant strain. A?two-strain epidemic model with vaccination is firstly investigated. The existence and stability properties of equilibria in this model are examined. By analyzing the characteristic equation and constructing Lyapunov functions, the conditions for local and global stability of the infection-free, boundary and endemic equilibria are established. The existence of Hopf bifurcation from the endemic equilibrium is also examined as this equilibrium loses its stability. Our theoretical results are confirmed by numerical simulations. 相似文献

The paper presents the optimal control applied to a vector borne disease with direct transmission in host population. First, we show the existence of the control problem and then use both analytical and numerical techniques to investigate that there are cost effective control efforts for prevention of direct and indirect transmission of disease. In order to do this three control functions are used, one for vector-reduction strategies and the other two for personal (human) protection and blood screening, respectively. 2-Amino-4-(2-hydroxynaphthyl)-4H-chromene-3-carbonitriles were synthesized by Michael addition of various 3-cyanoiminocoumarins and β-naphthol in good yield. The heterocyclization of these materials in an acidic medium leads new heterocyclic compounds, which have not previously been described, in moderate to good yields and good selectivity. The electrical transport properties of LaFe1? x Ni x O3 (0.1 ≤ x ≤ 0.6) bulk samples were investigated over a wide temperature range, i.e. 9–300 K. Powder x-ray diffraction patterns at room temperature showed that all samples were formed in a single phase. However, a structural transformation was observed from orthorhombic (Pnma) to rhombohedral crystal symmetry at x > 0.5 in Ni-doped samples, which is supported by the electrical transport analysis. Temperature-dependent resistivity data were fitted using Mott's variable-range hopping model for a limited range of temperatures to calculate the hopping distance and the density of states at Fermi level. It was found that all parameters vary systematically with an increase in Ni concentration. Moreover, the resistivity data were also fitted using the small polaron hopping (SPH) model. The non-adiabatic SPH conduction mechanism is followed up to 50% Ni concentration, whereas an adiabatic hopping conduction mechanism is active above it. Such a change in the conduction mechanism is accompanied by subtle electronically induced structural changes involving Fe3+–O–Fe3+ and Fe3+–O–Ni3+ bond angles and bond lengths. Thus, we suggest that the transport properties can be explained according to the additional delocalization of charge carriers induced by Ni doping. 相似文献

The important role of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum strains in improving the human mucosal and systemic immunity, preventing non-steroidal anti-provocative drug-induced reduction in T-regulatory cells, and as probiotic starter cultures in food processing has motivated in-depth molecular and genomic research of these strains. The current study, building on this research concept, reveals the importance of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 13-3 as a potential probiotic and bacteriocin-producing strain that helps in improving the condition of the human digestive system and thus enhances the immunity of the living beings via various extracellular proteins and exopolysaccharides. We have assessed the stability and quality of the L. plantarum 13-3 genome through de novo assembly and annotation through FAST-QC and RAST, respectively. The probiotic-producing components, secondary metabolites, phage prediction sites, pathogenicity and carbohydrate-producing enzymes in the genome of L. plantarum 13-3 have also been analyzed computationally. This study reveals that L. plantarum 13-3 is nonpathogenic with 218 subsystems and 32,918 qualities and five classes of sugars with several important functions. Two phage hit sites have been identified in the strain. Cyclic lactone autoinducer, terpenes, T3PKS, and RiPP-like gene clusters have also been identified in the strain evidencing its role in food processing. Combined, the non-pathogenicity and the food-processing ability of this strain have rendered this strain industrially important. The subsystem and qualities characterization provides a starting point to investigate the strain’s healthcare-related applications as well. 相似文献

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) is a chronic and sometimes fatal condition which affects people all over the world. Nanotherapeutics have shown tremendous potential to combat chronic diseases—including DM2—as they enhance the overall impact of drugs on biological systems. Greenly synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from Catharanthus roseus methanolic extract (C. AgNPs) were examined primarily for their cytotoxic and antidiabetic effects. Methods: Characterization of C. AgNPs was performed by UV–vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The C. AgNPs were trialed on Vero cell line and afterwards on an animal model (rats). Results: The C. AgNPs showed standard structural and functional characterization as revealed by FTIR and XRD analyses. The zetapotential analysis indicated stability while EDX analysis confirmed the formation of composite capping with Ag metal. The cytotoxic effect (IC50) of C. AgNPs on Vero cell lines was found to be 568 g/mL. The animal model analyses further revealed a significant difference in water intake, food intake, body weight, urine volume, and urine sugar of tested rats after treatment with aqueous extract of C. AgNPs. Moreover, five groups of rats including control and diabetic groups (NC1, PC2, DG1, DG2, and DG3) were investigated for their blood glucose and glycemic control analysis. Conclusions: The C. AgNPs exhibited positive potential on the Vero cell line as well as on experimental rats. The lipid profile in all the diabetic groups (DG1-3) were significantly increased compared with both of the control groups (p < 0.05). The present study revealed the significance of C.
